DISGUSTED is not a strong enough word to describe just how horrible my «almost» dining experience was at this off the beaten path restaurant. I arrived 5 minutes behind several coworkers for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. I had heard nothing but good things about this sandwich café and I was very excited to try the food. I ordered a warm muffaletta and a cup of tomato bisque. I arrived 12:10 and had to wait about 15 minutes to order food. My coworkers finished their meals and left BEFORE I asked the staff where was my order. They said 5 minutes but after looking around the restaurant and seeing everyone else with their food, including people in the line directly behind me, I asked for an explanation. The cashier and cooks did not provide an explanation but instead said they were busy, which they were. I told them it was half an hour since I ordered and their response was no it wasn’t. When I showed them my time stamped receipt they barely budged from their opinion that they simply didn’t care about me as a customer. They gave me a throwaway sorry with no actual care for the fact I could not eat my meal there. Their body language screamed at me that they have enough customers and could care less for the 20 bucks(and a few dollars for a tip — ugh) I just dropped in their restaurant. On top of that they have a sign boasting about being the best sandwich shop in America(or something very similar) and having the best service. So that’s the service review. Now to the food. The tomato bisque had a nice flavor but was too chunky. It was not a soup but felt more like creamy, mashed potatoes. The warm muffaletta was just average and there was nothing exciting about it at all. I’m sure some of y’all may have a varying experience. But I’m sure some of y’all will experience exactly what I felt. Instead of trying to find a diamond at Yvette Marie’s, support a business that actually cares that you have a good dining experience. There are much better options in the local area to try.

I was checking around for an inexpensive place, but with consistently great reviews — which is not always easy to find! After looking around a bit on Unilocal!— this place popped up. As soon as I started reading some of the reviews, I realized that I had been here once before — a number of years ago — for a rehearsal dinner, I believe, but have not been back since. So… Perhaps the most common«mention» in the reviews was the Chicken Salad Club sandwich — in various forms — but with a common, core ingredient. So, naturally, I had to try THAT. Wow. It was delicious. Chicken Salad with, I’m sure, some special spices and ingredients, but one of the most noticeable was bits of apple mixed in, and some dried cranberry as well. Very, very nice flavor and the apple added a little«crunch” — bonus! It came dressed with fresh lettuce, avocado, bacon, and tomatoes, on an enormous croissant. Very generous in portion size. Almost made me regret my side — from that stand point. But then I tasted it — Pork Belly, Crab and Crawfish Mac N Cheese. Boom. Also excellent, great compliment to the sandwich. Various flavored teas were also on offer, including Mango — which I thoroughly enjoyed… The special of the day was a Turkey Pot Pie with rice, broccoli, and biscuit — and sold out right before I got to the counter! Apparently that is the pattern here. Specials are always sold out early. As I looked through the rest of the menu there were a number of other items that caught my eye and will merit several trips back. But perhaps one of the BEST things about the place, in addition to the food, is that it is situated inside an antique/consignment store with tons and tons of fantastic items from local artists and collectors and jewelers and just people taking old things and re-purposing them. It’s the sort of place that interior decorators dream of and I have no doubt is much frequented by them. So very visually interesting, along with everything else. The only comment I would make is — it’s listed as a $ sort of place but, really, it’s more of a $$ sort of place, in my opinion… but that’s a small detail. Great spot. Definitely coming back…

Very delicious! Generous portions, fast service, nice little lunch spot. Easily accessible from downtown or LSU area without much traffic. I had the half Turkey and Apple sandwich and a half Caesar salad. The sandwich was huge for a half and was delicious. Everyone who I ate with was happy with their food. Tried a bit of the veggie mufalatta, it was also superb!

I didn’t know this place existed and then my co worker Tiffany brought me here! It was so delicious! I kept saying, «mmmm…mmmmm…mmmmmm!» There were no other words. I went on a Wednesday and got the special Gator Dawg honey mustard and Caramelized onions with salad and potatoes. Mmmmmmmm! It also has an antique store and artsy place to walk around while you wait for your food.

