Here on business. Ordered pizza. Received and took a video of the pizza that was delivered to me from this restaurant. Before eating, I sent video to a few of my Chicago and NY peeps who know good thin crust pizza so they could witness possibly the worst garbage pie ever made. About a thimble full of sauce was used along with a cup of cheese. As for the crust, I think they go to Dominos or PapaJohn stores, hunt thru the garbage at night and recycle the old dough. Just pitiful.

My family has been here more than a dozen times. When we want Italian we come here. The garlic bread is a mini pizza in itself, I totally recommend it. Although you can get it with an entrée so cognizant of that when you order. We’ve had a variety of their pizza’s and they’re all good. I haven’t had one yet we didn’t like. I myself like the Garlic Shrimp Pizza. The Calzone’s are ginormous and out of this world and the noodle dishes are all more than one person can eat in a single setting. I have gotten pizza to go from here, and it was as good as it was when we came here to eat. Their recipe appears to be unique, the texture and crust of the pizza is finely crafted, the ingredients all appear to be fresh and not(prepackaged frozen or institutional) in any way. I haven’t really had a pizza like it so I always know what to expect when coming here. It’s great comfort food and great Italian fare. The service is always attentive at filling our drinks. Food is brought out pretty quickly and is always hot, fresh and the delivery is always very well done. It’s a nice place to bring the family or a large group of people, you’ll always get seating and a great meal to boot. I see so many 4 star reviews, that should be 5’s. This place deserve’s better attention, I think maybe it’s actually too big for it’s own location. Now I will say that coming here is a bit like going into a museum or a library, the place is always empty. I like places that have lots of people, this must be the location, I don’t think it’s the best, at the most I’ve only ever see this place maybe 1⁄3 full of people. Yet I won’t hold that against them. Will definitely be back.

I’ve eaten there a couple of times. Everything I’ve ever had was good. Last time I was there, I had the calzone. It was very good. Service is also top level.

I didn’t like the taste of the pizza. The bread tasted like cardboard. The wings were okay. The staff seemed friendly, they deliver, and I think the food has a satisfaction guarantee. I was stuck with mine bc I had it delivered and I didn’t want to deal with that hassle. I wouldn’t revisit this location.

This place is so yummy! The chicken florentine calzone is amazing and I love that they deliver to the Springlake subdivision even though we’re pretty far from them. They are so nice there too that when I called to ask if they delivered to us, they said we could order for delivery even though they were closing in 10 minutes! This is a great place to take kids because it’s usually not busy at all. Everything tastes very fresh, and it is very responsibly priced.

I went to UNO for a while and I was a regular at their location on Elysian Fields in New Orleans. When I discovered that there was an Italian Pie right down the street from my office in BR, I was SO excited. From what I can tell, the food is the same. Both times I’ve gone, the produce was fresh and the pizza was awesome. The dining room was mostly empty and there was only one waitress. I have no idea what they would have done if there was a lunch rush. But, the place was clean, the food was good, and the lunch special is pretty affordable(italian salad &8 inch pizza for $ 6.99).

My son’s ravioli was so tough he couldn’t bite through it so we sent it back and got buttered noodles that were chewable but flavorless. My meal was the roasted chicken wrap – a few bites in I noticed that much of the chicken was still pink on the inside. Never going to this location again.

Have eaten here a couple times. I remember that the pizza was good, but most recently had the calzone. That thing was huge! The bread was really fresh, and it tasted great. I have only gotten pick-up orders and they are pretty quick. The calzones were the Italian all meat, and chicken Florentine. Both were delicious, but my wife and I agreed that the Florentine got to be a bit much. We were glad to be able to swap halves of each to mix-it-up. Either way, we could not eat the whole thing: BIG calzones. And, I love that they give a couple cups of red sauce to dip.

Called in a large pepperoni pizza for take out. I was out the door for only $ 12.84 and man the dough on this pizza was fresh. It smelled Sooo good. My husband and I gobbled the whole thing up in what seemed like seconds. We usually don’t put a dent in a large pizza so that says something. I’d love to try a calzone so we’ll definitely be back.

I stopped by here for a quick wrap(eggplant), was decent. not impressed by the menu. I’m guessing their pizza might be worth trying, decent lunch specials but nothing to be blown away by. This location does not have the gelato either. Might need to go back & try the pizza sometime to get a better perspective.

This place is more of a to-go place than sit down although they have a huge sitting area. We all orders calzones, and I was very upset at what hey charged for mine. I asked if they offered a veggie one and she said well you can have what’s on the veggie pizza and I said sure. Well my husband got the bill and they charged for each ingredient that was put in mine and something that’s I think $ 7 ended up being $ 15!!! I was livid, but knew the little girl that was working there didn’t care too much. So just beware if you like veggie and not meat.

