Our server Zack was very helpful and made sure we were always doing fine. The food and wine he recommended was great. Will definitely be going back.

Consistently marginal food my last four visits in 6 months The latest visit involved tepid steaks with no sear, lobster overcooked, no drawn butter till requested, and side dishes finally appearing halfway through dinner only after I finally demanded them from the waiter and manager. Despite all apologies a dinner of substantial expense had been disrupted at that point. Never again. I’ll stick to Flemings or Sullivans or Ruths Chris or even Longhorn and Outback for that matter

4.5 stars. Okay, so keep in mind your meal prices encompasses location, ambience and higher chef salaries. The food: I was very impressed with the presentation and the taste(which is most important). Well balance and well-cooked to perfection. My asparagus were still crispy from the grill which was awesome. As of today, this is in my top 5 best restaurants in Baton Rouge. With my rating I took a few things in consideration. I encounter loud and obnoxious people who seem to have had too much to drink. This is a classy/upscale restaurant and management should never allow parties to act like this is a traditional bar down the street. Is the prices justified? You will be the judge after your visit. Location is cool but you having to find somewhere to park can be a pain. Service: Wow! My waiter was super slow. It seems as if he was preoccupied by something else or maybe the loud party. I know sometimes things going to happen like loud parties and terrible service but when I’m paying those types of prices, I don’t want a slacker as my waiter and I definitely do want to hear drug women. Will I be back? Of course… and soon to give my final thoughts.

This restaurant is very upscale and classy, yet one could stop in on there lunch break from work. There’s an amazing lunch special mon-Friday at a terrific price. The location is conveniently placed downtown and the service is fast and friendly.

We really enjoyed our 17 year anniversary here at Stroubes. The drinks were delicious. The crawfish benets were decadent. The soup was superb. The duck tasted excellent. We will definitely return in the near future.

My husband and I were staying at a hotel downtown and didn’t want to go eat at the restaurant so we placed a to-go– order. I called about 20 minutes before we walked over and the phone conversation went well enough. The missing star is because the person did not tell me how long it would take or the total cost. As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a very friendly hostess. She steered is towards the bar to get our order. No problems at all. The food was fantastic. Husband got the 16 oz ribeye, crawfish Mac and cheese. I got the shrimp and grits. We also got an order of the duck and andioulle egg rolls. We would totally go back and eat here again!

Recently went for a cutesy romantic dinner to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The food was amazing. I loved everything from the bread down to the duck and grits. Top 3 restaurants I’ve been to since I moved here. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because, I didn’t expect a loud crowd to be sitting right next to us. I couldn’t even hear what my girlfriend was saying because, every five minutes one of them was standing up to make a speech and then the rest of the table, about 20 ppl would clap and cheer. I was unaware that this was that type of setting. It was clearly work related but, still have some respect for ppl around you.

My wife and I dined over Valentine’s day weekend. The atmosphere was very intimate and the service was attentive. I ordered the New York strip and my wife had the special which was an 8oz filet over a lobster cake with a cheese sauce. Both steaks were cooked medium as requested. Our dinners were both great and the bread was really good as well. A little pricey but was expected. We will definitely be back when we return to the area.

Kudos to Chef Ross and his team! I wish I could give more than 5 starts to the talented staff and absolutely AMAZING food and service! I am kicking myself for not taking a picture if my last meal which were the crawfish beignets with the fried redfish over crawfish risotto and asparagus and house made hollandaise. Talk about Louisiana on a plate! The get I brought with me fishes often and watched redfish on a regular basis, so I wanted to bring him to a place where I knew he would have the best redfish he would ever have… and they knocked it out of the park! He said it was the best redfish he has tasted(apart from his lol)… the batter wasn’t too thick, and it didn’t overtake the fish itself. I paired my meal with a Canebrake and he ordered a rye whiskey hot toddy since it was a bit chilly outside. I have also been to Strobe’s for their wine dinners, and it’s very much worth the price and dive downtown to experience some of the best food on my Top 10!

One of the best places I’ve ever eaten at is Stroubes located in downtown Baton Rouge. I had dinner here with friends one night and it was memorable. The filet mignon is magnificent. The service is exquisite and the drinks are amaxing. You have got to check this restaurant out. By the way sometimes they have great specials just ask the staff.

This place is terrible. Rude and arrogant employees. My advice is avoid. We were treated poorly despite making and confirming reservations. Service was so bad we left. There are too many better options downtown including the Little Village just down the street.

So far I’ve dined at Stroubes 3 times, thanks to my sweet honey. Once for dinner, once on a walking dinner tour of downtown BR(which everyone should try), and then Thursday night for taste of the house. Superb. Taste of the house was such a wonderful dining experience. First off, the atmosphere is most perfect. Open windows, candle lit tables– just beautiful. The wait staff was so attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. The course size was more than enough for me and my boyfriend as we decided to skip the fish course and move to dessert(because who can forgo dessert?!). We we so full but well prepared for sweets. :) The chef came around twice to introduce himself and check on us. Terrific experience. I look forward to many more romantic date nights here!

