Just Wing It

Not only do they have amazing wings, but their loaded bar keeps me going back. They have a huge selection to choose from and an unbeatable happy hour. Shooters starting at $ 3! The bartenders are always friendly and even recommended a new beer to me and I instantly fell in love. Definitely my favorite place to eat at in the Marketplace.
Louis is our favorite bartender. He pays close attention to his customers and makes sure we are taken care of!

Awful service every time! Food is ok wings are prob the only thing they have going for them. Lemon pepper wings are my fav and honey bourbon! It took them 15 for them to bring me more napkins I had wing sauce all over my hands finally I got up and walked to the bar to ask for some. The waitresses were too busy getting hit on by older men at the bar (gotta work that tip I guess) over all awful experience every time! Slow service bad waitresses that text and care more about getting hit on than doing their jobs

Horrible service got meals 15 minutes apart and appetizer as a dessert. Food was ok but service was horrible won’t be back.

Last night my wife and went in to get a bite before the movie and were almost late because of them. We showed up just about 9 and walked into super loud music and no hostess. No biggie. I grab the menus and seat ourselves. Finally a waitress shows up ask for our drink order, I get a Guinness and my wife gets a water. Drinks come out in a fair amount of time. It’s 9:10 when she takes our order, I ask for the chorizo burger/​Mac and cheese, and my wife ordered a flat bread pizza. We waited patiently about for half hour and then start asking her questions, so she’s goes back to find out. 10 min later we ask another waitress where she went, and she goes looking for her. This dialogue is he best part and goes as follows.
Me: did you find out about our order, it’s been 45 min.
Wing it: they said it takes 20 min to prepare
Me: yeah they could have made my order twice. So what’s the hold up. That guy came in 15 min ago and he just got his order of sliders and wings.
Wing it: I’m not sure how they process orders back there.
Me: ok, I would like to leave (hoping they would comp it).
Wing it: ok let me ring u up.
It came out to $ 5.36, so I left 6 $ and felt they didn’t even deserve 64 cents.
Total time there 54 min, and only got one beer. Bartender is on point, so if you want to just drink I recommend this place, but the food service is lacking. They recognized it but did nothing to compensate, they lost my business over 5.36 dollars.
That last review seems fake, the one before it was horrible. Check out star rating, they’re on downward trend. It’s only getting worse. Lol.

Food was fair. Wing Wednesday is decent for price. Happy hour drinks are terrible. Service was terrible. Felt like waitress didn’t care at all. Slow as constipated shit. Definitely not returning.

I got take out, ordered some boneless wings. I got home, started eating like savage that I am but when I attempted to puncture into the third wing and my fork wouldn’t go through, I tore it apart with my fingers and found it was not made of chicken. Gross! It was made of a balled up label that read «reject». I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager Alex. He informed me that they don’t bread the chicken and he’s never had problems with the supplier. He reassured me he would get to the bottom of it and comp me a meal for the negative experience. He was professional and made it up with a meal on the house. I’ve been to this location multiple times and has been good experiences except for the one time. Because management did the right thing, I’ll be back to give it another chance.

Love the new menu items! Tried the new Hawaiian burger, the Hawaiian bread buns add a unique taste haven’t had in Bakersfield before. Also the deep fried mac n cheese bites are awesome. My wife ordered the new pickle fries– says they are the best pickles fries she’s ever had. Service was great even though the place was packed, will be back soon!

We had not been here for awhile (why, I have no idea), but we’re so glad that we did! The menu has been upgraded to include greater variety and more choices. The service was awesome! Let me reiterate that, SERVICE WAS AWESOME! Alex was extremely pleasant, helpful, inviting, prompt, and professional. You can’t ask for anything else. Take it from someone who worked in the service industry for over a decade, this review is honest. Dining is about the experience, not just the food. We had an amazing experience. That alone will make us come back. The restaurant is clean and has a good energy. The wings are obviously outstanding, but you have to try the burgers. The creators really nailed the meat blend.
In summary, please come try this gem. Support local business and enjoy. We will again soon

A disappointment. A nice bar in a great location, but the staff acts like they are soooo put out by your being there. Fire your current staff and hire people who give a damn!

Slowest service ever! Arrived at 3 pm 1 bartender and 1 waitress. We sat for about 20 minutes, I had to flag our waitress over to order our drinks then 15 min. later again to tell her we wanted to order our food. They were not busy so the food should have came out at least 25 min. after ordering, I think our waitress was also the cook. We requested to cancel our order just then our food came out, 45 min later. No plates were provided we had to eat on our napkins. No paper towels or toilet paper in the bathroom, had to use a seat cover… After the new ownership took place, service went down hill.

Awful customer service. Not sure I can put all the blame on the young inexperienced waitresses though. It’s ownerships fault for not involving the right people. Came for lunch on a game day and waited 25 minutes for drinks and 45 minutes for an appetizer. Over an hour for food and it certainly not worth the wait! Food was not even good. They really need to hire experienced personal and have more waitresses and bartenders available atleast on gamedays. The place was full and only had a 3 person crew. Thats one cook, one bartender, and one waitress to try and accommodate a restaurant full of patrons. Not happening! Please go elsewhere with your money people !

Went to this place for Sunday football and it was a full house and they only had one bar tender and one waitress… not even a manager in sight… the waitress seemed to tend to the tables full of guys more than the tables with both men and woman. We ordered a few appetizers and she only brought out one and 40 minutes later, once we finally got her attention, she came around again and we told her to cancel the rest of the order because it took to long and we had to leave and she said she hadn’t even put it in the system and didn’t even apologize to us. It was not a good experience

I previously wrote a review about the just wing it in the market place, I came to this one hoping it would be better and the service is just as bad. It’s terrible, never coming here again. Don’t get me wrong the wings are good but there is no reason I should have to wait over an hour for my food and only get 1 refill because our waitress was nowhere to be seen the whole night. Step it up!

