Morse block deli is a great place. They’ve got great sandwiches that represent great quality meat and locally source high quality ingredients. Quantity is is good as well. They have creative concoctions that are fun, seasonal and delicious. While your at it pick up some legendary Vermont craft beer! You can even fill a growler!

Morse Block Deli has been such a fantastic addition to downtown Barre. It’s got locally sourced food, Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, and consistently excellent specials(my husband and I just had a panini made with caramelized apples, cheddar, dill havarti, and ham on local bread. Amazing.). All told, the food is high quality, the staff are engaging, and the space is always clean and inviting. They also showcase artwork on the walls with rotating displays by different artists, which I personally think is pretty cool. They also have some good beers on tap and you can buy growlers. This place just keeps getting better.

Went to the deli yesterday with my boyfriend while we were doing some leaf peeping. We ordered a full sub, a half sub, got two small bags of chips and two drinks and with tip, the bill was $ 34, and totally not worth it. It was obvious that we weren’t going to be eating cheap when we ordered the sandwiches, but were expecting huge, awesome sandwiches. Totally and completely underwhelmed. The toppings were so skimpy it was laughable, they give you more at subway. My sandwich(the Eastwood) supposedly had horseradish mayo on it, but I couldn’t taste it at all. Boyfriend just started working in Barre too and was looking for good lunch spots, but this won’t be one of them. If you want a yummy lunch that doesn’t empty your pockets, go to 2 Loco Guys a little further down the street.

Very good, high quality hand crafted sandwiches. Bear in mind the prices reflect that but also remember you will NOT be getting Subway style dreck… These are excellent alternatives to fast food chains and dives. I can honestly say it’s a home run every time.

I stopped here a couple times on my way back home to Maine or to Mass for a late lunch and I’m never disappointed. I’ve tried a couple different sandwiches and wraps, as well as a custom wrap. There’s always a ton of meat and fresh veggies loaded on, which is why I go a little out my way instead of stopping for crappy highway food. I’ve found that compared to prices in Burlington is actually less expensive and everyone is always super nice and accommodating. We also jumped at the chance to go to the special 5 course Valentine’s Day dinner and meet new tell you, it was superb. Those guys know what they’re doing. I can’t even begin to describe how delicious everything was, and all in season and fresh. I was tempted to lick the plates clean after each course.

Stopped here for lunch on Saturday and it was wonderful. The staff was super friendly and they custom made me a salad. Good quality food is worth every penny to me and they certainly care about supporting other local businesses and feeding their customers good stuff. I will definitely be back! Plus they have a punch card to get your 11th sandwich or salad free.

I swung through here on the way from Btown to Mass. It’s a few miles off the highway but was looking for a better sandwich than scrubway. Stopped by the Morse Block Deli. I had the Hitchcock which is a take on the classic Italian sandwich. Perfect amount of meat and toppings. Meat was fresh as were the vegetables but what really stuck out for me was the bread. I got the sub roll which looks like a simple white bread roll but it’s much more than that. just tough enough to keep the sandwich together but soft enough to make it a 5 star sandwich. With my sandwich, I had an ice cold Moosehead draft and sampled the Kombucha. Moosehead was great, Kombucha… I don’t know, not terrible but probably won’t make my grocery list. While there I got to witness someone take on and finish the Undertaker which is 2 lbs of pastrami on two slices of rye. Not for me but I gave props to that brave soul. On the wall they have some cool local artwork. They also have some board games if you have some time to kill. I haven’t sampled the other delis in the area but I’d be willing to bet they have the best sandwiches in the area. Worth the couple extra bucks for a great local lunch. I will definitely stop in again if I’m in the area.

I had the Hitchcock and it was great. The meats are top notch Boars Head. The lettuce is fresh and not just iceberg. Great pickles! I think the owner made my sandwich and he enjoyed talking about how they want to make a really good sandwich. Bread for sub roll was also amazing!

Awesome classic subs and sandwiches. I am a bit of a sandwich snob and these folks hit the mark. Good bread, really good meat and the creative or classic touch depending on the day and at least how I have felt. Highly recommended it to anyone in the Barre area or driving through worth it for sure.

Great new addition to the Barre area, I mean how can you go wrong with BOARSHEAD meat. No where around the area offers boars head, and you can even have cold cuts sliced right there for you to take home. Awesome environment and friendly staff to, all in all this was an A+ experience.

The price for a full submarine roll of 12 dollars was a reason I was avoiding going here. I finally decided to check it out and see if it was really worth 12 dollars. I do have to say it was very worth it. They put ALOT of meat in these sandwiches. The meat is very high quality and delicious. What surprised me was how good their tomatoes were. Subway may be cheaper but my body felt way better after eating half of a sub here. Plus half a sub filled me up so I get Two meals out of my purchase. I highly recommend checking this place out. Ide give them 5 stars but I still feel that the price is to high overall. Ill eat here occasionally as a treat but I couldn’t go here all the time because of the price.

Ordered a half Hitchock, it was all right. It actually tasted like pizza with the oregano oil. I also got chips and a drink, rounding my lunch to about $ 10. My sandwich was just okay, but my friend got a BLT and the lettuce was delicate and fresh and the tomato was great. Tried to chit chat with the staff, but they seemed a little uninterested. I did point out to my sandwich«artist» that he was punching me out on the register while wearing greasy gloves that he had worn to prepare my sandwich. If I really want to spend $ 10 on lunch, I might give them a try again. The breakfast sandwiches looked good.

Service was very friendly. We tried just one of their signature sandwiches It was good but didn’t make me go wow like I was hoping. Enough meat but I think too much on the condiments and onions. Next time will build my own to order. Pretty good sandwich shop though, glad to have it in Barre and leaving room for a rating upgrade. Oh and they use Boar’s Head which is one of the best national/mass meat producers so very high quality.

Morse Block Deli is a great addition to downtown Barre. They offer some signature sandwiches, but also do custom order. Ingredients are fresh and local when possible. They use great bread. I got The Granite City sandwich the first time around. Next time, I’m going to try one of their breakfast sandwiches!
