This place was comfortable and the service was great! The food came out hot and delicious. We had a party of eight, everyone gives it 5 stars.

Wow. So good. I’m a first timer and the staff gladly walked me through the process of how to eat the crab. They were so awesome and friendly. Great local beer selection. I recommend the loose cannon. I can’t wait to tell everyone about this place. It’s kind of a hole in the wall, but just look for the red awning and you’re there. I loved the environment. It was simple and it was clear that if you were there, you were there to eff up some crab. Brown paper on the table, roll of paper towels on the wall off the table. It’s time to get down. I highly recommend LP Steamers. If you’re in Baltimore, this is the place to go for some new england crab.

Was in the area so stopped in for a good old bay crab meal. We tried a bunch of things — the soft shell crab sandwich was good, although a bit mushy. I had the lobster tail and shrimp plate which was decent. the old bay mixture was really spicy and im generally ok with mild spice. the old bay fries were great and perfectly seasoned. we also had the crab soup which was just okay. unfortunately they only had large crabs and not the jumbo. overall a good experience but we have had better.

in the short stayed in Baltimore, we went here twice! I guess it speak louder than any words… first, if you are here. eat crab!!! AND if you have the choice, go JUMBO!!! you make all the effort to eat a crab, might as well eat a big one and make the most of it!(because if you eat a small one, you still need to crack the shell and all) TIPS: If you have never crack a crab before, go to their website and watch a short video and they show you have to crab it! DON’T use your teeth to crack the shell! the old bay will be too salty for you to bit on the shell… use the little mallet they gave you, and cover your crab with a napkin then hit! so the shell and the old bay won’t get to your shirt! GETTHEJUMBO!!! they are so fresh and so tasty! I don’t like to eat crab, but i personally had 5 crabs in 2 visits…

My first mistake was not coming with a local here on my 1st time. There are things you simply can’t learn from online reviews. It’s the little mannerisms they do, the style in which they order, the confident tone they set with the staff that lets them know you come here regularly, knowing the secret sections in which you have preference in eating. More on all that later. I first found Locust Point Steamers on Instagram last year, true story. No google, not Unilocalers or elite’s or even my foodie friends in the area. I think part of that confusion with my friends was that I kept calling it Locust Point instead of LP. Don’t make that mistake. You’ll confuse the natives. Peak hours have long lines and they do not have a pager system, and honestly large groups should be discouraged from coming here. I suggest sitting upstairs and when the season/weather permits outside, stay out of the corner and sound collects there. Other than that downstairs is fine, but it can get bustling downstairs near the bar if that’s your scene. Décor is pretty clean and basic, not overly coastal-ish. Staff is so so, they let the food do the talking, don’t be that needy out of towner needing things every few minutes. Get the bib, get the hammer and get to work, get your drinks beforehand Yuengling(since I can’t get it where I’m from). Protip: always ask if they have softshell crab and if they do get that and a stuffed soft shell crab, locals know to get this when available, even if they came here for jumbo steamers. Old bay is good and they use it on everything, but I really was hoping for a proprietary blend. Fries are something I would order with your food, don’t fill up on carbs before the real seafood prize. Hush puppies stay longer so get those. Better value and flavor imo. Don’t come here alone and try and eat a dozen jumbo’s. your wallet and stomach will hate you. Have a variety of food and sizes, I like certain parts of each and usually go large dozen now. Sweet tender meat, split back so they are pretty easy to eat. I also suggest bread to sop up that fat in the shells. I loved the steamed sampler, it’s a straight up seafood value. Pay no mind to the plastic cups, this isn’t fine dining people. The 2 things I didn’t like were the scallops and mussels, both normally better with seasonings and in a highlighted dish. The fried sampler is everything except lobster for fish and if you like sauce this might be better for you. They premix the horseradish in the cocktail sauce. Price can seem high overall, unless you know what you like and what you can finish. There are dozens of crab places in the city, but LP will be my go to in the area for some time.

The crab cake was very good, but small for its price compared to others I’ve had this trip(I’ve been on a crab cake spree). Coleslaw was some of the best I’ve had, I recommend as a side. Curly fries tasted just like Arby’s, which I love, so was worth the $ 1 upgrade. My favorite part though was the pretzel crab dip! Definitely get that. Cream of Crab soup was amazing as well. Also, very local feel and friendly service!

Can’t believe I have been in Baltimore this long and have only recently visited. Came on a Friday evening and was surprised that the place wasn’t packed. Service was fantastic and menu was abundant with many delicious options. We were offered many sauces for our crabs(though they really aren’t needed) and the crab cake was delicious, sizes of crabs were satisfying, and it was a great atmosphere. Old bay fries were also good. Personally, I was a bit disappointed with the hush puppies because they were a bit hard and dense, but they were a good filler. The seafood trio platter was good too. Definitely will come back!

