Stopped here for dinner with a friend after work one day. It was around 5PMish so there was only one other table in the restaurant. My friend ordered the PokeBowl and a roll. The presentation was nice, but tasted like it lacked something. I ordered the Teriyaki steak with no sauce and cooked medium. The order took excessively long being there were only two tables in the restaurant. Our food came out and our server was MIA for about 15 minutes or so before checking back on us. Sadly, my steak was way overcooked and way over-salted. It tasted like a rubbery piece of beef dipped in salt and black pepper. The server offered to have the kitchen make another one but my friend already finished most of her meal and I hate sending food back to the kitchen. Ended up not ordering anything else and went home hungry. Overall: Was not the best dining experience in Baton Rouge. The interior is nice and well kept. The server was nice but should definitely be more attentive. :-/

Wow! What happened to this place? This used to be my go to sushi fix after tailgating for LSU games. I dropped by here for lunch a few weeks ago and ate at the bar. The restaurant was very dimly lit. The waiter appeared high as a kite and was very slow in taking my order. There was music blaring of goth and heavy metal origin and it was not pleasant at all. The food was even worse. I ate half of it just because I knew it would be a while before my waiter returned. I won’t be back for a while.

After trying many other sushi places. I decided to try hello sushi… Was greeted and seated quickly… My server was extremely polite and made some small talk. I ordered the tuna Tataki. It was very fresh and very tasty. I only gave it 4 stars because they didn’t have sweet tea and it was a little pricey… It would be a good place to have a date night at.

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in BR. Definitely top five. My husband and I came here for their happy hour specials– half off select appetizers and $ 5 drink specials. We started with the Sushi Egg Rolls and Fried Mushrooms. Both dishes are deep fried and delicious. I particularly like the egg rolls, which are filled with a sushi krab mixture. We also ordered the Gogo Roll, Snow Crab Roll, and Yellowtail Roll. The latter two are standard among restaurants in the area but the Gogo is a mixture of salmon, tuna, and crab and a really great value. We also really like the Bomb Roll and Steak Teriyaki dish, which we’ve had in multiple occasions. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night so service was a bit slower than usual, which is the only reason I deducted a star.

Hello sushi is my favorite sushi place. The food is always so fresh and delicious. The best part though is definitely the service! The people that work there are so nice and attentive! And the sushi chefs are the best! I’d give this place 10 stars if I could!

Dined in during their renovation on the inside. The server was very attentive. Gave great recommendations and even allowed my guest and I to stay later after business hours. I had the volcano roll and the big khauna was shared between my guest and I. I was even talked into trying the shaki. My guest loved it but it wasn’t my cup of tea. Great food though although I expected more for the price seeing as it’s not an upscale sushi restaurant.

Dropped by for dinner and it was a nice experience. We sat at the sushi bar and the service was great, the sushi chefs made nice small talk, the general manager even came by a few times to check that everything was okay, and our server was very quick and friendly. We split the seaweed salad and that may be my fav thing, i love the flavor and they don’t skimp on the seafood. It’s a big portion too, so easy so split between 2 people. My shrimp fried dumplings came out quickly and were nice and hot. The edamame was as good as edamame gets. No sushi for me this time around but everything they put out looked great.

It is an honor that I name their newest sushi roll– Hello there! This time we came for something other than sushi, we got Yaki Udon and Eel rice bowl. Both were pretty great, and for a dinner entrée you get a lot for the price! An entrée comes with a big size salad & a soup(miso or clear). Loved the clear soup– tons of mushrooms!!! Super tasty! I do think the Yaki Udon could have less chicken and more udon! Don’t have any complaint on the eel rice bowl, it was awesome!

Met a friend here for supper. I was surprised by the décor– super modern and very clean. We ordered fried pickled okra and scallops. All delicious! Edamame was on the house since I checked in with Unilocal!(BOOM!) For my entrée I had the bowl of ramen and the Cali rolls! The ramen bowl was HUGE! Like the size of a cauldron– I ate some, gave some to my friend, and still had two servings for lunch the next day! Our waitress was a little strange– lack of star here. Otherwise it was fantastic. I would totally go back!

Got a 225 deal so we decided to try this place out. We the sake menu was impressive. The best we have seen in BR so far. We got a bottle, because you have to have sake with sushi. We choose the pear flavored one. It was sweet, but not overly so. Definite pear undertones. We ordered the sushi egg rolls to start. They looked great. They were cooked perfectly. Crispy and not oily. The flavors a disappointment. Lots of fish, but that was all we tasted. We were expecting a bit more flavor. The wasabi sauce served with it was good and did add some much need flavor. We ordered three sushi rolls to round out our meal: Ninja, Bön Temps and stop, drop and roll. The sushi arrived quickly and looked great. We were a bit surprised that each roll was only 5 pieces. The sushi was fresh and all the rolls tasted good. The rice to ingredients ratio was good. You could taste all the ingredients. I hate when rolls are ¾ rice. My favorite was the Bön Temps roll. We enjoyed the sake and the sushi, but we were not wowed by the experience. The eggrolls were bland and the sushi a bit pricey for what we got. If we did not have the 225 deal, we would have felt we paid to much. We would come back for the sake and maybe happy hour when sushi is 20% off.

