From the Hampton Inn, cross the street to the west and go towards the Mexican restaurant, walking down the street on the north side. About halfway down the building there will be an unmarked door. This is the place. Dark and depending on who’s here, it’s smokey as well. Main bar area, another area with tables and electric dart games, and a room with a pool table. Beer selection: Better than some establishments in Baton Rouge, but I didn’t really see anything in the cooler(cooler is in a room off the bar, and even though it feels weird, they’ll let you go in and browse) that I hadn’t had before. Lots of Shiner. I got a big bottle of Chimay Blue. Bayou Teche Pale Ale. BATONROUGEDARTSTORY #2: Decent plastic-tipped darts, and fifty cents per person. Best darts in Baton Rouge as far as I’m concerned.

I would consider me and my friends regulars for we come here after work maybe once a week. Last week will be my last time ever stepping a foot inside this bar. This bartender who also calls themselves a manager is highly unprofessional. She let everyone know in the bar 20 minutes before closing that it’s last call for drinks. Ok cool not a problem, but as she proceeded to scream in the bar, using vulgar language to express her frustration of having to close, and insulting paying customers to hurry up and finish their drinks so they can close crossed the line. Customers couldn’t believe what they were hearing. We paid to listen to music that she denied to play because she was trying to clean. Me and my friends agreed we will never go there again and honestly I wish there was a owner who I could contact about this terrible experience. This being said there are in fact good bartenders here and hard workers, unfortunately one«manager» had to ruin the night not only for me but all 6 of my other friends.

I’ve been to this bar a couple of times but tonight there were two bartenders that I’m pretty sure were high and they did not know how to make any drinks including a cranberry and vodka! still a cool place to grab a drink if your only drinking straight liquor on the rocks. That’s what I ended up doing. ONTHEPLUSSIDE: Apparently they have a good bottled beer selection for all you beer drinkers.

This is a great bar that few people know about. It’s hard to find because the sign is so small but that’s part of the intent!(Just find Azteca’s and go downstairs). The bar has a great dive feel but an upscale drink selection. No beers on tap but lots of great bottles at reasonable prices. Expect to see the owner Gary in there at least half the time and he’s always chatting with customers. Most of the patrons are regulars and know the bartenders but they are friendly to visitors who are just passing through. There are tv’s, a cool digital jukebox, and darts to keep you entertained.

This little underground gem is a great spot for gathering with friends and becoming aquainted with the neighborhood characters. This is one of the oldest bars in downtown Baton Rouge and the staff are pretty friendly. You can run up in there on a Wednesday at 4:45 pm and catch a western movie with $ 1.50 off all drinks and .50 cents off Pabst. Or stumble in later to soak up some moon light. The crowd is laid back and thirsty. Great makins for a local dive. You can also play all of your favorite songs on their juke box($ 1 = 1 song). The bartenders and patrons do not mind at all if you bolt out lyrics either. You might even meet a man named Fish while you are there. If you are into games, there’s pool and darts in the back. You might even catch me there this weekend!

This is a great little bar. I usually come Thursdays for trivia. The place has a pretty good crowd of regulars, and since it’s pretty small it doesn’t take long to get to know everyone. They have a really good selection of liquor and an expansive beer list. The reason I’m only giving it four stars though is because of the beer list. While it is large, it could be better. That being said, it’s probably one of the top three beer bars in Baton Rouge.
