Love this place!!! My favorite spot downtown with live jazz music and a good time. Monday nights are the best. Drinks are kinda pricy though

the roux house is growing on me a little bit. i hate 3rd street in downtown baton rouge, its a pathetic bar scene, but roux house has been sucking me in and I’m actually digging the joint mainly because they have live music & a pretty decent selection of alcoholic beverages. 1 tv, thats okay. i suppose its my fav bar downtown BR, scary thought really but ill give it credit

Looking for a place that frequently have live music, good drinks and a semi-laid back yet lively crowd of people? Look no further… Roux House is quite the place. There is usually a $ 5 cover charge, and usually it is a good band. Music range here; anything from 80’s cover band to great jazz music. My fav part of the place? The enclosed patio. It is usually filled with people who are there to have a good time. It is usually a mix crowd of different profession background and range of ages. The outside patio also features a stage for music and an outside bar if it gets to crowded inside. And because it is literally outside of the Shaw Center, it is a great place to just chill after having a fancy dinner at Tsunami or Stroubes. Or if you’re more of a chill kind of person, it is just a few steps away from Lucy and their fabulous fish tacos! Either way, you can’t go wrong checking this place out. :)

Love the eclectic clientele and local-ish bands. Bartenders are pretty great too. Well the girl with the long black hair definitely was. They didn’t have the normal white russian(don’t make fun) ingredients but were able to whip something up that was just as delicious. While I was there a wedding party came and and had their own little after party in the place. The atmosphere is so cool that I didn’t ever realize(feel the need) to go to the cool patio on the side. I did hear that drinks are a little on the pricey side so that is why one star is reserved.

I recently visited the Roux House for a birthday get together with one of my friends. There where about 8 of us and when we came in the owner was at the front door and saw that we were celebrating. He let us all in for free(cover that night) and gave us the royal treatment. He set us up with a VIP tray with a bottle of liquor and juices. The servers even came over with sparklers to sing Happy Birthday. It made an good night awesome! Entertainment was awesome and bartenders were just lovely.

The roux house is normally a fun place to be. There’s a nice bar inside and on the patio. There are plenty of seats outside. I found the drinks way overpriced. 10 bucks for crown and coke when u can go next door to Lucy’s and get it for 6.

The Roux House has been downtown for a while, but I have yet to review it. It’s not really my type of bar, but that doesn’t mean it sucks. One of the biggest selling points of the Roux House is its location. It’s right by the The Manship Theatre and Shaw Centre for the Arts. It’s also by Happy’s and Lucy’s with Boudreax & Thibideaux’s not far away. The patio here is probably the nicest part about the bar. The inside of the bar is very nice too. They have a downstairs bar and an upstairs bar. The service is generally pretty swift, as this place doesn’t usually get ridiculously crowded. They have a stage for bands. This is probably the worst part of the bar for me, as I generally hate the music they play here. You might love it, but it is certainly not for me. I don’t generally come here often, but when I do I usually have a decent enough of a time. There are definitely worse places than this downtown, but there are also much better place too.

I lived in Baton Rouge for a year, and the only place I felt I could go that wasn’t a pure college scene was the Roux House. Great Music and Great Patio. It is great for all ages.

This place is managed by the same kids over at Walk-Ons so they know what they’re doing. This area has a huge appeal: the streets are clean, the crowd is a little more grown up than what you’ll find in Tigerland, and everything is pretty new. The Roux House specifically offers a nice place to have a happy hour on the patio. There are also usually bands on the weekends and this place is great during any festival or holiday type of thing — think St Patty’s Day Block Party.

As the city of Baton Rouge continues to transform, no area has endured more change than Downtown. It was once semi-downtrodden part of the city with lots of classic appeal but little energy at night. For local party goers, it was downright depressing until its recent nightlife revival resulting in a string of new and rejuvenated bars, lounges, and high rise condos(that no one should live in). The Roux House(AKA The Red House) is among the many places to check out, sporting a lots of space, a diverse scene, and plenty of Southern conviviality. On most nights, a $ 5 cover is practically mandatory for all folks, since often times there are live bands playing on the stage. Skip the cover and the crowds on Thursday nights, their version of Ladies night and all will be swell. A narrow interior with a stage present along with a large spacious outdoor patio makes for a great non-claustrophobic time. The drinks are spendy for Baton Rouge standards, but at the very least they’re well made(strong and ample). Bartenders are friendly and the live acts make this place a rowdy good time. I gather this place would be best for the spring and summer time, when the nights aren’t too chilly and the daytime is relaxed. I am not a fan of the live acts, though I think its nice to have that as an option. For what I know their food(Southern, Cajun) is fairly decent here. I’ll have to give a shot the next time I happen to be in downtown Baton Rouge.