This little café was a bit hard to find, but it was truly worth the extra effort. Just so you know, it’s located inside the antique store. I had the chicken salad croissant and it was wonderful. My wife had the barbecue pulled pork and she loved it. Highly recommend this place.

It is a fantastic place to sit and have lunch with friends. The BLT was crunchy and great. The Cesear salad was tasty. Sweet tea was fab! And to top it off, the Berry cake was delish. ½ sandwich and salad were a perfect combo. Nice conversation place with lots of antiques.

Up Front: Good sandwiches with acceptable prices($ 7 – 12 avg and up). Allow some time to wait as it’s a small operation. Will go back again! Pros: –Turkey and apple pressed croissant with Brie and cranberry. Excellent choice! Buttery croissant, flavorful(not salty) meat and fresh apple slices with explosions of Cranberry swimming in gooey brie! –Shares a building with an really neat antique store –Dine-in courtyard is breezy and a nice ambiance Cons: –A bit hard to find, but worth looking for it! –They were a bit slow on service(20 minutes) but we ordered at the same time a few other folks did.

I always get the pulled pork sandwich, which is absolutely delicious, but today I went with the jalapeño chicken sandwich. Though it lacked heat, it was still a great sandwich. The chicken was juicy and the bell pepper gave it some sweetness and a nice crunch. I’ll have a hard time getting away from that pulled pork sanwich.

This was my first time here and wasn’t sure what to expect. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and it was grreat. The meat was juice and there was plenty of it on the sandwich. The bread was nicely toasted and crips, it just fit perfectly with the roast beef and cheese. I’d order this again. My lunch partner got the spicy chicken sandwich, there wasn’t that much heat to detect but as a whole the sandwich was good. We both agreed that the roast beef was the winner of the two. The ambiance is different than your average place, it has a nice artsy feel to it. There is ample parking and the service was nice. There is also a Unilocal deal for a free soda, yay Unilocal

Per usual, food is tasty and the freshest on government street for lunch. The potato salad is unique and delicious and the menu has a variety of sandwhich, salad, soup, and dessert choices. If the service could be sped up, that would be a plus!

Hidden gem. Had their chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and a lemon berry meringue cake. All were very delicious. The chicken salad had bits of apples in it. This place is tucked away in the mid city/garden district area. I will def return!

Chicken salad sandwich lived up to its name. Fresh and tasty with the crispy Granny Smith apples in it. Tomato Basil soup was divine and stayed piping hot for a good while! Sitting out on the patio on a beautiful day was great. It was very peaceful although a little music in the background or the fountain running would be a nice touch as well.

I went to Yvette Marie’s for the first time yesterday with two friends. We had all heard that it was good but had never been ourselves. I’m glad we went. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It’s small with a nice size menu. You order your food at the counter and then they bring it to you. The daily lunch special was chicken fried steak with green beans and I was very tempted but opted for soup and sandwich instead. I had the soup of the day which was creamy zucchini and half of a ham and cheese sandwich. Both were very good and just the perfect amount of both. My friends liked their meals too. I’d go back and recommend it.

This is a great lunch spot with an enormous amount of character. The menu is fairly simple but everything is worth a try. A few of my favs are the chicken salad(cranberries & apples), jalepeno chicken sandwich and the chicken caprese. They usually offer a decent special too and if you’re on the email list, you’ll get notice of the week’s specials on Monday. OH… I can’t believe I almost forgot about the cake! You NEED to try the lemon berry mascarpone cake… it’s so good and big enough to share. The last, but not least, point is that you can shop while you wait or after you’ve eaten.