Sometimes you discover places by chance. We noticed LP Steamers as we were waiting at a traffic light on our way to Fort MCHenry National Monument. In fact my son(a Primary schooler) noticed it first. After visiting Fort McHenry, we opened our Unilocal app and lo behold saw this restaurant was close by and Unilocalers had given it a 4 star. Lunch time all the downstairs tables were occupied but one. Friendly folks and service was very cool. Along with the popcorn shrimp from the kids menu they give hot sauce and ketchup. I opted for medium sized steamed crabs and enjoyed getting the meat out and had a wonderful meal. junior opted for dessert oo in the form of a Oreo Cheesecake, Good choice of beers along with my favorite Stella. the restaurant is in the Locust Point neighborhood, don’t know much about Baltimore but this area seems cool. Gave the restaurant 5 stars because along with the food the atmosphere was awesome.

Great crabs! They tend to run out or be out of the large ones when we go, so that kinda sucks for us. Their other stuff like crab cakes, steamed clams, fried scallops are really good too.

Why don’t you eat crabs in Baltimore. If you would like to enjoy local food you must go here! Don’t miss Whole crab. It was a fun moment using a small wood hummer to eat crabs. Also the soft shell crab was one of the signature meals there for sure! But if you wanna enjoy whole crab you shouldn’t wear nice clothe and shouldn’t injure your fingers.

Here are the reasons why I gave this place 5 stars: 1. It is more common than not to get snow crab legs with flimsy shells. The shells broke crisply. 2. Had the blue crab as well. There was no taste of ammonia that I have gotten in other places. 3. The previous 2 comments notes the freshness of the seafood. 4. No drippy water coming out of the crab 5. Reasonable prices It’s rare for me to have all 5 on the list above happen when I eat crab out. The meat was sweet and delicious. We also ordered the crab dip, which was also excellent. We scraped the plate clean. The food complemented well with beer. Service was good. I also liked that you can get as many or as few blue crabs as you want. If you want one blue crab, you can order one blue crab. Highly recommend this place.

We had some friends and family in town that were longing for an authentic Maryland blue crab experience. Most Marylanders would say that you need to go to Annapolis however this was not an option today since we were already in the Inner Harbor area and the baby would not be a happy camper being stuck in traffic. Parking is a pain in the ass for this place as it’s only street parking. We finally ended up finding a spot about a half-mile down the road. The dining area is like a giant maze of hidden rooms and tables tucked away in every nook and cranny. It almost gives you the feel like you are on the pier in a fishing cottage which would not be too far off as the inner harbor is just up the street. Crab is obvious the name of the game here with the daily catch varying in price, size and quantity. If you want the bigguns, you best order them fast as they tend to run out quickly. In my honest opinion, the bigger the better. Some of my native MD peeps will say that the smaller ones have the sweeter meat but I beg to differ. The crabs are cheap and plentiful here for you to do your own scientific analysis.
On our last visit they had gigantic blue crab @ 10.00 per shell. Man these suckers were huge! They were almost dungeness size. It was well worth the $ 3 extra over the large ones as the claws and legs were large enough to yield meat. For the most part I can say that the crab was really fresh. On each visit we seemed to have 1 dud dead crab in every dozen or so thus the 1* deduction. We also ordered a set of oysters on the half and were disappointed probably because of the insanely high standards from the oysters that we ate at Faidleys earlier in the day. I will say that their crab dip and old bay fried(mostly the B-more Mayo) were awesome! We could not get enough to and had to order two full orders of each. LP is a great place for an authentic Maryland blue crab experience in the inner Harbor area. Smash away with confidence. –P

I took my parents here after doing a lot of googling for the best crabs in Baltimore. We decided to try it out. We arrive and they take us upstairs and give us a table. We order some crabs as well as the seafood mixed platter that includes scallops, clams and other seafood. THESCALLOPSWEREPERFECTLYDONE. I have never had better scallops in my life before. They were the most tender soft scallops my mouth has ever tasted. The crabs were also very good! I think this may be my go-to Baltimore seafood place!

We made a few hour stop in Baltimore for lunch and we knew we had to have crabs. We found LP Steamers on Unilocal and decided to go there, and boy was it a good decision! We walked in to the smell of crab and old bay spices. We were able to pick anywhere to sit so we went upstairs which seemed more family friendly with bigger tables and TVs all around. Immediately our table was covered with paper and I knew I was ready to get dirty. We immediately told our waitress we have never done this before and she laughed at us but in a friendly way. She recommended 4 jumbo crabs each and we also got a side of old bay fries and 2 oysters just to taste. I could’ve probably done with only 3 jumbo crabs because I was incredibly full after. First came the oysters, then the outstanding old bay fries, and minutes later a man comes with a tray of crabs and dumps them on our table. We looked at the delicious crabs and then looked at each other and realized we had no idea what we were doing. So we asked the man to come back and teach us, and he grabbed a pair of gloves and happily taught us. He even fed the crab to my friend. After that we were crab experts! The crabs were meaty and delicious, the freshest crab I’ve ever had. The fries also stole the show. The price was a little high but it was well worth it. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a true Maryland crab experience!

