Great coffee and great service. Love the atmosphere that this place has. Cool, local coffe spot.

Where has this place been all of my time here? lol. I made it here yesterday and it was just lovely! Cute area, good treats and sweet people. I read about the honey vanilla latte on Unilocal,so I had to get it. It did not disappoint(I had it with almond milk). I also had the blueberry filled king cake… oh em gee! I am normally not a «filling» type of person, but this was ridiculously fresh and perfectly sweet. Will definitely make this a place to frequent! The barista even remembered my name when I was leaving the establishment.(I sat in and ate, so about 45 minutes had passed since he made my drink). Kudos!

Wonderful food. Wonderful establishment — atmosphere and staff. Recently my family and I went on a Saturday late morning, we felt we were in a place equal to any big city«neighborhood eatery» — great vibe.

Love this little gem. The food is fresh, healthy, and flavorful. It’s a breath of fresh air for southern Louisiana where most of the food is fried and not so great for the waste line.

Magpie Café has, in my opinion, the best coffee in town! I usually have a cappuccino and it is simply delicious! The quality of the beans and the presentation of the coffee are excellent. I also enjoy their baked goods(cookies and muffins) and their lunch. I wish I could go there more often but there isn’t much parking available, which deters me from going there. I would love it if they moved somewhere else or perhaps opened a second location with more parking(perhaps in the commercial part of the new Rouzan subdivision?).

I came here in between classes because I had been sick earlier that morning & wanted something healthy & to fill me up. I like how they update their menu everyday. I got the blueberry oatmeal bread. It wasn’t something I would get again. It was also confusing to me where the line started because the coffee line is right next to the check out line. Parking is also hard in this area. I would come back and try the actual lunch entrees, when I do I’ll update my review. I do love the fact that it’s healthy

This place is for true coffee lovers. In my opinion they have the best coffee in Baton Rouge; pour-over, lattes, cortados(my favorite) and more. Wonderful atmosphere for a few moments to yourself or to sit and have coffee and always fresh, always delicious baked goods, salads, or sandwiches with friends. Fresh, healthy food; delicious coffee; wonderful atmosphere.

Super awesome place. Came here a couple of times. It’s a little hipster(in a good way!) with a great vibe. The little green garden outside is beautiful and there’s even a little long hair calico cat that keeps you company. They have interesting pastries and some great drinks. With that said, I would love to see some more food options. Thank you for a great experience.

This is now my go to breakfast spot when I am in Baton Rouge. The atmosphere and staff are bright, cheery and inviting. The food is heavenly, I highly recommend the quiche.

This place is a great addition to the neighborhood. I don’t drink coffee, but I love the food. I especially love the fact that they have lots of vegan and gluten free items. I normally always get the prepared salad in the bowls. They’re pretty delicious. I had a ham and Brie sandwich there the other day which was to die for. Put Brie on anything and I’ll love it! I would like to try their juices that they have to offer. I tried the beet and carrot one the other day I believe. It was pretty good(a little pulpy). My sister wanted to go for breakfast and I’ve been wanting to try their eggs Benedict they do every Saturday. It was good. It was a black bean, artichoke, arugula, and hollandaise one. The combo sounds weird but it worked. The Gouda grits were on point though! It’s kind of hipster. They have art work for sale on the walls and nice little patio outside.

Magpie has the best, strongest and most delicious coffee in town. I love the people that work their, I love the local art and most of all I love the vibe. If you’re from out of town, this is the go to spot for coffee and lunch. They have amazing salad and sandwiches for lunch as well.

I have been here several times now, and is seems to be a convenient stop for me whenever I come to Baton Rouge. Parking can be an issue. The server are friendly, and super helpful. I came today just before lunch officially started, and the guy gladly sold me a small white bean salad with an iced green tea. Every time I have been here, they are always so just happy to be working there. Magpie seems to be a very wholesome, healthy food choice option in an area not known for healthy food choices. I look forward to coming back, when in the area.

Love this nice little spot in the heart of Baton Rouge. Even though there is usually a wait for a table to sit and enjoy your meal and coffee it’s defiantly worth it. There coffee is always robust and correct temperature wise, but what makes this place is every changing menu that offeres healthy options for a wide variety of diets. A go to spot for a easy lunch or a much needed cup of coffee.

Oh my goodness! I love Magpie, and wish it was in Phx! :) They have absolutely the BEST coffee and pastries I’ve ever had! Now I know I’ve probably said that in reviews for other coffee houses, but this time I’m really serious. Magpie uses all organic ingredients from local farms, and all their pastries are made in-house — and believe me, you can taste how fresh everything is! The only thing that kind of stinks when going to Magpie is that, because everything is made so fresh, once they run out of an item, they’re out, so be sure to have a backup plan of what you want to order incase the person in front of you orders what you were going to get(and it’s the last piece… which is exactly what happened to me when I wanted the last slice of the deliciously-looking piece of blueberry tart… GRRR!) I ended up ordering an iced honey latte(so yum!), my cousin got the same, and then we ordered blueberry homemade pop tarts(OMG, you HAVE to get one, or two, or three… We did! Lol. You won’t be sorry), and I also got the last Blueberry Brioche Roll(be jealous! And yes, I’m obsessed with blueberries!) My aunt ordered the Potato and Leek Soup and absolutely loved it – it was so rich and creamy, not starchy and floury like cream-based soups are at other places. The location itself is so cute and homey-feeling; it’s quite welcoming and feels like you’re at grandma’s house. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful as well, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. We sat and chatted for a bit while enjoying our coffee, pastries, and soup, and then before we left, we stood in the long line again(totally worth it!!!) to order another honey latte and some chocolate chip cookies — we couldn’t resist! Wish we could’ve gone back again, but it was such a short trip to Baton Rouge, we didn’t have time. Until next time though…

