Always good food, but it can get pretty packed at times. I recently had the Chicken &Andouille pasta which was great, but the bread was somewhat greasy so it upset my stomach a little. The carrot soufflé is amazing.

Took my family here for lunch on a weekday. The staff was really friendly. The food was really good. The décor isn’t very modern but that is about the only criticism I can even give. It looks a little worn but it’s inviting. You order at the counter and the drinks are self serve but a server brings your food out. I had a lunch special: stuffed tilapia. It was perfectly cooked, tender and flaky. The gravy on it was so good I wanted to like the plate. I chose the sides of fried okra and spinach Madeleine. I could skip the fried okra but the spinach was really tasty. My husband had a bowl of gumbo. It was delicious. And the bread stick that came with it was perfectly soft and tasty. My kids both had a special: Metten burger. It was delicious. My husband said he was almost jealous he hadn’t ordered the burger but his gumbo was so good he couldn’t be jealous. If back in town, I would definitely stop back in.

I called in an order right before close and took it back to my hotel. I always try to find good value when traveling and today I was not dissapointed. I had the blackened fish with crawfish étouffée, The Melancon. With it came the garlic mashed potatoes and the green beans. All were fantastic. I don’t normally eat Cajun style seafood, but I know it can be done very poorly. Harrington’s Café definitely does it very well. I highly recommend it for great food at a great value.

1st time eating here. I had the combo. ½ club with fries and a small house salad. The club was ok. My fries were very cold. I was expecting more from the reviews I read. I will eat there again, but try an entrée next time. Parking lot across the street and its $ 6.00 to park there. I suggest parking down the street and walking a few blocks.

I wanted to eat something with a local taste for lunch, so I found Harrington’s Café. As I approached this from my downtown hotel, they had a sign with a special; Catfish and Red Beans and Rice. I opted for this. It’s an old building, and it has that old southern café charm. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. It was pretty simple food, and it was decent. I was also served quickly. By the time I retrieved my silverware and napkin, my food was at my table. I’d say I spent no more than 15 minutes here.

I work downtown. If I go out to eat lunch, usually I’ll binge on places like Mathern’s deli, Faye’s, Rolly Polly, and Jimmy John’s. If I ever want to splurge or eat food that tastes meaningful, I’ll definitely go here. It’s a reasonable cost with absolutely delicious food. If you can go in and eat less than a single breadstick, you’re a great man. If you’re in the BR area, and looking for Cajun. Pick here. You won’t be disappointed.

I had take out from here today and it was delicious! Cheeseburger hit the spot with the slight sweetness of the toasted bun and the crispness of the fries! This might just be my new burger place go to! However, the grilled fish is very tasty as well.

Amazing cheeseburger and I could eat my weight in Carrot Soufflé! The etoufee was awesome! The service was lightening fast(especially for food this fresh!) and with a heaping helping of friendly Southern hospitality. Yum!

In town for a conference and find this little gem of a restaurant on Unilocal. So very glad I did! Incredible food, very sweet staff with super prompt service. One of the specials was the stuffed shrimp with creamy crab sauce and it was divine. Plenty of Unilocalers mentioned the carrot soufflé so that was a must-get and it was awesome. I’ve never had carrot soufflé before so I wasn’t expecting it to be sweet — the flavor reminded me bread pudding for some reason — but it went perfectly with the spiciness of the crab sauce. If the owners of Harrington’s happen to see this review, I am DYING for that sauce recipe and promise to take it to my grave with me! ;) The food was very quick but it was very fresh. Perfect spot to get a quality meal at a great price, even when you’re in a hurry.

Everything I have ever gotten here has been very good. Standouts include the crab cakes, the jambalaya, and the green beans. Seriously, what do they do with their green beans? Whatever they do, they should never tell anyone about because if I knew how to make those green beans I would have less reason to go to Harrington’s. The prices are good and the service is fine. The food is always good. How can you not have a single ho-hum dish on the menu? I don’t know but they’ve accomplished that.