Food is good but the service here is no good.

Service was extremely slow nd it was only me, my friend, and another guy in there. Waitress seemed like she was over it already and came off as a bit rude. After this I was hoping the food would make the place better but nope I wasn’t pleased with the food either. Never again.

I love JWI! Such a great spot for a quick meet with friends or grabbing a bite on lunch. Always greeted and sent off with a smile. Menu and prices are perfect. I don’t know what I’d do without this place!

Visited Just Wing It for a take out order for my wife. I was told 20 minute wait, but it took well over 30 minutes for the food to come out. I understand that they may be busy; so I just waited with my little boy patiently for the food to be ready. During my long wait, the servers not once came up and updated me on the status of the order. I got my check before the food came out and I placed $ 2+ amount of tip on it to round to a whole dollar amount. The food was fine. But this is not an issue about the food. Read on…
But a few days later my wife lets me know that the amount charged was more than what I had put down on the ticket. This is your classic example of ‘accidental’ over tipping, unknown to the actual customer of course. I called immediately to let the management know this had happened. Manager asked for the information and offered to refund the over charge. I turned it down but instead let her know that this kind of stuff is never acceptable. Despite the myriad of excuses she came up with on behalf of her waitress, who apparently was likely ‘so busy’ that she probably made an error, I told her I just didn’t buy it. I mean, how hard is it to type in the value that is so clearly written on the receipt?
I am a weekly patron of this restaurant chain (especially the one on Panama, this one has great service and food) and I believe I will still go to this particular location (Ming) despite the service which is time and time again below average. I hesitate to say that I’ll judge the restaurant based on this one experience. But if this kind of ‘mistake’ happens again, I’ll probably stop patronizing Ming location entirely.

Literally the worst service ever. I’ve never been to this place and the first time I went here. Man oh man, wth was going on? The waiter was talking or flirting with some dude at the bar. We waited for our menus for like 10 minutes. After getting our menus, we didn’t get asked if we wanted to drink anything?! Like really. Then after ordering it really took like 30 minutes for our food to get to us.
I hope it’s not like that everyday, hopefully it was only the day we went. But like really?! Worst service everrr. Really ruiened my first just wing it experience. Although the food is good and just like bww, the place and worker didn’t go well. Maybe wrong place wrong timing?
I’d go back, but I hope the staff is well organized and alert next time.

I sure do love me some hot wings, so it was only a matter of time before I finally made it down to the Marketplace to try Just Wing It. As I walked into the restaurant the first thing I noticed was the loud music playing — Dream weaver when I first entered, but the playlist worked its way through the Monkeys’ Daydream believer and Donovan’s Sunshine Superman so who knows what the theme was. There were plenty of songs I knew by heart and could sing along to and plenty of new ones as well. The sign said please wait to be seated, but the bartender/​waitress called out a cheerful invitation to seat myself anywhere I liked.
This restaurant has all high-​top tables (my favorite) with tall stools with backs on them. The wall on the right has an upholstered bench running the length of it with seven or eight tall rectangular tables spaced along its length. There were 4 round high-​tops stretched down the middle and this is where I chose to seat myself.
There was one regular height table, lower than all the rest that seated two people up front against the window. I am partial to taller tables, but if you aren’t, or you’re with a friend in a wheelchair, they’ve got you covered.
I knew this was a restaurant; what I did NOT know is that it also contains a fully stocked bar that runs almost the entire length of the wall on the left with around 15 stools. Sitting in these stools was a small but dedicated crew sitting with drinks in front of them watching football games on the large flatscreen television suspended on the wall behind the bar. The sign says Just Wing It Original Buffalo Wings and Beer so I guess I should have had a clue, but I really didn’t expect a fully functioning sports bar.
The walls are painted the color of red clay and Dijon mustard. There appear to be flat screens almost everywhere, seven of them. Five were playing 5 one sports program and the other two were playing a second sports program but today they were all on football.
Two couples and a family with two kids sitting at the tables along the wall completed the picture. Sports bar AND family restaurant and the two coexisted well.
Just Wing It sells wings (duh) but they also sell burgers, salads, wraps, and sides such as nachos, seasoned fries, onion rings, and sweet potato fries.
The menu assures me that the chicken wings (you can choose boneless or bone-​in varieties) are cooked to order and then slathered in one (or more) of the twelve different sauces which are rated with in the menu with little chili peppers to designate the intensity of their heat. Finding this overwhelming or a little daunting? So was I, but they will bring you samples of the sauces to help you make up your mind. I asked to taste two of the 3 chili pepper rated sauces, the Screamer and the Sweet Habanero. Both were tasty but neither threatened to burn the inside lining of my mouth. I must be growing cautious in my old age. Or maybe it was the fact that the menu had only one four chili pepper rated sauce (Dead Man Walkin’ — so hot it burned the g right off the end) which it claimed required you to sign a waiver to eat. I liked both sauces, but preferred the Sweet Habanero.
I asked for a 10-​piece order of chicken wings, half Bourbon (1 chili pepper) and half Sweet Habanero, and a side of sweet potato fries. They came out together and the sweet potato fries were hot and crisp and were accompanied by a sweet dipping sauce. The chicken wings were excellent, though I did prefer the Sweet Habanero sauce. You can get either ranch of bleu cheese sauce for dipping. I ordered the bleu cheese and was quite pleased with it. These have been my favorite wings in Bakerfield so far.
My waitress/​bartender Jaymee was very friendly and served all the patrons, both bar and restaurant, quickly and efficiently.
I’ll definitely be back.
