Went there with my son based on a recommendation. Ordered the regular and chargrilled oysters and rice and beans. It was not bad, but definitely not out of this world like I was made to believe by the recommendations. Service was slow and the waitress never came back and asked if we needed anything else

A Baton Rouge favorite that is just as good as the original. Iv had their cheese fries and seafood platters more times than o can remember. Also has one of the best beer selections in town.

I love the fact that The Chimes put a location closer to my house. I go to the one on campus rather often. The menu is slightly different but great. I have tried everything on this menu. I am super stoked that they now have chargrilled oysters. My fav. The drinks are superb. The only thing I don’t like about this building, it is hard to talk amongst friends because the acoustis in the building is horrible.

Wow, its been awhile since I was here. Forgot how much I love the Cheese Fries, more that I LOVE the gravy with them. Tabasco pepper jelly vinaigrette is my new favorite. Time to make some at home. Mac n cheese… spicy and creamy. Great cheese crust on top. Need some to take home for a midnight snack. The meats w were a bit overdone., we had a cheeseburger and pork chops. Overall, great meal. Too full for desert. P. S. do not forget the huge beer selection.

Hushpuppies were ok. Ordered catish poboy with no mayo and when I received my order I got not onlyayo but ketchup too. What aelf respecting restaurant puts ketchip on a poboy? When I asked the waitress she acted like ot was completely normal. Stuffed mushroom s weee nasty as well Too nad anout this place, used to be better.

For Southern/American style food, you have to try this place when you visit Baton Rouge. Service has consistently been great and the food is always hot and made to order. There is a wait a lot of times but it’s definitely worth it. For an appetizer, the spinach and artichoke dip with fried bow tie pasta is amazing. My friends normally get a pasta dish for their entrée and always enjoy it. Their brunches are delicious too. They have a special menu and mimosas on Sundays. Definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

Chimes East is the second location of the famous Chimes Restaurant(a Baton Rouge staple, just outside the gates of LSU). The East location has just as much charm and has become just as popular. The menu consists of typical Louisiana fare– fried seafood, boudin balls, alligator and other bar food such as burgers. There’s a full bar and plenty of TV’s throughout, making it a great place to watch a game with friends. The service is prompt and friendly. There’s brunch on the weekends as well. Its typically pretty crowded, so anticipate a wait, especially on the weekends and Thursday-Saturday nights.

The chimes east has more space and better service in my opinion. Their food of course is amazing especially the black and alligator. We used to go to trivia, which always seems to draw in a good crowd and they are usually friendly competitors. I would highly recommend going to try chimes east out even if you like chimes on Highland. I think they’re food taste a little different even though it’s the same restaurant.

Probably one of my favorites places to visit in Baton Rouge. Glad we have a location out this way to enjoy now! Since I’m a pretty light water, the grilled chicken platter is awesome for me because it is 2 meals for the price of one!!! Bar selection is great, no matter what you are looking to order. Take out is super easy too!

This place was recommended by my fellow Unilocalers but first brought to my attention by a fabulous front desk representative at my hotel! Gotta say, when I come to LA, I want good Cajun seafood. I’m split between shrimp and etouffe’ but I’ve found a new favorite: BBQ shrimp with a fried grit cake! When I lived in Houston I was in love with now defunct restaurant that had the best ‘voodoo’ shrimp. Well, this is so close, I will be back every time I’m in Baton Rouge! Ashley, my server(who really gets great customer service) wanted to sample me on the sauce as she put it, «I want you to know what you’re getting. It’s not really barbecue. «once I tasted the wonderful butter and spices I was sold! I had a leisurely dinner and enjoyed the baseball(lots of TVs) and the place was hopping for a Monday night. Definitely a «repeater!»

I love The Chimes and Chimes East is just as good maybe even a little cleaner. All of their food is spot on. I have learned that there are Sammy’s loyalist and Chimes loyalist. Well, I think I fall in in the Chimes loyalist category. Their crawfish étouffée is the best outside of my own house. You can’t beat half off oysters during happy hour and the beer selection is bar none. They always have amazing lunch specials for under $ 10.00. My top 5 has to be: 1. crawfish étouffée 2. seafood pasta 3. jalapeño cheese burger 4. boudin balls 5. seafood gumbo But I suggest you try everything.