Oh mother of heaven.. My wife took me here to get Maryland Blue Crabs before the season ended. She got shrimp that were huge, and full of flavor, and Fish and Chips…(she had a craving).. I got a dozen large steamed crabs baby! They dumped them right on the paper covered table. I went to work. I managed to eat 10, and I was in heaven. Old Bay seasoning done to perfection. I also had corn on the cob that was perfectly cooked. Jake got some lightly breaded chicken tenders, and they were perfect. Crab season is winding down… I would love to go to this place one more time before then, and get 4 steamed medium Maryland Blue crabs… mmmmmmmmm. The staff are SO friendly… give this place a try. Thank you love for the welcome back to the east coast… feast.

I’m not huge on handling my own food, but when you want good and fresh seafood that’s kind of the only way to go! The crab here is delicious. And luckily, I had someone doing the banging and cracking and peeling of the crab shells for me ;) I came with a group of 4 and we ordered a dozen medium-sized hot steamed crabs for $ 5 each. I loved the way the crabs were sautéed and they taste amazing without the side vinegar or butter dippings. We also came after a 7-hour long drive at 9:00 in the evening. It made me realize how great of a meal do-it-yourself crab eating can be after a long drive and meal after meal of just good ol’ McD. I recommend this place. And for those of you who don’t like to get your hands dirty but still want yummy seafood, bring someone who likes to do the cracking and banging(they give you a mini gavel to do that) and you’ll be on your way to a satisfying meal.

Great, fresh seafood! As a Baltimore summer visitor, I came here frequently to take advantage of the awesome seafood selection here. The steamed crabs are pretty much a must-have for the first time coming here. While it requires a bit of effort and skill, the waiters and waitresses will be more than happy to help you dismantle those unruly crabs. I’m a huge fan of Old Bay seasoning, and they really load up their crabs with it! We were also really impressed with the peel n eat shrimp, also coated in a generous portion of Old Bay. They came out piping hot, and to our amazement they has a slit down the back and were deveined for convenient eating! I managed to nab a scallop from a friend’s plate, and those suckers were also killer. Fun place to play with your food, watch the Orioles game, drink a brew, and overdose on seafood and sodium :)

Being a seafood lover, I had to try this place based on the high reviews I found on Unilocal and since I’m in Maryland, I felt like I NEEDED to have crabs. Came here around 7:30 and the wait time given was about 45 minutes to an hour. After seeing so many people come in and out asking them«how much longer» and complaining about their wait and then experiencing it myself, I really think they should invest in a pager system. They still relied on hand writing the party name and a text/call system. Wasn’t reliable at all and created chaos. The food service was quick. We placed our order and received all of our food in a timely manner. –Crab dip was delicious. The menu says it’s served with crackers but it was served with several sticks of pretzel like rolls. Rolls were delicious and add the crab dip, amazing. Great appetizer for a group. –Crabs…loved that it didn’t have too much seasoning/Old Bay on them. It was just the right amount. I LOVE how we could order the crabs individually versus by the ½ dozen or dozen. LOVED that! You are able to order small/medium/large/X-large individually and they are priced reasonably. –Hushpuppies…I love hushpuppies, that’s it. –Fried Oysters… um, I love oysters but I won’t order them here again. They look and tasted like they were pre-made frozen oysters. I personally wouldn’t recommend them. What I loved about this place is the friendliness and amazing service of the staff. I think they did an amazing job on a very busy Saturday night. They absolutely ROCK! Don’t recommend this place for large groups either, you’ll be waiting here for a long time if you come during peak dinner hours.

Drove up to Baltimore from DC to see a soccer game at M&T Bank stadium last weekend. Found(free) street parking relatively easily(and ended up leaving our car there all day to avoid stadium traffic). LP’s had a short wait around 2:30 pm on a saturday, so we ran across the street and had a drink while we waited. We were lead to the roof of LP’s where the two of us had a picnic table to ourselves. There are plenty of paper towels to go around, and it is a fun, laid back atmosphere. The two of us ordered the Natty Boat Load of Food, which was in fact a lot of food, but I think perfect for 2 people to share for lunch, as shellfish isn’t THAT filling. It came with 6 small crabs(but meaty!), mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp and a lobster tail. Oh, and a pitcher of beer!(natty boh, unless you upgrade to sam adams for $ 2, which we did.) The whole experience felt like a good deal, a proper amount of food(even if my boyfriend later admonished me for not ordering hush puppies), and our waiter could not have been nicer. I would tell anyone looking for an authentic crab experience to head to Locust Point and order themselves some fresh steamed maryland crabs!

Came here with a group of 9 and sat on the top floor. Our waitress was another one of those«I’m going to avoid eye contact so I don’t have to interact with you» types, the woes of large groups and automatic gratuity. Our order: — two dozen blue crabs– liked the ample amount of Old Bay — scallops– tender, yum Old Bay — hush puppies– I keep expected to be wowed by these, they were like every other hush puppy I’ve had in the last few years — crab dip– welcomed this because we were starving but there were no identifiable bits of crab present, tasted okay but I like my crab dips chunky This meal was more about the experience than eating good crab, I might go back with family but it’s not something I would do regularly.