Very good. 6 oz. filet mignon was a wonderful piece of meat, cooked a perfect medium and spiced with the perfect amount of salt and pepper for my taste. White wine and garlic spinach was delicious with big chunks of garlic and a not too overpowering wine sauce. Server Toafa was efficient, professional and personable.

I was recently dined at Stroubes and it was the first time I’d been there in a couple years. When we got there for dinner on Friday night, the community event Live After Five was in high gear across the street. The restaurant was busy but since we had a reservation we were seated right away. The hostess offered two options. One was a table overlooking the street(with a view of the activity outside) and the other was a high-backed booth on the far side of the dining room. We opted for the latter for a cozier feel and more privacy. Our server arrived a couple minutes later and she was good about answering our questions about the menu before we ordered. This time I got a soup and entrée. Bread Basket — It’s worth mentioning that they offer more than the standard white bread loaf. It’s garlic bread generously sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. It was tasty but much too salty. Normally I enjoy working my way through the bread basket but I could only eat one piece.
Corn, Crab and Brie Bisque –This cream-based soup had a sweetness from the crab and corn and funkiness from the brie. The first time I tried it I thought it was amazing. This time it was waaay too salty and I couldn’t eat more than two or three bites. The portion was also really small. For the price($ 8) I expected the cup to be more than half full. Yellowfin Tuna — The grilled tuna was pretty good but I didn’t care for the orange sauce drizzled on top at all. Not sure why they didn’t drizzle it onto the plate. That way if I didn’t like it I could have eaten around it. Anyway, the side dishes were good: the crawfish risotto was flavorful and the haricots vert were bright green and crisp. The ambiance was nice and overall the food was ok but the saltiness made me wonder if anyone tasted the dishes before they left the kitchen. I was disappointed that this experience wasn’t as good as it had been the first time… so 3.5 stars. Stroubes won’t be my first pick next time I’m in town but I will probably be back at some point.

The food was amazing. I had a little of everything. The cauliflower mash were the silkiest ones I have ever had. The grits were amazing, and the gnocchi were full of flavor. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic garlic bread and Strip on mashed potatoes. Sarah in the bar is amazing, excellent service and she had great recommendations. Had the Moscow Mule under specialty drinks, made perfect!

Went in 20 minutes before they closed and felt pretty bad about it. However, the staff welcomed us in regardless and encouraged us to still take our time eating. We chose the lamb lollipops for an appetizer. I had them cook it medium and it was beyond tender. I had the Louisiana Fresh Catch(Red Fish) blackened over a bed of asparagus and crawfish risotto with jumbo lump crabmeat sherry cream. The combination and presentation was amazing. Couldn’t stop chewing from start to finish. The environment was warm and the staff was professional and knowledgable. This was my second time there but I’ll be sure to increase my check-ins in the near future.

«Downtown Baton Rouge restaurant perfect for lunch and dinner.» I came here for a date lunch with my husband; it was my second time and my huband’s first to dine there. This is the perfect place for either a casual business lunch or an intimate lunch with your special someone. The booth seating is great here! From another review, I read that these create a sense of privacy and they were right! Don’t want a large, overwhelming menu? Stroubes is perfect; their menu is simple and does not go on for days. My husband and I always like to share meals, so we had no choice but to order two different dishes. But first, the buttery garlic parmesan bread with a Stroubes salad — mixed greens with spiced candied pecans and blue cheese. My husband ordered the sirloin, which is not always something him or I like to order. We have a fear of it coming out tough. Here though, it was cooked perfectly, even as a well-done steak. The steak held its juiciness, as should all high-quality meats. Another superb dish ordered were the seafood cakes — crawfish, shrimp and crab with bits of corn. The flavors of the seafood cakes were robust and maintained the light, crispy texture even with the hollandaise poured over it. I don’t get to have too many sit-down, intimate meals with my husband because we are always running in two different directions. Given that I am a foodie, I always enjoy dishes with personality and wake up my senses. Stroubes is classy and I will be a frequent visitor!

Had lunch here for the first time last week and fell in love with the place. We ordered the Pepper Calamari to start, both of us found it perfectly tender and loved the light tasty batter. I decided to try the Barbeque Shrimp Poboy and requested mash potatoes instead of fries. The sandwich had a generous portion of very tasty shrimp and the mashed potatoes were great. My friend had the Friday lunch special of seafood cakes topped with hollandaise and shared part of the house salad that comes with it. The salad had nice size chunks of blue cheese and these amazing crunchy pecan bits that I think make the dish. We were both so full we skipped dessert and opted for coffee. Both the coffee and the ice tea I had with my meal tasted fresh and never went empty. Service was attentive and friendly, restrooms are very clean and if you sit by the floor to ceiling windows you can«people watch» as you enjoy your meal. I had an excellent first time experience and I plan to return soon.
