Lunch on a Monday we were craving Mexican food. From the salsa to the margaritas to the meal we were not disappointed. I had a watermelon margarita and a house. Delicious. Carne asada tacos, meat tender and perfect. Shrimp quesadillas. Even the rice was good and I am not a rice and beans fan. Great place and food. Staff was very polite and nice as well.

I love my friends at Bikram Yoga Baltimore, so much so that I will do an outdoor yoga class with my mat and my face on the ground of the beer soaked power plant floor. And on top that, have a few drinks at Mex. I can tell you with absolute certainty that I will never go back to this place — well, unless there is another outdoor class and peer pressure from the instructors. First off, it will take about 20 min for you to get 6 drinks, even when you are the only table in the place and 5 of those drinks are beer and wine. Don’t ask me how long, if you actually order some margaritas. I shall say, the bartender can make a decent bloody mary, which is a perfect after yoga, midday drink. It was spicy and flavorful, but certainly not very strong. That was fine since it was the middle of the day and I was driving. If you like Mexican food, I would stop at the drinks. I’ve tried the salsa and the queso. They both taste like nothing — the grocery store jars have more flavor, and are certainly cheaper. The guacamole comes in a large mortar bowl, which would indicate that it is made fresh as you order. Taste wise, its missing the lime, the cilantro, the spice and the salt. Chips are good though — covered in old bay — finally something with taste. No wonder, considering everything else is bland. There are no pictures, since I was completely underwhelmed from the moment I stepped across the threshold. I truly enjoy Aggio and Joe Squared and places like this do not help those survive.

Not sure why the score is so low here. Very pleaaed with the quality of the food(esp the flank steak) and rhe service(thanks Chelsea). Good drinks as well. Wife aays they need to put a door in the bathroom stall, hence the 3 stars

Background I typically give 2 or 3 stars for a business when I can take it or leave it and more than likely won’t return unless I have a reason to. This place was chosen by a coworker under the assumption that there would be some sort of mexicon(costume party) event. Maybe it was later that evening but idk. We were there for happy hour and left around 8:30 and didn’t see anyone in any kind of costume. Anyway, we decided to dress up in tutu’s and converse for another coworker’s surprise bachelorette party. Service Seated immediately and the server was nice. However, she forgot my blue cheese and had to be reminded after I was half way through the wings. The cheese fajitas that were ordered were given to someone else at another table. Not really sure how you split orders between tables. And she also forgot to bring a drink that came after we all had eaten. Food I wasn’t really a fan of the packaged nachos with shredded chicken. The wings were fried and sauced to perfection and had just the right amount of spiciness. However, the spicy wings along with the chipotle ranch dressing made for too much spice so I asked to substitute the ranch dressing for blue cheese and was charged .50. I know it’s a little petty but it really annoys me when restaurants charge extra for condiments, especially when I’m just substituting for the condiment that the meal came with. The chicken fajitas were ok although usual and so were the steak fajitas. The bride ordered the steak dinner and said it was just ok. Her opinion may be a little biased though because she owns a Philippine restaurant. Drinks The red sangria was very weak and tasted like it was made with cheap ginger ale and some kind of juice. So I also ordered the strawberry margarita and that was gawd awful. Took two sips and couldn’t struggle to finish it. Honestly I’m the go to happy hour for the cheap food kind of girl so the fact that this place did not have a happy hour food menu really annoyed me. And given the taste of the food they should probably just give it away. Yeah, I probably won’t return. The patio made for good people watching though. Almost earned another star for that alone.

In dropped in here for a quick drink on a weekend. The mixed drinks were fine, but the real highlight was the bachelorette party that strolled in and started dancing on the stage. That was unexpected. If you are looking for a bar scene with dancing ladies, this is the spot for you!

I love this place, the food is good, the drinks are ok but the prices are reasonable sometimes they have a band right outside. The waiters and waitress are very friendly and I like to go for the ambiance.

