I had a disappointing experience. They were out of thing, messed up my order, forgot to bring coffee, and the chicken on my salad did not taste good at all.

This place is inside the Munsey apartment building. Good lunch place if you happen to be down by the courthouse or city hall. Mix of restaurant and coffee shop. It is sit down and wait service, but you can order coffee at the front to go.

Although the food was good, this was an incredibly awkward experience. My friends had arrived before us for a nice brunch. When they asked them to be seated, my friends told them they were just waiting for us. The waitress insisted on making them sit. When we arrived, we had a total of 5 people with only 3 menus. When I asked for additional menus, the waitress told me that they give tables of 5 only 3 menus because they need the rest for other tables. A very strange thing to say considering we were the ONLY people in there. After we decided what we wanted, the waitress took our drink orders. One coffee, one OJ and the rest water. Although the she double checked with us our drink requests, she continued to bring us the wrong order and looked extremely confused. Later, our food came and it looked beautiful. Some dishes came with rolls on the side. My friend asked for some jam for her rolls-an understandable request. However, the lady said she didn’t have jam. Why wouldn’t you have jam available if you are serving rolls and marketing your brunch?! Another friend of mine asked for salt. The chef came out and awkwardly questioned him as to why he needed salt because he thought he «tends to salt the food perfectly». He also continued to say, «Are you one of those salt freaks?» Nice! Definitely not the type of respect a paying customer should receive. Overall, it seemed like we couldn’t trust our waitress’ competence whatsoever. Next brunch, we will choose a different place where we aren’t judged for wanting salt.

What a disappointment! We were looking for a soup and salad place off the beaten track where we could split a beer since we were on vacation. The special soup of the day was Gumbo… sold out at 12:45. No other soups that day. Ordered the Greek salad; very sweet vinaigrette dressing. Asked for bread and got a burger roll that seemed to have been squashed in a panini press. Also ordered the roasted veggie wrap which lacked flavor, and the veggies were like warm rubber. Nobody seemed interested in serving us a beer, so we went without. We won’t go back.

Went with my girlfriend on a brunch date this morning and couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. This was my first visit, so I figured that if I was going to really test the food, it’s best to start off with the simple stuff(if you can’t boil water, I don’t think you can serve a decent duck confit either). I ended up with an omelet with bacon and Brie cheese. Argosy nailed it Accompanying the omelet, toasted challah bread. Nailed it again. Fresh roasted coffee. Do I have to say it? Nailed it. I’d be good with just this, but the staff was pleasant and welcoming, too. I’ll definitely be returning and hope others follow my lead because… Argosy nailed it.

I had an amazing brunch here !! I had the duck and it was delicious! I’m thankful for the chef who came to talk to us. The service was really nice, my friends and I really enjoy the brunch menu and the kindness of everybody in Argosy. I would definitely recommend it !

I came here with my fiancé and friends for a drink before the monument lighting. We got the fries and egg rolls to share. They were the perfect pairing with our beers. The bartender is very knowledgable about the beer selection and was really helpful in finding a beer for all of our party’s tastes.

I walked in at lunch time and there was no line. Not sure if this is normal or not but I was very pleased. I ordered a turkey wrap and a soda. I sat by the window(so I could people watch while eating) and my food came out within 5 minutes. The wrap came with skinny fries and coleslaw. I’m not a coleslaw fan in general so I can’t comment on that but everything else was delicious and reasonably priced.

I rarely give 5 star reviews, but Argosy deserves it. I asked that my breakfast be prepared a bit off-menu, and they graciously prepared it to my specifications. This, alone, is notable. At Argosy, the staff is exceedingly pleasant, and let me know that my desires would be easily accommodated. The food was delicious and well prepared. And the cappuccino has the distinction of being one of the best I’ve ever been served, the right temperature, well balanced, delicious, smooth and heady. Fresh mozzarella, roasted tomatoes with just the right compliment of garlic, and a delightful in-house sausage. The scrambled eggs with Gruyère were perfectly prepared. It was a great start to our day, and I’m a very hard fellow to please.(I’m really not, I’ve just become accustomed to substandard service and food.) At Argosy, you’ll find pleasant staff, notable preparation, delightful flavors, and a willingness to please. We left very happy customers.

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Great restaurant/bar layout. Has a good vibe. Very reasonable prices. The menu is not extensive, but sometimes less is more. The place is owned by a father and son duo. One was serving and the other was working in the kitchen that night. Both came by the table to chat for a bit. Really friendly guys! The dad is a bit quirky, but you can tell he cares a lot about the restaurant and is passionate about making good food. Went there on a Thursday night around 6:30. We were greeted quickly and got our choice of seating. My friend ordered the arugula salad. She said the pickled onions really added a lot. I got the Triple B burger. It was a lot of meat. Good for meat lovers. Literally roast beef on top of a burger. I would have liked a little more BBQ sauce and I think grilled onions would be a solid addition. The matchstick fries were really crispy and tasty. They are a little messy to eat, so keep that in mind if you are on a first date(I was not, so I went to town on the fries!) My friend added some fries to her salad too. I asked the chef what I should get next time. He recommended duck confit entrée and also said we should come back for brunch. I plan to do both in the near future!

