Super 8 Barstow

This is a 5-​Star motel for Barstow. Very clean, affordable and a comfortable bed. Had a bit of noise at 1:45 am but not enough to complain about. This was the second time I have stayed here and it will not be the last.

WOW!!! What a delightful suprise! A clean more than affodable room in Barstow! Beautiful grounds and beautiful rooms! Clean and fresh rooms with comfy beds and linens! The room was beautifully decorated and well stocked! Would stay here again!

I made a reservation and arranged to stay here on Thursday, the 14^th of April. Having travelled, and slept in my RV for years, I have been skeptical about motel cleanliness. So, imagine my surprise when I found my room clean and well furnished. (Yes, I lifted the bed covers to check for bed bugs… none found). I would recommend this place highly. The hosts were friendly and I enjoyed a clean bed, lots of outlets, a new flat TV with lots of cable channels, coffee pot and coffee and tea, fluffy towels, complimentary toiletries and convenient, and safe parking. They offer their guests hot coffee at the check-​in desk and offer complimentary breakfast the next morning. Frankly, having not stayed in motels much of late, I was amazed at what you get for a very reasonable price. Thank you Super 8! Next time I’m out your way, I’ll certainly visit you again!

Clean rooms. Service is not the friendliest, but good

Found the place just «OK» and not up to the standards I’ve encountered at several other Super-8’s recently. It was fairly clean, appeared safe, and was relatively quiet, but the building really does need a tear-​down and start-​over.
It’s obviously a place where the owners have taken over a property that was allowed to seriously decline which they are trying to bring back. Very limited parking options. Not particularly handicapped accessible. The rooms are small’ish, with limited storage and countertop space.
After 5 days, moved down the road to the Travelodge which I found to be much better managed – by resident managers rather than the typical minimum-​wage folks who really don’t have the skills or aptitude to work anywhere else. Much better storage and clothes hanging space, with a separate space for the vanity, refrig, microwave, clothes hanging area and entry to the bathroom. Much bigger bathtub.

My partner and I enjoyed this hotel! Nice and clean. Pet friendly. And they had drinks and snacks at the 24 hour front desk! :) the staff was nice. Although we didn’t swim in the pool, we looked at it and it was clean and looked like a nice swimming area. :)

Comfortable and clean. However, when we went to the breakfast early the next morning, waffles were the main event, and they were out of syrup! There were several employees on staff – we were surprised they didn’t have someone run up to a nearby store to grab some. Dry waffles – not so good :-) The dining room staffer just shrugged and said, «We’re out.» :-(

My husband woke up to a roach on his side of the bed. I turned on all of the lights & we got out of there as fast as we could. In Barstow, I’d say spend a few ore bucks or move on.

We stayed at the Super 8 on our way out of CA moving to MO. We needed a quick inexpensive night stay to lighten our drive the next morning to AZ. Our room was $ 43.26. We checked in late around 9pm and found the room to be clean and offered much more than we expected. We fell asleep immediately. The next morning we noticed a slight smell to the room — not unbearable but not desirable. Our room was nonsmoking but there were smokers right outside as there was an ash tray. Breakfast is included but we opted out in order to get an earlier start. Staff was friendly. Rooms open to the outside.

Clean, quiet, safe, courteous staff, and a comfortable bed. We just needed a dog-​friendly stop off to sleep for a few hours on a long road trip. This isn’t a luxurious experience, but it doesn’t claim to be. If you need a place while on the road, this is a safe bet.

Stayed here last night. Very well kept hotel. Had an Adobe type building. Everything was clean and comfortable.

Very pleasantly surprised how nice this motel is. Starting with the front desk staff, he was very nice and pleasant. The room is a basic room with a small newer fridge and microwave which is standard with most cheaper Wyndham rooms. The room looked to be newly redesigned and the housekeeper took the time to make a cute little towel elephant for the bed. It was not noisy at all and the grounds were nice too. Free breakfast was better than some but not the best, does have waffles. Flat screen has Time Warner with OnDemand TV shows and movies. I would highly recommend this Super 8.

The rooms are nice, they’ve added flat-​screen TVs and updated the bedding. The breakfast was a nice addition with waffles, cereal, pastries, juice and coffee. It’s also a really easy location right off of the freeway and only a few blocks from Starbucks.

Value for price paid — 5.
My boyfriend lives in LA and me in Vegas and so the romantic city of Barstow is often our middle meeting grounds. We’ve stayed at a lot of different places but this was by far the most convenient, quietest, cleanest and most affordable of all the places we’ve stayed. The checkin lady, though nice, was a tad awkward, but all the same. The room was pleasant and it was cheaper than its competitors In the same vicinity.

Summary: Good clean room, free wifi, microwave and fridge, decent furnishings, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Would have been a 4 star, or possibly I wouldn’t have written a review at all, but here we are at 2 stars. Lets see, I was pricing rooms in Barstow on my
app, i saw what looked like a good deal, 46 $ for a room (queen, non smoking) at Super 8. Before booking it on a travel site, I always like to call the hotel to see if the room is available and to see if their price is the same or only slightly higher, because if I can, I like to support businesses without middle men. A nice lady said the nonsmoking queen was available and would be 59.99 plus tax. I said no thanks, and booked it on

So I arrive to check in 10 minutes later, say i have a reservation, and the gentleman behind the counter says yes, a queen bed in a smoking room. No, I reserved a nonsmoking room. He tells me that since I booked through «the other guys» that they don’t pass on my requests to super 8. WRONG!!! They do! They always pass on the info, super8 just doesn’t have to give it to me if they don’t have it (which i know they do). He then tells me that he can give me a smoking room, and i can’t do anything about it, because NO REFUNDS. WRONG AGAIN!!! I can cancel through
anytime.
At this point I’m sure I’m red in the face with anger, but I don’t say anything. My girlfriend says «oh sorry, we’ll know next time etc etc etc. After being a total dick, he says oh, but i do have a non smoking room, in fact we used to have 30 smoking rooms but now we only have 5.
Wow!!! So you have a ton of these rooms (the place is empty) but you felt like you needed to be super rude and drag us through the mud to make a point. Not only were you WRONG on both the points you tried to make, but you FAILED in customer service while you tried to make them.
After reliving all of this in my head, I’ve taken off another star, customer service is the most important thing in business, and in this day in age, everyone books online. If you do book online, stay away from here, if you pay full price with a reservation made by the front desk, go on ahead I’m sure you’ll be fine.

