Service was awesome. My father has to be on a special diet for medical reasons and out server Deandre was very hospitable and explained several options to my father who was beyond happy with what he received. Thank you all so much we will be back!

Truly Free Bakery & Deli is a locally owned café located in the hip Perkins overpass area of Baton Rouge. It is located with a large shopping center so parking is ample and there are many other businesses/boutiques within walking distance(for perusing after you are done with your meal). Truly Free offers vegan, vegetarian, organic, and gluten free fare. The food is reasonably priced. Service can be somewhat slow though. The food is good, but can sometimes be a bit on the bland side. They also offer baked goods(cupcakes, cookies, etc.) and those are outstanding!

Went tonight with my husband on a date night. We are both on the«whole 30» eating program, which eliminates grains, sugar of all kinds, and dairy products. Obviously eating out is difficult. I was a little overwhelmed by the menu but the owner offered to switch out the grains in my meal for extra veggies! He was extremely helpful and was really flexible with our dietary needs. On top of the hospitality, the food was delicious. I ordered a grass fed beef bowl(subbed the rice for extra veggies) with their pesto dressing on the side. It was delicious. Grass fed beef can be plain and boring(there’s no fat essentially), but the meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Ambiance is a little lacking, but you forget about that once the food shows up. I will definitely return!

Wide selection of vegan food, everything is made with amazing vegan cheese. The food is delicious, staff is very nice. The food takes a little long to come out but totally worth the wait. They use only organic and local grown ingredients. Prices are ok. Yummy Yummy!!!

I really enjoyed eating here. The bread was very good and was very happy to learn you can buy it by the loaf! The staff was friendly as well! My only complaint was that it was a little smoky in there and they could use a little updating as far as the décor goes. Highly recommend especially if you have special dietary needs.

Worst restaurant ever. I turned in my food. I didn’t want my money back. They fought with me and tried to explain ten reasons why I should understand this or that. Absolute jerk of a manager is homophobic.

Delicious. I love this place. One of my favorite restaurants in town. The Eggplant avocado sandwich is yummy and my hubby loves the Reuben! The staff is sweet and very helpful. I definitely recommend this for local vegans and carnivores.

I didn’t have to worry about what I could eat on the menu since all of it was gluten free. The guacamole was made fresh and the fruit side was fresh. The food was excellent. I had the burger and side of veggies. Very happy there is this type of restaurant in Baton Rouge.

We ate here at dinner time because our little grandson has several food allergies. We had bison burgers, shrimp stir fry and lobster tacos: all good, as were the brownie and cookies we had for dessert. Their sweet tea and no calorie soft drinks — all made with stevia — were surprisingly good. Please note: this café closes at 9 pm, not 6, as indicated on Unilocal

I really love going to this place for lunch or picking up dessert to bring home and enjoy. The staff is really friendly and the food is delicious. I also like how they have a giant TV that always seems to have Food Network playing. My favorites are the Caesar Salad, the artichoke dip, and the vegan reuben with sweet potato fries. I also recommend their donuts and cupcakes.

I ordered a bison burger cooked medium. I took a couple bites. It was pretty flavorless, no pickles or cheese that I asked for. I took it off the bun, bit into it to discover it was completely raw meat on the inside. I lusually eat my steaks/meat medium to medium rare, but this was completely raw. No thanks. I won’t be dining here again.

Love the paninis wraps and desserts. My favorite place to eat in town. Their eggplant sandwich is amazing and their turkey club on collard green wrap is amazing. I love the chocolate cupcakes.

I love it here. I follow more of a paleo diet, so watch your sugar if you are carb free. The pizza is good and the bakery is to die for. Have gone many times and never been disappointed with the quality. Even my son eats their pizza and as a picky teen that I’m always trying to sneak healthy food into, this is a win. Haha

If you need an alergy friendly place in Baton Rouge, this is the place to go! The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! The only problem I had is that I could eat everything on the menu and I didn’t know what to choose! No more tiny menus! They are gluten, egg, dairy, and casain free. So yummy!

They are serious about being GF, which is great! Got their grass-fed beef with grilled veggies over a bed of quinoa, which was definitely very filling. Someone else got their nachos, which was also a large portion. The staff is a mixed bag of polite and OK. NOT kid-friendly, but good for a quick lunch meet-up/meeting. I grabbed a doughnut on the way out: they’re quite small, and not very good(if you’re comparing it to a «real» «cake» doughnut. I’d come back for a good, quick lunch/meal or perhaps even take it on the go.

This place has some pretty disparate reviews. It’s not hard to see why. The food is decent if you’re into vegan/vegetarian foods or gluten free, but if not, you may want to skip it. If I come here I usually get a bowl with tempeh or shrimp and quinoa. My biggest complaint with the bowls is that both the teriyaki sauce and bbq sauce that come with it are cloyingly, almost sickeningly sweet. Maybe if you mixed up some sriracha it would cut some of the sweetness to a more acceptable level. Their tomato basil tastes a bit strange. It’s a lot thinner than most tomato basil soups I’ve had. It’s not terrible, but I probably would not get it again. On the other hand they have excellent veggie chili. As a lot of people have said, this place is way too overpriced for what you get. Another complaint I have that I haven’t seen much of in the comments, is that this place has a lot of service issues and can be extremely slow. I don’t think that any of these issues are insurmountable, but this place has been open for several years and they still haven’t addressed them.

A healthy restaurant in BR? I’m in love. Their deserts are delicious! Can’t wait to try them all. I always order one of the bowls with quinoa and ground turkey. The turkey was seasoned to perfection last time. Yum! I can’t wait to give some of the other things on the menu a try: salads, wraps, paninis, pizza etc. Hopefully, they are all as tasty as what I’ve already experienced. Also, their drive thru is the way to go. The atmosphere is drab and it’s usually kind of smoky in there.