The spicy shrimp corn chowder was very tasty. I had pulled pork tostados with salsa verde and sour cream, which were a little disappointing; too bland for my palate. The menu is very limited and changes regularly, so I’m not sure how useful reviews of specific dishes are. The bartender served my food and was very professional; service was efficient. Nice, casual ambience.

Stopped in for some sandwiches to take on a weekend family outing. The chef/owner welcomed us and made sure our order was promptly expedited so we could be on our way. The roast beef sandwiches were definitely a step above your average sandwich and were packed with flavor. If we return to Baltimore we will visit again!

Staff is extremely friendly and the food is very fresh. Wraps are hearty and the hash browns were cooked perfectly. Fresh squeezed OJ was great and the Latte was«the best I’ve ever tasted» said my wife. Highly recommend for casual breakfast with high quality ingredients.

Verdict is in: if I get stuck on a jury, I will at least be happy to have the opportunity to come back here tomorrow. Loved the presentation in the chicken Cobb salad, even if it made it a little tricky to dig into the first few bites without spilling. I wasn’t let down after taking a few bites, either. Chicken was moist and fresh. The blue cheese was not overpowering but almost eliminated the need for dressing. My favorite bites were the ones with corn. It provided a slight sweetness that I definitely dug. French Onion soup got lost in the shuffle, and I had to track it down, but the staff couldn’t have been more apologetic and accommodating, so no downgrade at all and almost an upgrade because they were so nice about it. It made me feel like an important customer rather than a bother. A++++++ Once it arrived, it was delightful. Slightly sweet and the cheese was melty and just the right amount of stringy without being difficult to eat. This can be a tricky meal to eat without being messy and their preparation made it easy. I saw some muffins, but no brownies or cookies in eyesight. This pregnant lady Cookie Monster could have gone for something fresh baked, so maybe get on that! Also, I dug the music. Chill but something to hum along to: exactly what I want on my lunch break. And the space is beautiful. I never came in when it was the soba place so I don’t know how much they changed it, but it’s gorgeous.

We came in for breakfast this morning and had a great meal. First, the ambience is really cool here. The space is very open, and the owners restored a lot of the original finishes. Very cool space to sit and enjoy a good meal or cup of coffee. The bar is also great, and there’s a nice long communal table. Now, onto the food. We had: –2 Aeropress coffees: very good, smooth, great flavor. –Fresh pressed orange juice: we watched the bartender make it, and it was amazing. –Honey ham and mozzarella omelet sandwich: this was so good. The mozzarella was nicely melted and the omelet was folded perfectly. The side potatoes were very good too. –Duck confit hash with fried eggs: this was also very good. Great flavor, and we had some homemade hot sauce with it! Definitely check out Argosy for some coffee and great food! It’s a great happy hour and lunch spot too!

I’m going to preface this by saying that I don’t like cafes that double as a restaraunt and a bar, though it is a nice concept. I went on a Sunday afternoon to get some work done. Overall, the place is pretty big, has plenty of ample seating. They only served brunch menu during the weekends, apparently. It was really confusing as to whether or not I should seat myself, who is taking my order, if the person taking my order is an actual waitress, etc. I ordered a regular cup of coffee and one of their omelettes. Their coffee is decent, but not amazing. Their omeltte was a bit overpriced for the food I got. Overall, it’s a decent café and a great place for a quick lunch, and a cup of joe.

You gotta try this place! The coffee is sublime. The best in the city I think and I’ve made my rounds to most of the local coffee shops. Although drip is available, I always take a few extra minutes to get the Aeropress. I had my pick of Ethiopian, Tanzanian, Columbian and Brazilian coffees. The atmosphere is perfect… very open and sunny… plenty of tables, free wifi, and a great breakfast menu! Vent Coffee Roasters is located right in the café and the owner Sarah can often be found roasting coffee or pulling espresso shots. She is so knowledgable about coffee and if she’s not too busy she’ll check in personally to be sure that my cup of coffee was perfect. Tanzanian Coffee. JPG

This place recently opened walking distance from work, and I’m really hoping they stay. The café is located in the Munsey Building, where Roly Poly used to be. First of all, I love the feel. The space feels very open and relaxed. Right in front, you can see a roaster where they roast their beans in house. My coworker and I walked over to grab some coffee and were surprised by how good it was. She got iced and I got drip and we both commented how we usually can’t taste much in our coffee(we’re both pretty uneducated when it comes to coffee), but this time we noticed all these complex notes/flavors. I was happy not adding anything else to my coffee and taking it black. Anyway, just glad to have a space like this near work. I can totally see myself walking over here to do some reading or even having a casual meeting. A great addition to the area.
