Once upon a time I would have given this 5 stars but last time I took in a few sweaters the woman who owns the place explained she was retiring soon and was cutting back on the work she took in. My sweaters took 4 months and only after I called several times and for the first time the work wasn’t clean and perfect.

I saw one review of this place complaining about the hours. It is only open two days a week. Every time I go, I ring the bell and she comes out from behind and opens up. No problem there. She’s an older lady and probably doesn’t have to work 5 days a week or maybe she has another job. I give this place 5 stars! My favorite pair of pants(part of a suit) had a hole where my wallet rubs through. She took some extra material(that I had from when the pants were originally hemmed) and weaved the material to make the hole disappear. I was a bit skeptical at first but my pants are like new. She was telling me that it wouldn’t be perfect, but I think that it’s pretty darn close. Now, this service is sort of pricey, but to save a favorite garment, it was worth it to me. I had holes repaired before and let me tell you, this is not the same thing. A repair you can see from 10 feet away, a weave — you’d be hard pressed to find out exactly where it is. She weaves the material into place so your hole is no longer there — not repaired, but gone for good.

I’ve been looking for a great tailor in Baltimore for quite awhile-there are plenty of dry cleaners that do alterations, but very few talented tailors. The woman who runs Baltimore Weaving keeps odd hours, the store is only open Weds/Thurs during the day, but her work is flawless. You can see from articles on the wall that she did alterations for a lot of the cast of Homicide, when it was filmed in Baltimore. Her rates are reasonable(around $ 10 – 15 for an original hem), and I’d trust her with any of my clothes.