Came here on Cinco de Mayo for their killer deals: $ 1 tacos, half off appetizers and $ 0.50 margaritas! The margaritas went up by $ 1 every hour past 11 am. For the price I paid, it was certainly a good deal. I got 2 tacos, 4 margaritas, and guacamole, which ended up being only $ 10. The tacos weren’t the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life but they were filling and I would say well worth $ 1. The guacamole also came in a huge stone bowl so I was pretty pleased with that. The margaritas were average — they ran out of glasses pretty quickly and had to use plastic cups which is not a huge deal but just something I feel like should have been anticipated. The service was quite slow though — our waitress was nice but it was only her and another person trying to get everyone their drinks and food, so it took a while for us to get everything we ordered. There could have been more festive decorations and music playing which could have made it a more fun atmosphere but overall decent lunch break and good way to celebrate cinco de mayo!

Staff was friendly. Restaurant is clean. Nice atmosphere. But, it stops there. Maybe being from the west coast has spoiled me, but this is not authentic. It’s not even«fusion»(which, I hate that term even exists because I have yet to find good fusion food, but that is another story). We stumbled upon this place while at Maryland Deathfest, hungry and wanting to sit in a cool area, so we decided to give this place a go. We got the nachos(no meat) and vegetable tacos. The cheese was«Mex» cheese, which is basically like thise bags of mixed cheeses you get from Albertsons and they throw the label«Mex Blend». What constitutes for a Mex blend, I don’t even know, but it wasn’t good and it tasted like plastic. There were a lot of other ingredients on the nachos though that it made the cheese ok to deal with. The tacos were ok. They were bland. The taco plate comes with 3 tacos, nexican rice and black beans. My boyfriend and I could only have one taco each. We didn’t even try having the last. We didn’t even try ordering drinks. The drinks were expensive and the beers weren’t even a decent selection. The dude who served us gave us a discount so instead of paying $ 18(yes, each dish was $ 9) we were billed $ 16. We still wanted to give him a decent tip though because he was at least very nice and would talk to us every now and then about MDF. Needless to say, we need to check Unilocal next time. Didn’t realize this place had such low reviews. Womp womp. It has such potential too.

We went there on a Sunday and got all you can drink margaritas that were awsome. The bartender Sarah was super cute and friendly. She made AWESOME jalapeño margaritas! the food was also good.

this is the worst dining experience I have had in ages, slow slow service, food was ok but portions were tiny, bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Worst of all shared our dissatisfaction with the manager and he did nothing and dismissed us. Will never go back and would not recommend anyone else to waste their time/money at Mex either.

This place definitely caters to the after dark crowd, but the food is just fine. They don’t have the traditional 8 pages menu of most Mexican restaurants, but Mex isn’t really about the food. It’s not bad food, but it’s not really where you want to go if you need a Mexican food fix. They do frozen margaritas in the big batch format, so I went with a margarita on the rocks. Tasted fine, although drink service was terribly slow for a mostly empty evening. The food was just fine, but don’t bother ordering a side salad — what they threw into a bowl doesn’t really count as a salad. Just go for it and get the fries.(Yep, fries at a Mexican restaurant.) The guacamole had a little too much citrus flavor, but we got a decent amount for the price. I’d go again if it were convenient and others wanted to go, but it’s not going to be my go-to Mexican spot. But then again, they’re not trying to be.

2 stars because the waitress was nice and management was very involved. However, the food falls short from mexican cuisine. Perhaps their inventory is not that of a mexican restaurant but that of an american restaurant disguised as a mexican restaurant. The drinks were watered down… specially if you have to ask if there is any alcohol in this beverage. Beers surpisingly enough tasted stail and flat which is pretty strange when youre drinking from the draft beers. Overall the experience was less than satisfactory and fell way below even to the standards of a biligerant drunk, which is impossible to be due to the lack of alcohol in the drinks Recap: meat: very chewy and rubbery and not cooked as directed. Drinks: very much watered down. Custmer service: very nice and caring. Hopefully they use this medium as a way to self reflect and look at what theyre doing right and what they are doing wrong. Best of luck to you guys and hopefully next time we visit it will pale in comparison to our first visit. Cheers!