The food was great, but the atmosphere and service were lacking. When I ordered, the woman who took my order was pretty rude. The restaurant is kind of gross looking inside. Very run down. My food was great, though.

This is a quirky family style joint with a bit of a diner feel that does lunch Monday-Friday featuring Louisiana seafood options. Everything here has a home cooking feel to it and they feature local artwork on the walls. You order at the counter and then they have servers that bring your food to you while drinks are self serve. The menu is pretty substantial so it can be a bit of a challenge for a newbie to see what you want and then order it as things go at a pretty fast clip in here during the busy lunch rush. I ordered the cheeseburger, fries and gumbo but sadly I didn’t notice until after that they had sides of veggies available. The burger looked great but came on a bun that didn’t work for me, as I found it far too sweet for my taste, and it really took away from my burger experience(I’ve been very spoiled by the great burgers we have in NOLA and I’ve just not been a fan of very many Baton Rouge burgers). The seafood gumbo was alright and the fries were decent. I would like to return again to sample some of the many other seafood options available here. Overall I find this a really quick and easy weekday lunch option that possesses a bit of distinctive character for those occasions I find myself trapped in Downtown Baton Rouge.

Everything I’ve had from there is delicious. They have daily specials that are very reasonable. One of my favorite things is the crawfish pot pie! They also have the option of to go cups when you go to fill your drink, which I like

Great place to grab really good food quick down town. Everything there tastes delicious and the prices are reasonable. I usually have lunch here with my friends from court. The staff is ok. But the food makes up for it.

We had an incredible experience here! Well we didn’t even get inside because it was already closed. Here is what happened: we ran into the owner outside and he gave us recommendations for other places to eat. So we found another spot. Lo and behold he shows up with a bag full of delicious food for us to try. It was blackened fish, crawfish ettouffee, and shrimp/crab gumbo. It was SOOO delicious that the food I ordered at the«other spot» was ignored :) 5 stars for being so friendly and delicious food to boot! This experience completely made our day.

A true gem! Harrington’s is a special restaurant you can find in downtown Baton Rouge. Upon my first visit to Louisiana, my new co-workers treated me to this restaurant and I never looked back. For Cajun style favorites around lunchtime… you won’t find better! In fact I eat here so often that my co-workers like to tease me about it. I recommend any of the main lunch dishes such as the Melancon(grilled catfish topped with crawfish etoufee). I have most of these dishes, and all are excellent. Another plus is that the side items are superb… the green beans, mashed potatoes and fried okra are all delicious choices. All of this goodness comes for quite a bargain as most meals are under $ 10. For the price… you will not find better. The owner is a very kind man from the Lafayette area who will readily check up on you when he is there. The friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere only add to the excellent meal. Do NOT miss out on trying this restaurant if your in the area. You won’t regret it!

Delightful place! The Melancon was the best ever! I have never had craw fish étouffée before, and this was totally worth it! The trout below the gravy was grilled to perfection and the gravy itself was yummy! My only gripe with the dish — its screamed for some citrus to it. Just a piece of grilled lemon on the side would have been heavenly. Service is quick and friendly, very southern and homely. Teh bread stick was basically an Italian loaf of bread. deep fried! Yes, you heard me — deep fried! lol. it was so yum!!! I used it to soak up my étouffée :) :) — Match made in heaven! The place attracts mostly locals from the area, and keeps super busy through lunch! Order at one station, pay at another and then wait for the food to come out to you — it wasn’t a bad wait at all! My co-worker had the fish and shrimp– it was super yummy too! The batter was the right consistency — so super crisp and tasty! Oh. the Carrot soufflé — I got it for lack of any other good side choices(that I liked), and boy was it good! Tasted like warmed up cake batter mixed with bread pudding… yum yum yum! I am sure if was far from Healthy, but it was amazingly tasty! Obviously, this sadly means I will need only a dressing less salad for dinner. I more than had my share of calories for the day! — but absolutely worth it!