Went to Hello Sushi last night with my girlfriend and we had an amazing experience. This sushi is simply amazing! The crunchy rolls, the spider rolls, the kalamari, the edamame, everything was great. Our server as well, Gabi! Great job! Thanks for the sauces and an awesome time! Much recommended! Thank you all very much!

The Highland Rd. Location of Hello Sushi is much better in my opinion because of the atmosphere, amazing wait staff and the fried pound cake and coconut deep fried ice cream. My waitress, Gabi was so down to earth, helpful and just real cool. She was nice enough to bring me over 11 different sauces to sample with my rolls. We had edamame, crunchy rolls, the Boom Boom calamari, the spider roll and of course the amazing deep fried dessert. The art, soundscape and cool led light give it a great going out feel without over doing it. Do not leave Hello Sushi by Highland Rd without getting dessert. Enjoy indulging at my new favorite sushi spot.

When you walk in the place looks really nice and they have really cool décor because apparently they just finished remodeling it. The service was good, the server was very attentive and nice. However, the sushi I felt was overpriced and not super great. The Spider roll was $ 12 so I felt I could’ve gotten more than 5 pieces and the soft-shell crab was kind of soggy and tasteless. The Rock n Roll was $ 9, AGAIN only 5 pieces and it lacked flavor as well. In my opinion, Sushi Masa & Sushi Village give you more sushi and I feel both of those places just have better sushi. The salads are another story, they were so good! The salads were actually better than the sushi. Honestly I would just come back for the Snowcrab salad because it was delicious! The Snowcrab salad had fresh avocado around it and a huge mound of crabmeat in the middle. The Seaweed salad was also good and they gave you a whole lot of it. They were definitely not skimpy with the amount of stuff they gave you in the salads. I’m glad my friend and I each decided to get a salad too because otherwise we would’ve definitely had to order a third roll to share.

So me n 2 of my friends went here for dinner recently… Our wait for everything was ridiculously long but we didn’t complain. The server knew we shouldn’t have to wait so long for everything so the manager gave us a coupon for next time we came in. I really loved that they didn’t wait for a complaint to show that they know that we shouldn’t have waited that long. So last time I went here our service was wonderful. They got different menus & added the new rolls to them. Appetizers are great. They have a decent happy hour. & I loved my sushi rolls. Got yaki udon to go & I loved it !

Good food and service today. The restaurant was too cold, however. Otherwise I’d have given a 5 star rating. Great appetizer was the sushi egg roll! Also the moon sushi(with scallops) were excellent. Our server(India?) was super friendly and attentive; couldn’t ask for better that she was tonight! Also their steamed brown rice is better than fried rice any day of the week

The sushi was good but wayy over priced in my opinion. I ordered a 10.00 specialty roll and it came with only 5 pieces. The ginger dressing also tasted like bottle dressing. There went 20.00.

Modern lines and yummy rolls. Hello Sushi on Highland is a fun place for a good bite. A mix of tables and booths, the seating can accommodate any size party. However, it can get very loud! The menu is extensive and imaginative. Even the house martinis are creative. I tried the Tigertini and was not disappointed. If you like your martini with a fruity sweet kick, order up! The presentation of the food is pleasing. We sampled the Baked Salmon, Johnny roll, and Lunar roll. The lunar was cooked scallops with avocado and was fresh and delicious. The Johnny roll is a good deep fried option. Hello sushi has all the staples we’ve come to expect from sushi places such as edamame, gyoza dumplings, baked mussels, etc. Overall, a fun place to grab a bite with friends.

This is my favorite chill place to get some delicious sushi. In my eyes, Hello Sushi’s Crunchy Roll cannot be beat. It’s perfectly simple. I recommend the Johnny Roll for sushi newbies. It’s delicious Louisiana seafood with rice and spices wrapped in seaweed and deep fried. It is a phenomenal creation. They also have great sushi egg rolls and snow crab salad. Their service is pretty fast and the staff has been friendly every time I’ve been.

And so begins my quest to become the queen of my neighborhood. We took the dogs to the BREC Burbank Retriever Training Pond Friday night to swim(or in the Dobermans case, almost drown, and flail pathetically to the bank) and on our way home, called up a ToGo order from Hello, Sushi. It was easy to order, they repeated the order back to us, told us how much, and which location we’d ordered from, which is great! I’d never been to this location, and it’s pretty nice inside, the hostess was courteous and our food was ready when I walked in. It’s a cool, fairly large dining area with the sushi counter front and center! I’d love to come back and sit down at a later date, I bet they make good cocktails too! We ordered a Cali roll, a Crunchy Roll, a Tuna Roll, crab salad, and Yellowfin sashimi. The order came with chopsticks and napkins and we provided our own Tamari sauce. Everything was good, and the crab salad had a ton of avocado fanned around it, yummy! Our order came to $ 29 which I think is a great price for a good amount of food, and I appreciate that they make their rolls into 8 pieces instead of 6 like some places, because I CAN’T be the only one who feels really awkward eating sushi in public taking huge bites?!