I love this place. It’s a little café tucked inside a store where you can find just about anything. You don’t have waitresses. You order up front. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. If you sit indoors, there’s a guy in there who will play the fiddle etx while you munch. They have a limited wine and beer selection. The food is great. My favorite is the chicken caprese sandwich. It’s amazing. The tomato bisque is great as well. I had the Greek salad today and it was yummy. It comes with a white balsamic dressing instead of a mint vinaigrette. They get cakes from Bonano’s and Nanette Mayhall which are to die for. I’ve raved about the red velvet from Digulios… same lady. I tried the lemon berry mascarpone today and it was great too! I think I might be developing a sweet tooth! The prices are reasonable too. The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish they would wipe the windowsills in the booths. They look like they’ve been collecting dust for centuries! Other than that, check it out. It’s in a cool spot with lots of other stores. It’ll be worth your while.

A good sandwich stays in your mind well after finishing it, but a great sandwich is the one you think of whilst eating that aforementioned good sandwich. And oh man can Yvette Marie make a great sandwich! Finding Yvette Marie’s is an event in itself — the eclectic little sandwich shop is well nestled in an antique market, surrounded by art, vintage finds, classic cars and even junk. But go on and wade through the carefully curated chaos… you may find a new old record, that prized retro trinket you didn’t know you wanted ’til you saw it, or in my case, a kind woman waving you over to the sandwich shop. And what a charming little shop it is! It’s filled to its brim with mismatched furniture, hand-scrawled signage in the happiest of color schemes and the warmest staff. I ordered the Chicken Salad Club following an unsolicited thumbs up from a waiting patron and made my way out to the sunny courtyard. Within ten minutes, my sandwich was delivered to me and the lovefest began. Because I don’t care for savory fixin’s on croissants, I chose to sub the more sturdy wheatberry bread instead. This was a smart choice, as the fillings threatened to jump ship with every scrumptious bite I took! Unlike most chicken salads, this one was made with roasted-then-pulled large chunks of white meat chicken and then topped with avocado, bacon and spring mix. This sandwich definitely deserves a lifetime achievement award: top $ 5 chicken salad sandwiches of all time, easily. After bathing in sunlight and filling my stomach before my impending flight back to Austin, I walked out of Yvette Marie’s with a smile on my face and a new fascination with a little sandwich shop in Baton Rouge. A classic meet-cute? I’ll always remember when.

The closest I’ve been to experiencing love at first sight. The name(or my name rather) and good ratings drew me in during my day trip to Baton Rouge. Only open for lunch… til 2:30pm I believe. Located in Circa 1857 antique and art market, Yvette Marie’s is a little gem located in the midst of unique and cool stores. Really loved the atmosphere. I ate outside by the fountain, facing piles of old furniture, cool paintings and other goods. It’s also connected to an antique store inside for customers to explore afterwards. I ordered the half sandwich, half salad combo with the Sensation Salad and Chicken Caprese. Both amazing! Salad had a special dressing that was so good with bleu cheese and candied walnuts. Sandwich was also very tasty… GREAT bread = GR-EAD! And it’s mozzarella cheese would make other cheeses jealous.

This place is so cool. Loved the junky backyard feel to it, the colorful hand painted signs, the funny seats. everything! Came in about 12:15 pm for a take out lunch(thank god, I had ordered on the phone, the line was snak-ey long!) they had my order ready, they got it right, I got a free drink with my Unilocal check in(yayyyy Unilocal). I was pretty much in and out within 5 minutes! Now for my food. The Soup was so damned good! I have realized that people in the south really know how to do some real good tomato soup! :) The Ceaser salad was really good too, with the dressing on the side, fresh lettuce and just a dash of Parmesan. The dressing was super yummy and creamy, I had just a little bit though and I did not feel like a glutton at the end of it. lol! I also had a portion of the grilled veggies mufaletta. Now I am a Mufaletta virgin! I have never had it before. It was good. that is all I will say. the insides were super yummy, the mozzarella, artichoke hearts, eggplant and the basil pesto married together to create the perfect filling, but there is something about the bread that I am not a fan of. yes, yes — I know people will say, ‘But that’s the best part about the Mufaletta!’ I don’t know. I was not a fan :(It has a weird-ish aftertaste to it that I did not appreciate. I was not able to finish even my quarter piece! I will definitely be back to try other stuff here. maybe not mufaletta style though :)
