Spencer’s Cafe

This is my number one place to go for lunch and breakfast. Their Omelets can’t be beat. Try the Hobo omelet it’s fantastic. If you are a fan of biscuits and gravy you will love it here. It’s a nice cozy diner experience with great service and great food. Just like your grandma would have made if she was a great cook. Thanks Spencer’s for another great meal.

After many years, my little family and I stopped to have breakfast here. Our experience was simply delightful. The food was top-​notch. The service was impeccable. I was impressed with the generous portion sizes. When we arrived mid-​morning, the place was packed. We were asked if we would like to sit in the patio area, as it was available. We were starving, so no objections. The coffee was freshly brewed and served with a genuine smile. We cannot wait to go back again :)

The servers Are so busy trying to take everyone’s order they forget about the other tables. My cup of water had nasty floaties in it. We always return but they need To provide better table service. Also heard others around us discussing the same things.

I would like to start of by saying all of the servers are amazing. But Victoria and I come here habitually because the food is great for the reasonable price and I love to see Patty, she is always interacting with the guests and making them feel like family. I always leave this place happy, which is why I always come back When it’s busy it’s busy, you will probably wait a few minutes for a table, so we go around an hour before close when the rush is gone and its perfect, you can practically choose your table, but we always ask for Patty I highly recommend going on Thursdays when their soup of the day is Chicken Tortilla, it’s the best Chicken Tortilla soup in a 100 mile radius if not more, made in house from scratch. Super if you want some good soup

Never been disappointed by their amazing breakfast food & coffee! Great service, and their wait time has never been too bad in my experience. This location is by far my favorite in Bakersfield. The Rosedale location was a disappointment. I will continue to drive the extra miles for this location. Best in Bakersfield!!!

Customer service is good. Three x three omelette is very good. More food than I can eat.

I’ve been here a few Sundays now and they have always been packed. However, they always get you in pretty quickly. The waitresses are very friendly even when swamped and the food is AMAZING! Everytime I come here, there service, food, and atmosphere as a whole has been great! Will definately be back this Sunday!

I love this restaurant. The people that work there all make u feel like family. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The kiddo (9) and I came here for breakfast/​brunch while Visiting family in Bakersfield. The place was booming. But our wait short and we got prime booth seating. Our waitress was very nice. Group ordered biscuit breakfast (x2), French toast combo and kids one egg breakfast. Servings were huge! We loved every bite we could hold … Great breakfast!

The service was great, all the waitresses were kind and helpful. I ordered the chicken-​fried steak, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. The chicken-​fried steak was somewhat dull and I wouldn’t order it again. The biscuits and gravy were decent and I liked the pancakes. The people next to me had some cool looking dishes I would have liked to have tried but my meal was nothing to write home about. Except– the pancakes. Which, like I said, were cool.

My husband and I ate here for the first time, the SW location behind McD’s. We had heard about Spencer’s but only of the Rosedale location. It was per chance we drove past the SW location after leaving Firehouse after a UFC fight night.
It is smaller inside than I expected and the décor was cute, cabin-​like. Very similar to Cope’s Knotty Pine. It was packed and we arrived at 1:45pm (they close at 2:30pm on Sundays). Service was excellent! Immediately greeted and drinks ordered. I got the Lumberjack and it was MASSIVE! 2 large pancakes (she brought 2 things of syrup, 2! Finally a waitress who knows 1 tiny cup of syrup is insufficient). 3 eggs, a lot of hash browns, a good slice of ham, and bacon (i asked for extra bacon to replace the sausage). It was great! My husband got the Meat Lovers skillet w/​o eggs, as he can’t eat eggs. He LOVED it. Bacon, tri-​tip, hot links, sausage, country potatoes, and cheese PLUS biscuits & gravy on the side was included! We were both thoroughly impressed, pleased that it was so close to home but bummed we had not been here sooner. A bunch of other things sounded great from the menu. We are very happy with our first experience here. We WILL be back!

THE BEST BREAKFAST! My husband and I love it here! I get something different every time I eat here and I’m ALWAYS satisfied. My husband faithfully gets the pancake lumberjack and he loves it. Great service, cute set up, amazing food, GREAT PLACE! Their breakfast or lunch specials are always great too.

Best gravy so far. People are nice and foods are tasty. Love this place.

Had a great meal. Most things are just regular breakfast food but the specials are great and everything is a good price. I got the three little pigs sandwich. It’s on the weekend menu but u can order it anytime. I love that they buttered the sourdough bread and it was just so yummy. It included ham, egg, bacon and sausage! I also got hash browns with it. It was less than $ 11 and I took half home. Big portions and a good price. But I would update the look. It looks dirty cuz it’s old.

4 stars for what it is: a locally owned equivalent of Denny’s.
Not mad it, the staff was nice, food was fast, and quality as expected. Hey, it’s Bakersfield. Everything is «good ol’ fashion American».

We’ve been here many times and, although the wait is sometimes long, it’s always worth it. We are treated like family and the attention they give my two year old son is a wonderful touch!
We aren’t too picky about seating so when they offer to sit on the patio without the wait we always jump at the opportunity! The servers are always great with our groups (ranging from 3 – 12).
We only had a problem one time when they called a group who walked in after us. The name they used was very similar to the name we used, but it’s ok. We got seated fairly quickly anyway and were served just as quickly as well. I highly recommend this location to anyone wanting to try something off the beaten path.
My favorites? Their skillets, the lumberjack, and the French toast with strawberries. We’ve never had anything but breakfast here lol. Something else they’re known for is their biscuits and gravy! I’ll tell you they’re absolutely delicious too! Come and enjoy any of their foods. And come back and taste something else. You’ll be sure to enjoy anything they bring to the table!

If you want to break the chain and eat at a local breakfast/​lunch restaurant and have delicious food, this is the place to go. The lines are always long so you know you’re in for a treat. Unlike many breakfast chain food restaurants, you can taste the love in the food.
The breakfast burritos are so good and big enough to take some leftovers home. You definitely get more than what you pay for. Try this place out. Definitely a better choice than the rest!

First time visitor last week while in Bakersfield. We came here with a «regular» customer and both hubby and I got the chicken fried steak breakfast. OMG it was so good! Nice and crispy, hot and full of flavor. Cooked perfectly for me!
The staff was nice and friendly, although a bit slow on water refills. But overall, great breakfast spot!