Thank you Chimes East for an amazing meal! While I was home for a visit I had a friend drive in from Magnolia, Ms. to take us out to eat. I chose Chimes East because of the great selection in food as well as the atmosphere… And it did not disappoint! We arrived around 7:30 on a Thursday night and were seated promptly. Eric, our sever came over and told us about the specials as well as took our drink order and in no time we had our drinks and were placing our order. While the restaurant was packed, our food arrived quickly and was absolutely amazing! We shared the 3 cheese and crawfish macaroni for an appetizer and it was just enough for the three of us to enjoy without filling us up! We each chose a different entrée and then shared around so we could all have a taste of one another’s! My daughter ordered the fried alligator appetizer with a side of fries as her entrée. The appetizer is large enough for one to have as a great meal! Their alligator was tender and not overly chewy and the breading was light and not too heavy or greasy. I had the seafood and andouille pasta and it was amazing! It was chocked full of shrimp, crawfish and andouille and the Cajun cream sauce was perfect. Even with sharing I took a large portion home! My friend had the charbroiled catfish and the next time we go I am ordering it! It had such a wonderful flavor — and the garlic butter sauce on top was like nothing I had ever had before. I highly recommend trying this dish! We ended the evening with their bread pudding and it was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. Again, it’s large enough to share and even with the 3 of us eating on it, we took a good bit home! If you have not tried The Chimes East, you should! The atmosphere is great and the food is terrific!

I really like Chimes I visit them a lot. Recently, last Wednesday to be exact. I brought my mom and kids there for lunch. The kids and I ordered our usual oysters, burgers, shrimp. My mom ordered the Glazed Pork Chops, she had never had them before, the waiter assured her that they were good, and that she would love them. Everything came out good… So my mom has really bad acid reflux, so the pork chop was very very thick(not chimes fault) so she tried to eat it. It got stuck in her throat! She had to immediately go to the restroom and try to throw it up. She was in there for over 15 minutes, choking… And throwing up. When she returned to the table, she asked the waiter if she could order something else. He said that he would have to get the manager. Well, the manager came out(TOM). We explained to him the situation… It was just too thick for her to eat. He acted as if we’re speaking greek… Asking questions like is it too spicy? When we had clearly told him what the issue was. He didn’t think that was a good enough reason to take it back, he even told us that. After he stared at us as if we were aliens… So we gave up, and sent it back, he was hesitant to even pick it up off the table, and frustratingly told us he would take it off. When the waiter came back about 5 minutes later. He asked if she wanted anything else? Because of Tom’s behavior, we decided to just get a potato to go. Well, guess what Tom did? Sent her back the cold potato that had been sitting on her plate, she sent it back. How did we know it was the same potato? It’s was COLD, and it had the glaze from the pork hop on the side of it. So we sent that back too, they took it off the bill. But, Tom made sure he charged us for that salad! This is not the first time we have had a issue with Chimes taking back food that wasn’t up to par, or that we didn’t like. Apparently, they have a policy that they won’t take food back. Instead they offer to fix it for you. It’s crazy… This is just a warning. I could give more examples, but I think you guys get the picture. I give them a two star because of Tom, he could have handled it better.

Always have a good experience here… when I can find a place to sit in the bar area. Have driven in a few times and left due to the large crowd and nowhere to park or sit. That being said, the four or five times in at the bar have been fine times and this location is as good as the LSU one with a bit different vibe. Service has been great, drink selections galore and the food well above average. Love the boudin balls for sure and they are a must when you visit since you can’t get these everywhere. Oysters are great. Nice place to meet for late afternoon business meetings too. I have not experienced eating in their dining room so cannot add anything there. A return here is pretty much guaranteed.

Amazing selection of beer. Great local feel similar to Cheers. The appetizer selection offers plenty appeal to the tastebuds. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgable of the rotating taps. The newly added chargrilled oysters are great tasting and perfect for late night. My wife and I always bring family and friends for meals and a cold beer…

I love this location and overall Chimes is my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. The reason is that I love the food, beer, and if someone was visiting and had to pick one restaurant I would choose Chimes. The locals often take it for granted but they’re so good. Also, best seafood gumbo in town. The crab finger appetizer is awesome and everything blackened is great, including the alligator. The spinach salad with salmon is my go-to meal. I love their Tuesday night Oyster special when they’re in season. Great restaurant! Can get busy, but the wait is usually never too long unless it’s brunch. Also thank you for making the boudin omelette a permanent menu item :)