I had a sweet tooth at 3pm saturday and Magpie café came up under Unilocal for desserts/pastries. Parking in this area can be a bit of a challenge, but we lucked out and found one right by the door. The place is nice and quaint. It’s very clean with great customer service. It was busy, even at 3pm on a very hot louisiana saturday. We ordered a slice of the tres leches cake and it was divine, nice and moist without an overbearing milky flavor. We sat outside which was cozy, and definitely not a bad choice since they have a big fan running to keep you cool.

The cake is very flavorful, and you can tell that it isn’t mass-produced. You can even see the vanilla bean seeds in the batter! The buttercream is surprisingly light. I enjoyed the temperature at which the cake was served. It was cool, which was perfect for this warm, beautiful day. I enjoyed my cake on the porch, observing the vine-covered fence and watching the cars go by. I’d definitely recommend that all cake-lovers try this place! You won’t be dissatisfied.

I’ve been here many times but always seem to opt for scones or muffins and a perfect cuppa java for breakfast. This morning I decided to go for the Spinach and Ricotta Quiche and all I can say is, «It is the most perfect Quiche in Baton Rouge». They serve a very generous portion and the crust is so light and flaky it made my taste-buds do a happy dance. Pretty much everything I’ve ordered from the Magpie Café causes this reaction but this crust scored a 10 on the taste-bud dance scale. Every dish I’ve tried at the Magpie so far was a mouth-watering delight for my senses. To top it off the laid back style of the staff and welcoming atmosphere makes me wanna move in. Just sayin… great food, comfy chairs and free Wi Fi. Tip: Try to catch them on a Saturday they have the Crawfish Eggs Benedict on the menu. If you order it be prepared for your taste-buds to Zydeco around your mouth. Call on Friday after lunch to see if the tasty Louisiana favorite will be starring on Saturday’s menu. Saturdays are popular and parking can be a challenge so plan to get there by noonish or you might miss out.

I have heard so much about Magpie! I stopped by once on a Sunday but they were closed. My boyfriend and I decided to venture here for a lunch date! Magpie is a quaint restaurant known for its local and fresh ingredients. The ambience of this place was like no other that I have experienced in Baton Rouge. They have a daily menu which can be exciting if you visit often. Magpie has that coffeehouse feel in that people are lounging about, getting work done. I felt out of place having food there because it lacks an intimate or private atmosphere. Two hipsters were in one corner typing away on a laptop. A few others were reading and writing and another asked us to plug in his laptop as he plopped down. If you want to experience a private, lunch date conversation, I would suggest eating outside. The limited options at Magpie make ordering very easy. They do, however, have several options to choose from in the beverage and pastry department. I chose the veggie panini and it was delicious! It came loaded with goat cheese which was a nice surprise. You order your food and sit down and they will bring it to you, unless you’ve placed a to-go order.(I say this because I stood around until someone directed me.) The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is good. If you’re looking for that indie coffeehouse vibe and clean eats then Magpie is a must.

Cool little place, very busy to be off the beaten path. Not being from the area I wasn’t to sure what university it’s near but there was tons of student traffic and a consistent line at the counter. They serve local, organic sandwiches, salads. Juices, coffee, tea and cookies just to name a few. They offer different daily breakfast and lunch specials that appear to consist of a soup, salad and sandwich. all of which are made with fresh, local ingredients. Magpie offers both indoor and outdoor seating as well as free wifi. Their pumpkin latte was the best i’ve had. puts Starbucks and dunkin donuts to shame. The white bean salad and chicken pannini were tasty as well. Must try the hibiscus iced tea(cold).yummy. All I can say is those ladies were working hard but still had smiles on their faces. I love that. Stop in, say hello and gra

Love, love, love this café and cannot wait to return. I grew up in the surrounding area and am first of all super impressed with how this area of Baton Rouge has blossomed into a unique restaurant lover strip. First of all the appearance was very casual and cozy. Outdoor seating and plenty indoor with a coffee trip feel. Definitely appropriate with the close proximity to LSU. I would have adored this place in college before I moved to the other side of town. Service was friendly, and food made right in front of you, which is always exciting. I ordered the paleo special, which I had no idea what they event meant. They asked me if I ever tried it, then explained it very well. I decided to be adventurous and get it a whirl. So glad I did! The paleo special of the day was an open faced sandwich with turkey, fig jam, pear, and arugula on a homemade paleo bread. I’m actually posting weeks after I ordered it, and my mouth is still salivating. I must go back there soon, and if they don’t have that special, no worries because the menu had lots of delicious options. Definite 5 star review, and I can’t wait to return with a friend :-)