BEWARE, BED BUGS! I stayed there for a week for work. I thought I felt itchy at night several times, but was working 13 hour days and didn’t spend much time worrying about it. By the time I got home I had several bite marks, but wasn’t sure where they came from. Sure enough, while unpacking my bag of clothing, I found a bed bug crawling around. I had stayed in no other hotels recently and was working outside so I would not have come in contact with them anywhere else. When I called the hotel back to tell them they have bed bugs they just tried to claim I must have gotten them from somewhere else. I’m completely appalled. They seemed very nice and helpful while I was there, but that changed quickly.

I get it. It’s a Super 8. You get what you pay for.
However…
I checked into my room and noticed the curtains weren’t closed. So I tried to slide them close and to my surprise they wouldn’t close. So, after fighting them for about ten minutes, I decided to head back down to the front desk to inquire about a different room. The front desk was very friendly and was willing to help me out by moving me into a new room. As I got into my new room I decided to turn the heater on as it was freezing outside (and inside). The wall heater shot out all kinds of dust. And filled the room with the nastiest stench.
I had to then air out my new room to which brought my room to an even colder temp. Haha.
I went down to tell the front desk and he just said, «sorry, it’s been awhile since they have been turned on.»
This review is purely for the room/​quality/​maintenance.
The service was great.

Ground floor room with 2 queen beds, a dresser, mini-​fridge & microwave, desk between beds, flat screen TV on wall in front of 1 bed, sink, closet rack with hangers, toilet & tub/​shower in separate room.
Pros:
*Inexpensive. $ 49/​night over New Years Eve
*WiFi is adequate.
*One block from freeway exit. Very easy on/​off from I-​15.
*Cable TV (Time Warner) has 40+ channels, including ION, 4 ESPNs, Syfy, Travel, HGTV, Bravo, Animal Planet, Food Network, Golf channel, Speed, 3 shopping and 5 news channels.
*Very friendly front desk clerk. He even refunded my money when the vending machine ate my money.
*Very clean and nice smelling room. Toiletries are a step above what you usually get at motels for the same price.
*Beds were firm, pillows gave enough support.
*Towels and bed linens appeared to be brand new. Not at all flimsy or thin.
Cons:
*Not enough electrical outlets. 2 outlets by desk being used by lamp and alarm clock, 1 outlet by dresser. I’m typing this with the computer at the end of the bed plugged into the only extra outlet with the desk chair pulled up to the bed.
2 lights over desk (one for each bed), but only an additional light over one bed, not both.
*Ground floor rooms #112−116 are ½ floor below level of parking lot so you either have to jump up/​down on the retaining wall or walk halfway down to the stairs or handicap ramp. Stairs are metal with handrails on either side.
*Fridge is just a large fridge — no freezer compartment
*“Coffeemaker” is a single cup, mesh pod (no name brand coffee), brewed right into cup (no coffeepot) model. Not very convenient for refilling thermos in the morning. Lobby has awful Folgers brand in machine. Should have brought my own coffeemaker to brew my.
*Printed TV channel guide said 7 HBO channels were available, but they were not available when I switched to them
*TV is hanging on the wall, facing one bed. When you’re laying on the other bed, it is very uncomfortable to watch the TV.
*What I thought was a 2^nd dresser was actually a very tall wooden box with metal strips on top. Took me a while to figure out it’s a luggage rack.
*Continental «breakfast» is all prepackaged and not very healthy. Premade waffle battle from a can, premade brown sugar «syrup» from a can, conventional apples & oranges, 2 kinds of Kelloggs cereal, whole milk only, little 3 oz containers of yogurt, white and slightly darker bread slices, prepackaged oatmeal.
*Wifi took some getting used to in order to access it. Once you connect to the Super8 network, if you go to your homepage, screen says UNAVAILABLE. What you need to do then is to manually type in some other website and the Super8 logon page comes up. Then log in using the password and you can use it.
All in all, a good deal for the price.

Very good value. Clean room, friendly staff, comfortable bed, free wifi, quiet, nice shower. It is ideal for those who want a comfortable night’s sleep for a small amount of money.

This was a good location for me. I had been travelling since east of Albuquerque at a small town called Moriarty. The side tracks and what not really messed with timing and instead of being able to make it further into California, I settled for 150 some miles from Arizona, at Barstow.
Sadly, this location is squeezed. The rooms were reasonable, but I parked at the office in the front of the building and couldn’t find another place nearer the room.
The room hadn’t been renovated, but it had newer fabrics and it was clean. The bathtub looked bad but worked fine. I didn’t try the TV but the internet access was not particularly good but was free.
The price was under $ 60.00 for the night, which is inexpensive. I can’t give it 5 stars, but it was a place to sleep and I had no trouble.
Okay, I’ve given it another star because I had left my special memory foam pillow there and they held onto it and cheerfully returned it when I was in town again.
