Delicious. First time here and I love this place. Will definitely be back SOON. Waitress was super nice, chefs are warm and inviting, atmosphere is intimate. Ordered the Heart Attack for my appetizer and The Titanic for the meal. Wow…

All the specialty rolls we tried were delicious and had nice presentation. The décor was pretty and calming. It is darker than usual for a restaurant but I like it that way, yes I do!

Pretty good place. Really cute and friendly waitress, but she was taking care of the entire busy restaurant. The Crispy Roll was pretty good, but it only had little spots of crispness, and fell apart in the chopsticks, no matter what way I tried to pick it up. The Red Bull Roll was good, but not as good as Jin Sushi. The beef wasn’t that flavorful, and the Jalapeño had an over-powering spiciness.

Sad sad panda :( I didn’t get to try any sushi on my visit! Unfortunately, this location stays open until 10:30 however they close up their kitchen by 10:00. Such a bummer. Based on the reviews I was expecting some awesome tasting sushi. I’ll be back again to re review once I am actually able to get in. The restaurant overall appeared to be like that of any traditional sushi style restaurant. It looked like a nice place to eat. Hopefully we can try again real soon. As I mentioned Unilocalers, if you want a late night sushi fix, don’t press your time on this place.

Met a bestfriend here tonight, after hearing her rant about how amazing it was. I love sushi, so obviously I’m totally in especially since I’ve never been. I loved the ambiance, dim lit, rustic style tables and chairs, beautiful artwork, and fish tank. Clean. We were sat immediately, given menus and asked our drink order. I ordered the Kiss Me roll, spicy tuna and cucumber on the inside and salmon on the outside. Usually my go-to roll. It was extremely small for my liking, especially for the price. The salmon was cut thinly where I think they could have given a bigger portion. The taste just wasn’t there for me, I almost felt like I ate the roll so it didn’t go to waste not so much because I was dying for the next bite. The presentation was pretty though, they place a flower on every plate. I did get to enjoy the mochi though! The service was prompt and our waitress was super sweet.

Often times, I’m asked where the best Sushi place in town is. Every year or two, it seems to change. Fortunately, Bakersfield is growing. With growth, comes more choices. More choices means more competition. My friends, I’m here to say, the buck stops here. The service is anyways excellent. The servers have always taken great care of my family and me. The Sushi chefs greet you with a smile and a «hello». We always feel welcomed. Better yet, the food is consistently excellent. No matter what you get, you can’t go wrong. Our current favorite is their Sashimi. No doubt, the best quality you can get in town. It’s so good, my kids love sashimi now… what?

I love this place. My mom and I stop here after shopping at Winco. The wait staff is so nice, they remember us from prior visits. We always just get something small like gyoza and soup or a couple pieces of sushi, but they treat us like royalty.

We went for a rare date night. Started with a gigantic Kirin, followed up with a large hot Saki… Or five Next up, Garlic edamame, and a Yellow Submarine. I waited, and savored my treats. I finally chose seared Ahi, and Unagi, sans rice. It was fun, delicious, and the service was amazing. I had to take pictures, hope you enjoy them. Thank you for a great evening

Passing thru Bakersfield my spouse and I decided to stop here for lunch. We were both feeling sushi so we quickly Unilocaled sushi restaurants in the area and decided on Sushi Ko as the reviews and 4 ½ star rating looked promising. 1st impressions upon entering the restaurant(for lunch mind you) were gloomy and depressing. The lighting was too dark and it was about 10 degrees hotter inside the restaurant than outside. It was pretty empty with the exception of one other table and a single guy at the bar. Our waitress was friendly. We ordered 3 rolls. The red bull, mango mango, and rainbow deluxe. I will say that the presentation was probably the best of any sushi restaurant we’ve ever been to however the food itself left much to be desired. The rolls were small, the fish on one roll looked old(not fresh), and the fish on all the rolls was warm. I was afraid to eat it for fear of getting ill. If this is the best in Bakersfield, I will bypass sushi whenever I am in this town! Sorry but this place maybe 4 ½ stars in Bako but a 2 star anywhere else.

Definitely one of the higher quality sushi places in Bakersfield. The inside reminds me of Izumo Sushi, in that, upon entering, you feel like you are in a classy sushi joint. Don’t let that deter you from coming: It’s more aesthetic than atmosphere. No doubt the menu is exhaustive and markets many plates that would cater to less than adventurous eaters(e.g. teriyaki). Truth is, you can’t go wrong with any of their rolls. Granted the pricing is a bit steep given the portions, this place is more geared towards those who want more quality than quantity. Service is great, but in the past few months, I’ve sadly seen many hosts and hostesses come and go. Luckily this has had little effect on the magnitude of service(which is usually good when I go).

Wow! The staff AND the food was great! I feel sorry for all the other sushi places cause they will never get my business cause I will stick to this place. If it ain’t broke why fix it? Even my children loved it here! The red bull roll is a must try. Very fresh and great quality sushi.

The sushi quality here was SO good! I was really surprised to find such a great sushi spot in Bakersfield. All the sashimi was Really fresh, buttery, and just overall very great quality. They make their wasabi and soy sauce INHOUSE, and that’s just another wonderful thing. Overall, the service was awesome, the chefs were funny and social, and even the other customers were pleasant to sit next to. We will definitely make going to SushiKo a regular event.

Heard this place was good so went to give it a try. The place is very nice and looks well kept. It’s a little more expensive than most sushi places, although not by much. The food was good. Typically my first time trying a sushi place is to try the spicy tuna rolls to gauge, if they’re good, I’ll come back. The rolls were good, much spicier than typical spicy tuna rolls but not too much. Friend got the rainbow rolls which were also pretty good. Overall first time was good, I’ll be back to check out other options.

