Days Inn Barstow

Friendly staff. No frills room. But they are clean and don’t creep you out or feel dirty. I stayed here one night last week and now tonight. I would stay here again.

I prefer DaysInn when I travel, this is by far the worst place I’ve been at. Where to start…
Washroom is in bad shape
No shampoo/​body wash in the room.
Restroom vent makes noise as if you are beside 747
Breakfast had spoiled food
Some of the wall chargers are in bad shape (not usable)
Never again

Well I can’t blame them for this. Number one the out side venders that book them need to stop over booking them. My problem was i found bed bugs! Btw I’m a inspector for Terminix. First I noticed a white powder on the corners of the floor. I know from experience it looked like a poison. So I started doing my day to day inspection. I took off the back board and sure enough a nice fat juicy bed bug. Yet again the staff was great. But they need to make sure the professionals they use for bed bugs do the proper treatment. And putting a powder down isn’t enough. Cut the story short I got my money back and got out of there. I tell this story so others can help prevent the spreading of bed bugs. Look for black spots near corners and look in the tiniest holes.

So we needed a cheap hotel for six as a stopping point on the way to Vegas. This is not the Four Seasons and doesn’t pretend to be. The bed was comfortable and not a cockroach to be seen. The front desk clerk warned us not to drink the water (but shared she worked with a doctor who did) so with that conflicting advice in mind, I risked a small sip to take some Ibuprofen (I lived and did not glow front rocket fuel laced water).
As a bonus, we were awoken extra early by a woman roaming the hallway screaming, «you got lucky!!!». Inasmuch as I did not get lucky the night before, I knew that human alarm was not for me. I turned over and tried to sleep another hour.
We’d stay here again but just for one night. It’s Barstow– not a place to visit and stay but a place to use (but not abuse) on the way to Vegas.

The guy at check in was nice. That’s all the good I have to say. Smelled really bad. Toilet paper in the toilet on arrival. Drapes wouldn’t close all the way. I thought Days Inn would at least be clean.

Clean and good room with fridge and microwave. Breakfast not the best but okay… Luckily there’s a Starbucks nearby, lots of Fast Food and a Walmart.

Would be giving this hotel ZERO stars if Unilocal let me. Firstly, reception lady was the rudest person we have ever met! Secondly, had to return to office four times before demanding our money back. First they gave us keys to a dirty room with the sheets on the floor. Tooo keys back. Got keys to another room. Keys wouldn’t open door. Returned to office another two times. Waste of our time. Pathetic service. Go two mins down the road to super 8 and pay a cheaper rate with NICER rooms and great customer service. Receptionist even said we could park in handicap because we had so much stuff in our truck. Never will return to days inn!!!

Check in was fast and easy. That’s all they had going for them. The place smells like beer and sex. No hot water for a shower, no use in calling the front desk. By the time it gets fixed or I’d get a new room I’d have to leave. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were all flat. The heater unit in the room is loud and has a vibration inside that won’t go away.
I would not recommend staying here.

I’ve always found that when on a road trip you can count on Days Inn to consistently deliver…
1) A clean, comfortable room
2) Reasonable pricing ($ 70 ish with taxes)
3) Better than average breakfast room and food in the morning.
While this Days Inn delivered 1&2, it disappointed on 3.
The breakfast consisted of Hostess mini doughnuts, Juices and a couple of cereals. Thats it. And the OJ was horrible. That would have to qualify as the BARE minimum.
And FYI, I’ve probably stayed at 20 Days Inns across the country over the last 10 years, so I am aware of what the others offer. While I’ll continue to frequent Days Inns on road trips… I’ll be looking at other options the next time I’m in Barstow… which is 2 – 3 times a year.

