Just got a savory crêpe from their stand at the UMMC Farmer’s Market and it was pretty tasty. The ingredients were fresh(mushrooms, spinach, red peppers, cheese) and the batter for the crêpe is great — light and just a little sweet. No complaints about the food, but I’m taking off a few stars for, for lack of a better word, poor community values. There was an event today outside the hospital where professionals from the different schools of UMB were taking elementary school kids out to the Farmer’s Market to help them understand how to make smart choices about food. They had«play money» that would be reimbursed later. Long story short, one of the organizers of the event had just come to the stand to ask if they would accept the play money, and the workers said yes. Just a few minutes later, a kid comes by asking for $ 3 lemonade with the play money and was just flat-out rejected and dismissed. Like… really? Shame on you for being just a terrible human being! So yeah, you might have good crepes, but, as a Baltimorean, I was just appalled by what I saw. I’m sure these two workers might not reflect the entire company, but if I’m ever in Fed Hill, I will think twice before spending my real money here.

Yes, its a little weird that a place would sell both mexican dishes and crepes, but somehow it just works. Every crêpe I have tried has been very good, and the tacos are great as well. You can see that everything is made fresh. Their green and red sauces are also awesome. The only downside is the hours –it usually does not open until later in the night to accomodate the drunk crowd. Best crêpe is the bacon/egg/green onion/chili sauce. Just out of this world.

Absolutely delicious. This sets up around my work for lunch time once a week, and the lines around around the parking lot. There’s a reason for this, they are quick and DELICIOUS! I haven’t had a single thing here that I didn’t like. My favorite in the Mexican Wrap, but I’ve tried Crepes(mine was a chicken/cheesy heaven), Quesadillas, and a Rice Bowl before. My go to is always the Mexican Wrap(as is a lot of people I work with). It’s great, try it. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve traveled the entire US for amazing burritos and this to date may have been the most authentic non Americanized crap I’ve been getting everywhere else. Super fresh, spicy, flavorful and quick service. Totally a late night hotspot for late night food. They bump house music while they work behind the counter. Best burritos in Baltimore. Just an FYI there a little on the small side. Get the carnitas.

The savory crepes are delicious and being located in Federall Hill surrounded by bars, it is open later night hours. The ingredients are fresh and the quality is matched by the quantity. I have been to this location several times, and the staff is always friendly.

Ruben’s crepes are great! I echo all of the other reviews. While the idea of a Mexican crêpe is strange to think about, it is delicious to eat! I usually have the savory crepes for lunch, but occasionally I splurge and get a sweet crêpe for dessert. Right now, posted hours are 4 pm to 2 am. However, you can occasionally catch someone there for lunch time. It’s worth walking by! I would go more if their lunch hours were more consistent(and posted!)

I have made fun of this restaurant for a solid 6 months, ever since moving to Federal Hill(it says Ruben’s Crepes and Mexican Food on the sign… it is just an odd combination, and for a long time, I thought they were claiming to offer ruben sandwiches, crepes, and Mexican food). I was so very wrong. I went in the other day and got a savory crêpe loaded with cheese, vegetables, and chorizo… and it was GOOD. It was like a French quesadilla. I thought it was a little on the pricey side(~$ 11 for the crêpe), but it was substantial enough for a meal. I will definitely be going back to try the sweet crepes! Plan to carry out, this store is extraordinarily small.

Sweet or savory? Sweet or savory? It’s the eternal crêpe dilemma. The only satisfying solution is to go with both or you’ll be yearning for the other option halfway through your meal. In Ruben’s case, the Mexican variety is his specialty but the nutella/fruit decision is never wrong. There are tons of options and ideas listed, and I’m going to try something new every time until I’ve exhausted the possibilities. I just wish they would add a little bit *more* of whatever goodies you’ve chosen to your crêpe… next time I’ll chime up as they are making it in front of me. The crepes by themselves are so thin and buttery that one by itself with a little cinnamon sugar makes a nice little snack. The prices are right(pretty much anything you want for under 10 bucks) not to mention the hours: due to recent demand, Ruben’s is now open super late night on the weekends. By the way, Ruben himself is an absolute peach!

(08/18/2010) I love food from trucks! A truck from Ruben’s used to show up at work every Wednesday during the pleasant summer months. I usually had the special of the day: carne(beef) asada, cilantro, white onion, tomatoes, queso fresco, salsa verde. Fillings were fresh(except for the leathery pieces of beef), crêpe was a little sweet. Another nice crêpe was the #2(Ham, Apple, Maple, Spinach, Muenster Cheese). Probably have tried 8 or 9 different savory crêpe combos from there. My faves are always the ones with the Mexican-style ingredients. Don’t be afraid of the eggs and beans one! We miss them at work. Have never been to the store location(so can’t comment on that), but if it’s a crêpe and Ruben and his crew are cooking it, I bet it’s good.

What a great find! Yummy, hot, homemade crepes with all sorts of delicious fillings are served fresh from this small, very casual restaurant in Federal Hill on Charles St. My husband and I went for dinner. We got four of the $ 4 crêpe specials of the day– the baby spinach, asiago, and black pepper crêpe; the egg and cheddar cheese crêpe; the banana and nutella crêpe; and the apple, butter, and cinnamon crêpe. It ended up being quite filling for $ 16. First of all, the crepes themselves were delicious– thin and hot. But we loved all four of the crepes we tried, and it’s very reasonably priced(aside from the specials, typical prices are in the $ 6-$ 8 range). There are many great sounding flavors– I really want to try the peanut butter, chocolate, marshmallow, and banana crêpe. They also sell some Mexican food– which sounded good as well. Given the price and the quality, I’m hoping this place does well– it’s a great little place to have around for lunch or an easy dinner.
