A small little restaurant with incredibly delicious food! The owner is one of the nicest people; so great to have such a friendly experience! I had a beef gyro, which comes with a pickle and refreshing cucumber salad. Yum! I would definitely recommend and would definitely return!

Delicious food and friendly service! I had the beef gyro with a cucumber, onion, and tomato side salad and an extra side of tabbouleh. The ingredients and flavors were very fresh. Since I was waiting for a takeout order the owner gave me one of their spinach pastries to try… also delicious! A separate word on the tzatziki… not only is it the best I’ve had in town… a little tart, fresh, delicate flavors with a thick, rich texture… but I mentioned that I’ve been craving it and they sent me home with an extra container on the house. Unfortunately, they were out of baklava, but they make it fresh on Mondays. Want to guess where I’m having lunch on Monday?

I discovered these guys thanks to my fellow friendly Unilocalers. I had been craving some Mediterranean food for a long time since SKK closed down by my house and Athena’s is really far away from me. As soon as we walked in, the first impression is fantastic. The floor is so squeaky clean it’s reflective. There was someone ordering a takeout meal but otherwise the restaurant was empty. Let me just say that I was so excited for the food I forgot to take pictures(I know, I suck). And wow was it good! My wife ordered the beef & lamb gyro and I had the chicken shwarma plate. It comes on top of pilaf with Greek yogurt on top of that and was very delicious! Both dishes came with a side of hummus and a cucumber, tomato, red onion salad with salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar. They were BOTH on point — so fresh. Have you ever eaten food that was so good and so fresh that it woke you up? And like gave you energy? That’s what this was. They have an extensive menu — chicken, beef, or lamb shwarma, different kinds of hummus, fatoush, tabbouleh, all sorts of deli sandwiches, babaghanoush, and some Mediterranean pizzas which looked reallllly good on the menu. While I did not see the pizza, he made one to go for the guy that was there to install a new credit card machine and did not charge him. It smelled realllllllllllly good. I’m gonna need to check those out. They also have tons of pastries — baklava, spinach triangles, etc. I meant to buy some, but I’m having sort of a brain dead day today and I forgot. Speaking of the owner, he was very kind with my 2 year old son and gave him a free lahmeh(think latkes, but with meat and/or cheese). My son deigned to give me a bite and it was really good, and I sampled my wife’s gyro as well and it is fantastic, I used the restroom while I was there and it was also very spotless. This little mom & pop place is a hidden gem on this side of town. It’s next to where Jacalito and JM’s used to be. I had no idea Jacalito had become Santiago’s. They’re a little difficult to spot from the street. I’m not sure how long these guys have been in business but they’re doing the right thing! Let’s help bring them some foot traffic!

Oh man, it’s like flame and skewers, but better! They have pizza on the menu as well as your traditional mediterranean food. I need to make a pact to come here more often because the service was awesome and friendly as well as the food. Don’t let this place go unnoticed!

Just had lunch here. Let me first by saying the place is immaculate from front to back including the restroom. The gentleman behind the front counter which I’m sure it was the owner was extremely accommodating and made you feel welcomed from the minute you walk in the door. We had a variety of items and every one of them was fantastic. We will definitely return thank you very much.

Another hidden gem of Bakersfield. My newest favorite! We accidentally found this place since we came too early for our optha appointment next door. I ordered chicken shawerma plate & baklava for dessert — which turned into appetizer since i could not get my hands off it after the first bite. The baklava is so fresh and not too sweet. The chicken shawerma is so flavorful and I love the greek yogurt that complements the taste of the chicken. The place may be small but it’s really clean, food’s good and the price is reasonable. Chicken shewarma plate $ 10.99 Assorted baklava $ 12.99

Came during my lunch hour with my sister since I’ve been craving Mediterranean food. There wasn’t anyone in the restaurant with the exception of two workers(I think the owner). They were very happy to walk us through the menu, which was a pamphlet and some pictures on the wall. They did an excellent job in helping us make our decisions. Below is what we ordered: Spinach triangle:($ 1) triangle pastry filled with spinach and onions **served cold, it was surprisingly delicious and seasoned well. I would get it again** Beef Gyro:($ 8.99) pita filled with beef and topped with taziki sauce with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber salad on the side **the salad was good but had a bit too much dressing for my taste. The meat was cooked nicely and when topped with everything made a great sandwich. I liked the taziki sauce but could have probably gone without it. I added a small amount of hummus from my sister’s dish and it tasted really good** Chicken Shawarma:($ 10.99) chicken served on top of rice with a cream sauce with a cucumber salad and hummus on the side **the hummus was on point. It was super fresh and had a nice taste to it. Again the salad was okay. The chicken was cooked well and tasted fine, same goes with the rice. I enjoyed the sauce that was on top of the chicken over the taziki that was on the gyro** Overall great place.

Had lunch here today. The place is squeaky clean and the food is great. I had a chicken shawarma plate that comes with rice, hummus, and salad. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the hummus was smooth and garlicky. My companion had the lamb kabob plate which also included hummus and salad. The lamb was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The pizzas and other items on the menu also look good in the images on the wall. A great place for a delicious lunch. I think they’ve been in business for about 6 months at this location.
