Excellent whiskey selection! Excellent hand crafted cocktails with a very knowledgeable staff. I first came here with a friend when we came to catch a Tigers game. Wow were we impressed. Was not expecting such quality from the location it was in. We were going to just stop in and stayed the rest of the evening. I look forward to coming back each time in Baton Rouge

Sharp dressed man. Brilliant selection and always great atmosphere and company. Owner and staff are very knowledgeable. I would be there once a week if I didn’t live so far away. My favorite bar so far.

Classic. That’s the word that first comes to mind when you walk in. The look, the feel, wood, whiskey, live music(fantastic keyboard player), lighting that’s not too much and not too dim — right in that sweet spot, excellent selection of scotches, whiskeys and bourbons, bartenders that are friendly and knowledgeable without being pretentious, custom cocktails that are well-crafted and cleverly described — accurate, funny, with a touch of attitude — which is what I expect from a high end southern bar. Great spot, not for rookies though. If you’re looking for Bud Light, try Walmart. This is the real thing.

The atmosphere here is really relaxing, the service was great and the menu had a large variety, the drinks are fairly priced and phenomenal. The bartenders were great and I am truly impressed at how amazing the drinks are, perfectly blended and made. The live band was also enjoyable to listen to, I love the dim lighting of the bar it makes the whole experience relaxing and a good time

This place is really laid back and comfortable. The drinks are really really good. I had the whiskey sour and the penny for your thoughts was for my girlfriend. Both tasted great. The bartenders were really good and attentive. This is the best bar in Baton Rouge I’ve been to.

This bar was a pleasant surprise. It is the hidden Jem of Baton Rouge for sure! The staff were prompt and personable and the owner Arthur is very knowledgable about whisky. If you are a whisky lover you will love the selection and reasonable prices if you are a newbie whisky drinker the staff will introduce you to a world of flavors that are sure to please! Stop in and try it out! You won’t be disappointed!

Hip, sexy & playful ambiance. Obviously they know their whiskies, but are never snooty & really go out of their way to see that you get a drink just right for you. The once a month«women & whiskey«tasting is just Not to be missed. Good happy hour specials, & live music make a fun place for date night. The small plates menu is a tad pricey, but ultimately top notch and just what you would expect from at this classy place.

If you love whiskey and a sophisticated cocktail prepared for you, bookmark this place, now! I love this place and totally dig the atmosphere at Lock and Key Whiskey Bar. It’s fun to sit at the bar and interact with the super knowledgeable bartenders(Garrison Waite being one of them). Get ready to be schooled in what you are drinking; a lot more fun that school was or will ever be though. The drinks are stiff and go down smooth. Tell them what you like, your preferred spirit and they will customize something for you. Trust me, you will not be sorry! Sit and lounge, entertain a small group, just whatever you do, promise me one thing! Relax! This is the type of environment where you want to take the time to do that. The moment I walked into there, I was mesmerized. I immediately though, have I been teleported to another city? All you need to search, Baton Rouge has some seriously out-of-this world bars and this just happens to be one of them. During my last visit, I probably had the best whiskey sour, which was unforgettable! More like this, please =)

Well over 200 bottles of brown whisk(e)y deliciousness, this gem hidden among the Hooters and pool hall, Lock and Key is well established with some of the locals as a post dinner date location. With dark wood and coffee colored leather chairs and sofas, the mini grand in the back will play some of the best lounge jazz classical music to sip to. The bartenders here remembered one of my buddies from LAST year — we were there for a show and he found this place and she STILL remembered him a year later — kinda upset he didn’t take me last year! Anyhoo — I don’t want to share this because I don’t want it to get busy, but I have to tell you because it would be a disservice to the business. So please wet your whistle at this custom drink warm bodied wholesome and delicious bar in Baton Rouge! Enjoy!

If you’re a fan of whiskey as I am, go here. Plain and simple. A rather classy place with the occasional jazz band. A huge variety of whiskeys and all sorts of mixed drinks to go with. I go here every time I’m in the area. Garrison is also one of the best bartenders around!

Best bar in town for good cocktails, even though it’s in a strip mall. The bartenders know how to make anything without having to look it up. They even know variations you’ve never considered. And they all have massive beards that seem to grow as you drink. Finally, they will talk to you at the bar instead of looking at you like you are a pathetic lonely loser.(Look out for the biggest, oldest and beardiest one, though. When he drinks, he can get mean.) The seats are comfortable and the crowd is diverse. Pricey.

Dropped in for an early after lunch drink before opening hours… bartender graciously let us in and we order a few rounds. A flight of whiskey, the Ginger Grant, and the Sweet-T Sway got us on the way to an eventful evening. From what I hear this place is in full swing and bumping with locals when the night time falls. Yall know I’m a Jack and Ginger Ale kinda girl so I’ll be back. It’s a must visit when I’m the BR area.

I’m in love with this place. Do yourself a favor and check it out, even if you’re not a huge fan of whiskey. The drinks are very creative. The bartenders here area some of the best in town.

Wow! I was sure Baton Rouge would never get a place like this and I’m glad I was wrong. The setting is very intimate and cozy. The walls are all dark stained wood and the lights are low. It’s a great place to bring a date. You can choose to sit at the bar or a small table. They also have couches. They serve a small selection of artisan type appetizers that I’m dying to try(mainly the one with lobster). On the weekend they have live music(piano, saxophone, base chello). So no booty dancing here. I recommend a drink that is not on the menu for people who like bourbon called the ruby slipper. I also tried a bloody mary made with scotch that was amazing. I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with any thing you order.

I know. You’re thinking, «5 stars?! Really??» Yes. Really. This place… I’m saying… this is my new«place». Fantastic atmosphere: check. Great small plates and app bits: Yup. Welcoming and Knowledgable staff: uh huh. This place has it all! I went in after looking for a spot after work. Another Unilocaler highly recommended it and I was dazzled by his review, so… I stopped in. The bartenders were super helpful, made me a bale full of suggestions, and away we went. I had a gorgeous whiskey flight and an even better whiskey/champagne cocktail that blew my mind! Like I said, it’s my new place. You should go. It may become your place too.

First things first: this is a whiskey bar. That’s what they intend to be, and that’s what I’m judging them on. This one’s a winner. They unashamedly admit a meager collection of lesser spirits, and completely rock an amazing collection of whiskeys, from arcane scotches to the over-hyped bourbon which shall not be named(bring it up and they’ll down-sell you to an equally old and more reasonable alternative). I sampled whiskey, and that’s what you should do — their flights are well put-together if you need a place to start. They are served on finished whiskey cask staves with a decanter of water — which is just awesome. If you want something more refreshing, their cocktail menu is designed to look familiar and pay tribute to the classics, but made with the character of the bar. The ambiance is clean, cool, and comfortable, perfect for sipping contemplatively. It gets loud on busy nights especially when there’s jazz playing, but you can always find a comfy corner to hang out in.

If you are looking for a laid back speakeasy feel this is it. Cocktails are spot on, service is on it and you feel as if you are drinking at home. Only wish we had one in Miami.