Started off the night with the AC above our table dripping on our food. Our server told the manager and he could care less, didn’t even come apologize. The server seemed ok but both mine and my GF’s orders weren’t that satisfying. I would stick to somewhere else, Taco Bell or Chipotle are more consistent.

Not even sure why I gave it 2 stars I guess im just too nice or maybe that’s because I keep winning happy hours some kind of way. Anyway I went here for my bday bash that i signed up for thinking it would be good but I was wrong. When you win a happy hour or get wristbands to drink at a discount price/free the drinks are horrible. Very watered down, more ice than drinks, etc. I don’t know if they don’t want you to get super drunk and acting a fool so that’s why they don’t give you much alcohol but the whole purpose of me going to a bar is to get drunk. For all that I could have stayed home. You have to order shots to even get a buzz to have a good time. the music is bland a bunch of old stuff I heard in the 90’s. No point in me going back again. Ive had better MUCHBETTER! They can keep the free happy hours with the watered drinks. My friends and I will would much rather go to fells point where we can get trashed!

Came here for my brother’s graduation night. They had a special for JHU grads and family/friend. Basic drinks were $ 3! Music was top 40. Bar was filled with raging college kids… but it was graduation night, so wouldn’t expect anything less. Nice patio area. Fun for dancing and they have poles and stage for those who wanna get risky ;) I enjoyed the night but would never come here by choice. A little to wild for me. Perfect for the newly 21 year olds.

I came up here for a «battle of the bands» that a friend was participating in. I always find it weird to visit a bar during the daytime, and the place was kind of empty. Still, they must have had several dozen customers so it’s not like there wasn’t much going on. My first impressions were«Oh, another meh bar.» In daylight, with empty booths, the bar kind of has a divey feel to it. It might be better at night, when the place is packed and there’s more going on. Still, there was nothing from the décor that sent me running and our tables were clean. I went to the bar and ordered some drinks and food, as they didn’t have any table servers. Unfortunately, they only had two bartenders handling both sides of the place, and they were a little overwhelmed. It took a while to get a drink in and some more time for my food. I don’t blame the staff(who were cordial albeit rushed), but if you’re going to have an event you might want to add at least one more person during the day. I was a bit disappointed that they had no Midori for a sour, and ended up with a «melonball» that tasted like kool-aid instead. However, their simple mixed drinks were fine, and my friend said he was quite pleased with the amount of fine gin he had in his gin-and-tonic. What sold me was the food, and all I had were the nachos. Now, this is Power Planet Live!, so expect the prices to be pushed a bit. I think it was $ 10 or so for the plate of nachos, but what came out was ~excellent~. A variety of tortilla chips, well saturated with beans and a scattering of jalapeños, topped with a big glob each of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. What really sold it was the steak, tender large chunks of actual ~steak~ strips rather than the wannabe chunks other places uses. So, I may try them again at night to see if they can up my opinion. From what I’ve seen, though, it’s an alright establishment but with some tasty food.

I’m only rating this place because I was with a friend who won a happy hour. For that reason and that reason alone this place gets four stars… I wear a band and what, get $ 4 crown and ginger, $ 3 margaritas and rail drinks(oh and btw I’m too old for rail. Rail = fail)? Now on to the other randoms, its in Power Plant!(blah) Live. Typically, I loathe this place and the many wack nuts and youngin’s that frequent. Le yikes! Unless you are on the fabulous HH list, you you will have to pay to get in after 10p, I have absolutely no idea why though. So all in all, just get there before that time. Inside, it is a typical bar, no qualms there. I know they served food, but I got there too late to try it out. Muzak: I’d be in the middle of the groove and BAM! I’d be hit with some country. I didn’t get the djs music selection. Now, had I not gotten such a great deal on my whiskey ‘ol Mex would’ve gotten a lesser review. But I do love my whiskey! Cheers!