If you just need an affordable place to crash for the night that accepts dogs, this will do the job. Don’t expect more than you pay for. The rooms are a bit tacky and the décor can use some updating. The beds are not the most comfortable things in the world. It’s a motel with outside doors, no elevators. There is a soda machine that doesn’t rip you off ($ 1.00 per soda) outside and there are outdoor laundry facilities. The included breakfast is a joke — donuts and bagels. Bring a power strip if you need to plug anything in — the ones that exist are already used. The empty ones are behind the door, rendering them useless. Fridge never really got cool, and we had to unplug the microwave to even plug the fridge in. There are probably better choices in the area.

I just decided to stop by here for a quick nap. It was a ok deal for $ 50. The room was ok, the ac was really loud, the shower was a little on the dirty side. But it did serve its purpose.

Malheureusement, c’était le seul hôtel qui se trouvait parfaitement sur notre route entre Le grand Canyon et Los Angeles. Alors par dépit on l’a choisit. J’ai cherché partout ce cafard que heureusement je n’ai pas trouvé!
Bön hôtel pour le prix payé.

Please tell me you spent less than $ 60 a night on this place. It’s a so-​so motel. Not the worst, not the best. I would have three starred it, except despite it being totally empty when we got there the person working the desk put someone right next to our room and they were totally loud. I mean come on! What is the point of that?

I was fairly underwhelmed by this hotel to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much and was still a little disappointed. Reception was friendly and checked us in quickly. We had booked two rooms side by side. The one room had a door frame which had clearly had someone trying to break down the door, as it was split and splintered and was missing the metal guide-​plate for the latch. The door closed, but wasn’t ideal.
Then there was a rather startling lack of power points in the room. There were two behind the door, which mean you couldn’t really leave anything to charge there as any enthusiastic opening of the door would crush whatever was plugged in there. The other power outlet was a triple adaptor, which had the television, microwave, clock radio and refrigerator trying to share it. Clearly one of the 4 is not going to be able to be plugged in. Also, the triple-​adaptor also kept falling out of the plug point due to the weight of cables. For the modern traveler, even ones who are prepared to forgo the luxuries for budget accommodation, this is still a bit of a problem, as we all carry several devices which all need charging.
The mattresses, were not, well, all that good. It was better than sleeping on the floor, to be sure, but after two nights on the bed my hips were really painful, and I wouldn’t have been able to last another night on them. If you like a really firm bed you’ll be OK, otherwise it would be wise to avoid.
Cleanliness was OK, albeit a little dusty in places, and the bath towels were a little small, more like slightly large hand towels than bath towels.
The other consideration is that finding food in Barstow anywhere is fairly challenging. Even allowing for it being a small town in the middle of nowhere where one shouldn’t expect too much and should certainly not expect the cuisine levels one finds in the San Francisco South Bay and Peninsula area, Barstow really really falls short on this one.
The only place where we found we could actually get a decent meal was, ironically, the local iHop.

It’s a 2-​star, so expect 2-​star. I didn’t check in here so they could WOW me, but if you need a clean bed, hot showers with good water pressure, spacious room, free wi-​fi and parking, then this is the place to go. AND they have a microwave and fridge in the room!!! I’ve paid more to stay at 4 star hotels and all I get for splurging is more money lost to daily internet and parking fees, and behold, no microwave. If you’re lucky you might get a fridge.
I can just walk downstairs in the morning and grab a hot beverage and breakfast pastries. If you’ve ever paid for a coffee and a donut/​bagel/​other breakfast pastry, then how can you complain about the FREE, EDIBLE breakfast? Sorry it’s not steak and eggs, bro.
The only thing that made me laugh about this Days Inn is the fact that their «laundry room» is basically one washer and one dryer sitting outside next to the ice machine.
No complaints about this place at all. If you’re passing through, this is a good hotel. I do agree the rate can be lower but it’s not terrible (rounding up, I paid $ 62 and that includes tax).

This place tries really hard, but is it still a two star hotel. Anything right next to a truck stop is really hard to get anything above a 2.
The breakfast was standard continental.

For $ 59.99 a night, this place doesn’t hit the mark. Although there was no real bad experience, I expected a little better room and service.
The bed cover had some spots which mad us throw away the cover on the floor.
The morning breakfast was OK.