I really hope the managers and owners of restaurants read these reviews so they know they’ve lost some high spending customers. My friend and I were craving Italian a little later in the evening and found The Original Italian Pie was luckily open until 10 on Saturday nights. When we arrived at 9pm, the Open sign was flashing and the door confirmed they were open until 10pm. When we entered, we were greeted with«We close in 10 minutes.», not«hello», not«good evening», not even a smile. We were the only table in the restaurant and sat in a booth close to the registers and kitchen, if they were in a hurry to get out, I supposed it would be polite to make the waitress not have to walk so far and waste time with walking across the restaurant. I normally start with a water and get a drink when the meal arrives, but since they we were rushed, I only ordered a water, my friend asked for lemons twice before any were brought to her. After taking our drink orders, the waitress made sure to again state that they closed in 10 minutes. We quickly looked over the menue and chose the TomMasso’s venetian chicken. It took nearly 10 minutes before the waitress came back to our table to take our order. I also ordered the mozzerella sticks. I let the waitress know that we would take them whenever they came out, but not to bother making them a seperate appatizer. The meals came with a salad and garlic bread. The salads came out relatively quickly, and were an average small salad. The mozzerella sticks came out next but were cold. The next time we saw the waitress she was bringing us our entrees. I didn’t bother complaining about the mozzerella sticks, I figured dinner would be good and like she continued to remind us once again after she dropped off the entre, «we close in 10 minutes.» The TomMasso’s Venetian Chicken is listed on the menue as «Lightly breaded chicken breast, roasted with a delicate spinach and artichoke heart stuffing. Served resting on our classic marinara and topped with creamy Alfredo. Comes with rotini in herbed garlic butter.” — – What we got was cold angel hair pasta with a creamy sauce on one plate with our garlic bread, with still frozen«chicken» fingers with a scoop of spinach and artichoke dip on top, in a soup of marinera and alfredo on another plate. It was completely unattractive, and the fact it was still cold and frozen in the middle made it completely unedible, I had a few bites of the garlic bread, which was tepid at best, but still rather good in flavor. After about 5 minutes, the waitress came back and refilled my water and asked if she could bring us the checks, if we needed boxes(for our full plates), «…and just so you know, we close at 10», and walked away. I was really hoping that today, when I took it out of the fridge and warmed it up it was going to be good, instead, I am even more disappointed. If there was any chicken inside that fried, over-seasoned and now completely soggy breading, I never found it(and I looked). I ended up just throwing the entire thing away. I understand that Baton Rouge isn’t an Italian town and that my friend and I were the last table of the night, but there is no excuse for what we experienced last night. I’d rather eat at Fazoli’s, a fast-food«Italian» chain, or even eat McDonalds’ pink goo chicken nuggets than eat at The Original Italian Pie again.

This place gets only 4 stars from me due to lack of cleanliness. Yes the restaurant is kept up and orderly looking, but when you actually sit down at the table, dirt starts to become noticable as you look around. I chose a window table both times I’ve gone to this restaurant. Both times, the window ledge had dead bugs, dust, and crumbs on it. This ledge is right at table level so if you sneeze in that direction?, guess what!, you’ll get a dead bug that will float into your food. This second time I ate here, I decided to move from that wonderful-view table to a table that was further away from the window but I could still look outside. Then I noticed the Olive Oil bottle on the table wasn’t clean. Smudgy fingerprints on it. Then I noticed smudgy finger prints on the windows too. And if that wasn’t enough, then I noticed the plastic salt and pepper shakers were smudgy black & dirty on the top of them(they’re white salt and pepper shakers). I didn’t really want to touch anything, having personal issues with germs, but I knew the food would make up for it. At both tables, the tabletops and chairs were clean, however. What I didn’t understand was the cleaning products odor I smelled in the air. I wanted to smell waefs of heavy tomato sauce cooking or dough baking, or the smell of pepperoni sizzling. Instead all I smelled was cleaning products. That kind of killed the ambiance for me. The food served here is really good. I won’t go as far as saying it’s the best pizza or sauce I’ve ever had, but it’s really good. I will however say it’s the best Calzone I’ve ever had. Their calzones are out of this world. The marinara they serve with them tho, leaves a bit to be desired. I had to add salt to mine. It has a watery tomatoey flavor, however it is still thick enough to dip your pizza in. The dough for the calzone is excellent!!!, ditto for the cheese! They pile plenty of cheese on it, and the dough has this butteriness to it while still being crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The pepperoni was sliced a bit thin for me, but I prefer it to be more thin than thick. The salad they served me before the calzone was really good. Ceasar salad has their own special ceasar dressing on it. Different than all the other ceasar dressings out there, but still recognizable. My father enjoyed his Italian salad which had everything in it: thinly sliced red onion strips, grape tomatoes, fresh iceburg lettuce(that’s a plus when it’s fresh and not turning pink or black on the stem ends), green bell pepper strips thinly sliced, black olives, thinly sliced mushrooms, green olives, pepperoni slices, and mozzarella chunks all dressed with an italian vinagrette. My father also had the lasagna which looked awesome! Melty cheese all over the place covering a healthy portion(not just a little square) of beef lasagna which he said was better than some of the other high-end italian restaurants in town. I’ve also tried the baked spicy chicken wings which were very big and meaty(A+!) and the mozzarella sticks which were excellent. Really good crust which was seasoned nicely, but again, the marinara sauce had barely any flavor. Not just somewhat bland, extremely bland! The waiter was the same person who waited on me both times I’ve eaten here and he was super friendly, super professional and very informative and helpful. Wish they had more of him in other restaurants! Both of my visit, I noticed there was only 1 other couple eating in this restaurant. They don’t seem to get a lot of dine-in patrons as much as they had take-out patrons. I’m sure they must pack this place during lunch hours or on weekends when there’s an LSU ballgame. This would be a perfect place for that. They had an outdoor eating area, but the tables looked like they hadn’t been used in quite some time. No umbrellas, no landscaping for the area other than some privacy boxwood bushes, and there were no chairs out there. Didn’t look too inviting. They need to work on that. So all in all, the food is probably a B+ and the restaurant cleanliness would be a C-. Due to the super nice waiter and good food, I will defintely return to try more items on the menu knowing their pastas must be really good since the lasagna rated so highly with my father… he’s picky! Their menu has a lot of choices on it so I already have my eyes set on what I will try next: the 4 Cheese Ravioli or the Spinach Lasagna! Stay tuned for my update on this restaurant and meanwhile, hopefully, they will take care of the cleaning issues! But please do try their food if all you do is order take-out. It’s well worth it!
