Decent shop but the main guy who works there is kind of a jerk. I don’t know if he’s the manager but he’s been rude enough to come close to gettin’ a slap the two times I’ve been in there. Won’t go back just because of him. Store is nice, though. EDIT: Found out the guy’s name is Joel and I think he’s the owner. Trust me, you’ll feel like slapping this dude also if you have to deal with him.

These guys rock. They are friendly, helpful and professional. I wanted to make an investment in a new mountain bike. I was nervous about the investment because I had a bottom-of-the-line hard tail and wanted to buy something that would blow my old bike out of the water. Many bike & ski shops have sales people who make you feel like an idiot when you don’t know what you are doing. These guys were super busy, yet Bryce took more than an hour to walk me through the pros and cons of three bikes. In the end, I bought a Santa Cruz Juliana Joplin. Patrick took the time to show me all the ins and outs of the bike, helped me take notes and made sure I was comfortable before I left. Thanks, guys. I’ll be back.

What an excellent shop and customer experience. I used this shop to rent a road bike during a recent trip to Aspen. The staff was very friendly and made sure that all my needs where taken care off. Hats of to Jeremy, the manager, who went out of his way to make sure everything was in check. This shop is great, and has a «Mom and Pop» shop feel. I recommend them for rentals and general overall service. I will definitely use the shop again if I am back in the Aspen area in the future.

This was where I ended up purchasing my Giant Reign 0, due to the great deal, availability, and knowledge of the staff. Coming here, I was a bit skeptical because they didn’t appear to have as big of selection as previous shops that I went to, such as Ajax, but it turned out that there was a large warehouse in back, with exactly what I wanted. Coming in, we were helped immediately, and I wasn’t overly pressured to spend extra on what I didn’t need. The guy knew what he was talking about, and was very friendly. I was able to compare bikes, and get good information leading to my decision. I was able to have them hold the bike, until I was ready to buy after reading reviews online. He also allowed me to test-ride it which ended up sealing the deal. This was overall my favorite bike shop in the valley, after visiting 6 others. I’ll definitely come back to get the future-discounted safety gear.

One of the more solid local bike shops in the Roaring Fork Valley, Basalt Bike & Ski definitely deserves your consideration if you need repair or are in the market for a new bike. Their house brands are Giant, Cannondale, Turner and more. I had a finicky shock serviced here, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of work, turn around time and cost. Highly recommended! You might find a bike cheaper on the internet, but you get what you pay for. You won’t get a probuild, a custom fitting, tune-ups & adjustments after the cables stretch and parts get broken in — or even a warranty. Support local business — you won’t regret it!