I love this place! I previously wrote a tip that customers avoid the gray chairs — and I’m pleased to say they have all been replaced! All seats are now very comfortable :) great job sushi kO! It’s open seating here, so pick where you want to sit. They provide complimentary miso soup, which is a nice way to warm up the taste buds. I love to order hot green tea and their pickled cucumber salad to start. The screaming o, toro special, and super philly rolls are my favorite dishes! All meals are beautifully plated and taste as good as they look. It’s like eating art!

My husband and I came here for lunch this weekend and enjoyed our meal. I found this restaurant via Unilocal, and saw the high ratings so decided to venture inside for a look. It was dimly lit inside, which transported me to some fancy sushi restaurant that you are likely to find in Los Angeles. :) Didn’t expect this type of décor or ambiance from a sushi restaurant in Bake… We ordered: (1) chicken katsu bowl; my husband ordered this and it was a good portion with some tasty chicken katsu(the sauce was the best part). It came with salad and white rice. (2) happy volcano appetizer — if you don’t want to order a sushi roll, but want something that tastes like sushi, then try this. It’s $ 11.99 and it’s a bed or white rice, covered with lobster, crab, and scallop. tastes great; we were glad to have ordered it since the portion size is fitting for an entrée. (3) lunch bento box of don katsu(pork) and teriyaki salmon; the bento box comes with a side of miso soup, rice, 1 gyoza, 1 egg roll, salad and cucumbers. It was priced at $ 12.95 which is pretty expensive, but the portion size was good because I couldn’t finish and had to take items home with me. We were happy with our meal, and the friendly service. We approve of this Japanese restaurant in town and look forward to possibly coming again in the future. :)

I’m pretty skeptical about branching out when it comes to sushi. I’ll do it, but I go into it knowing to place my expectations a few notches down. This place was really good. I don’t know how else to start other than I was so pleased with everything we ordered. I had the Pink Lady roll after much deliberation, and although the set-up of the roll surprised me being wrapped WITH fish rather than rolled inside(I probably just didn’t read the description, to be honest, but that’s just me and my easy distractibility), the flavor was great. Totally something I’d order again. I got your basic spicy tuna roll as well, and was not disappointed with it. I recently went to a more popular sushi joint in town(that shall not be named for the sake of not bashing), and I couldn’t even finish my spicy tuna roll. This place relieved my standards and love for spicy tuna. The only«complaint» I have — which isn’t a legitimate complaint and I can hardly even count it as such — was that the service was a little slow. Not extraordinarily noticeable, and was within acceptable restaurant wait time, but that is something to note going in. It wouldn’t stop me from coming back though, as the waiter/host/staff was all very friendly and even brought out some of that FANTASTIC garlicky edamame while we waited. I’m a garlic fiend, call me biased. Oh well. It definitely helped to forget about any silly little wait. Also, I’m still thinking about the mochi green tea ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I’m not even that big of a sweets person but here I am, midnight on a Sunday, wishing I had some.

We came here by the invite of some fellow sushi lovers and friends of ours. We do have our favorite spot but we are always up to try a new«hot spot» for fresh sushi. It was a Thursday evening at 5pm so I know most are just getting off work so I expected it to be dead when we arrived. Our server informed us if we ordered before 5:30 it was happy hour it was buy 2 get 1 free on the rolls. Sounded good to us! Our friends got stuck in typical Bako evening rush hour traffic, but made the cut off. My husband ordered his usual sashimi chefs special 10 pcs. I believe, but unlike our usual spot it wasn’t a combination of different fish. You selected one fish. We chose the 911(my choice) I really don’t remember what my friend had as her roll and the server recommended a roll for our«free» it was — yep I’m drawing a blank!!! But it was delicious!!! No rice crab and avocado inside wrapped in salmon, Oh my gosh Devine!!! I will just have to describe it next time because I can’t remember what it was called. And our other friend had the bento box, beef. Their menu was very extensive and expensive with all the usual suspects, I noticed the same names of all the same rolls as most every sushi place in town so really there wasn’t anything much different. The 911 was very spicy as it should be, although I thought the salmon was, and I know it tends to be but it seemed to have a lot of tendons. For the prices I wasn’t impressed. The atmosphere was nice it is darker in there giving you that more upscale feeling. Aluminum chopsticks are a nice touch. Although the server wore jeans and a t-shirt. She was a great server very attentive and knowledgeable. Sushi Chefs didn’t even look at us for us being the only ones in there for a good hour. Very limited saki selection too. I guess we would give it another try.

Rolls are good, service was ok but lacked in certain places. I was amazed by the photos of other Unilocalers and I got intrigued by it, certainly got my attention one certain roll. I was seated by a very young man seemed nervous, certainly a FNG(new guy). Service was not going to be good after noticing that and it was okay, not going to exaggerated but wasn’t good or wasn’t the worst. I immediately asked for the Red Bull roll and the usual Las Vegas roll. Red Bull roll, had me speechless with its cooked Filet Mignon topping and delicious membranes, felt like heaven for for a minute. It’s a must for anyone to try. Host was nice(she should of been our waitress) gave us free Miso Soup which was very generous of her, thanks to whoever you are. Okay now to the other items, like rice, noodles etc. it was lacking flavor, and portion. I don’t expect to have tons of it but for the price, well let’s just say my buck better get bang for every dollar. Other than that the Red Bull roll had be hypnotize and I am going to stick to a 3.5 rating and just because that specific roll. Thanks SK for trying but I will try a different place, Shogun is on the list for the next time.
