I was in town visiting a friend and since I from the west coast, I did not know most of the local breweries that they carried. The employees were fantastic as they let me sample a couple that they recommended and made sure that I was happy with my choices. As soon as they see an empty beer glass, they will get it out of your way. It is even a dog friendly bar! The next time I’m in Baton Rouge, I will be coming back to The Bulldog!

Absolutely one of my favorite bars in Baton Rouge, great atmosphere, great people and the Bartenders are awesome. Most also know their beers and if they aren’t sure about one will find an answer for you. Wednesday is Pint night and you get to keep your glasses which always come with something great on them.

If you like to hang with good company/friends + your awesome dog + sipping on a good beer, this is the place to be!!! One of my FAVORITE place for my friends and myself! The service is always spectacular, and the bartenders are awesome at giving recommendations. Never had that pale ale your friend recommended? Always wanted to try that Belgium beer your exotic, hot exchange college neighbor drinks? Or just wanting to try something«different?» …then you need to come here! They have more than 50 local and specialty beer on tap; and a few choices in bottle. If your date doesn’t want beer, but wine? They have that too. Did I mention they have an awesome outdoor patio in the back? And did I mention that you can bring your dog? Oh wait… did I mention they serve fabulous bar foods!!! Yeah. This is the place to be. :) Why would you want to go anywhere else? :P hahaha…

My absolute favorite place in Baton Rouge. I moved here from Seattle so I left behind a lot of good beer and have had no luck finding a good selection or a good IPA. Our bartender, I believe her name was Celeste, was the amazing. She knew exactly what I wanted and sold me some really good IPAs. I ordered the fish tacos and they were the best I’ve ever had. I’ll be bringing everyone I can to drink some beers at The Bulldog.

Sometimes you just want a beer that isn’t Bud Light and you want it in a cold glass and you want the person behind the bar to know what hops are and that stouts are not always an appropriate choice. Other times you want to be able to take your pint glass home without the fear of judgment or persecution. If either of these scenarios appeal to you, go to the Bulldog. It’s smoke free now, you can hang with your pet outside, and there’s always a nice mix of normal people, older people, and crazy people making out at the bar. Best place in Baton Rouge BYFAR to watch a Saints game and their bar food is pretty decent. Great place to try local beers and just chill out.

We usually come in Sunday when it is pretty quiet during the Saints game. I like the bar food. It is exactly what it should be. Even at the more busy times it is still a very friendly place. The bartenders are great and know their beers. There are puppies! What is better then that?

I’ve been here four times. I love the outdoor Patio area and the amazing beer selection. The bartenders really know their craft beer. If you stop in on Wednesday you can keep the pint glass! I’ve yet to try the food but the orders cruising by me looked inviting. I like this place better in the late afternoon for enjoying a a cold brew with a friend on the patio. I was there for a night time event and it was super busy. I still got my beer in a reasonable amount of time considering I had to fight my way through the crowd. Friendly competent service, nice patio and huge selection of craft beer equals a win in my book.

Great beer selection, good atmosphere, and good bar food. I had a miscommunication with a bartender and he addressed it quickly and very well. It is definitely a place I will return to.

Could be the most extensive tap wall/beer list in Louisiana. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth a visit if you are craft beer fan. They have some very rare and expensive beers like a $ 200 bottle of beer from BrewDog that is like 40% ABV. Can’t comment on their food, but I will say that the cider pictured was really tasty.

Get’s crowded at times — starting around the bar area — turning a drink order into a pushy-shovey adventure. Some people like that I guess, but I don’t. Wednesdays are ‘pint night’ where as you can keep your decorative pint glass with each beer purchased. Fun, that’s when it’s the most crowded! I do enjoy bringing my dog and sitting outside as their outdoor patio area is very pleasant. Grab a burger at their grill and make an evening of it, if weather permits!

If you like beer and food then you will love the bulldog! My husband and I went here for a date night. They have a great menu with some kicked up bar food. I love the appetizers, but this time we both went for chicken sandwiches. I had the club and he had a wrap. They were both amazing. We were both in the mood to try many different beers, so we would just have the bartender pick something that would work for us. His recommendations were always spot on! After a while he matched our personalities with his choices and that made the night much better. We drank draft beers that were less than $ 5 each, what a night! The atmosphere was awesome and the people were great. I’ll be back soon.

Went Wednesday night and was there from 7:30 — 10:30 and this place was packed the entire time — on a normal wednesday night. Other times I have been here it has been busy as well but you almost always can find a place to sit within 5 – 10 minutes. Because it is crowded the bulldog is loud. There is a nice patio in the back but this is where the smokers go. Food is average but this is a bar so the food meet expectations. Oh yeah, you are wondering about the beer? Well, I do not drink beer. Not! This is my experience with beer at the bulldog and the reasons for 3 stars — with all of the beer options they have, there are too many occasions I have to go to a second choice as first choice is not available — maybe high expectations or maybe something else but that’s my experience. For example this past wednesday I first asked for a new brew a friend recommended: not your dads root beer — not sure how difficult this is to get, but the bartenders answer was that they ran out. Okay, it may be a difficult one do I go to a more common one: Amstel light. Answer — we do not have any cold ones at the moment — -I appreciate the honesty however, 2 requests and struck down on both. Choice 3 was simply what’s your coldest beer in there? Again with so many selections I always leave happy however it raises an eyebrow with the number of times I have to go to plan b

This was my first visit to the Bulldog, even though it has been open for years. We just picked a random night to go, but it was a bonus to find out that it was pint night and you were able to take the glasses home with you.(WED) We ate before, so we didn’t get to try anything from the kitchen; however the staff buzzing around was very cheerful and the bartenders were happy to serve you. The lighting is a bit dim for my preference, but it was welcoming anyways. The beer selection was tremendous, a whole wall had nothing but taps on it. I can’t comment on the liquor selection, but they did have the basic crown and coke if that was what you were feeling. Overall, great experience!

Their beer collection is okay. But I guess why people go to Bulldog is for the company. You get to meet so many people. Plus on wednesdays you can take your glasses back home with you. Not that they are great, but yeah! ok! So, basically for my taste it is okay! Not a classy place a such!

The Bulldog located on perkins road near college drive is pretty cool. They have a wide selection of beers and they serve food as well. The outside area is very creatively done with reclaimed beer bottles and is big. Everyone shoukd try the nachos here. Best ive ever had

As a young whipper snapper, I frequented the NOLA Magazine St Bulldog a lot. I mean a real lot. They have been offering that free glass Wednesday promo for years and at the time, I probably had enough of those to drink in a different glass every day for a year.(Only slightly exaggeratting). Fast forward 12 years and a divorce later and the Uptown New Orleans location furnished my glassware. Fast forward another 5 years and a promotion later and I’m here every Wednesday for a few pints and dinner. I’m older now so I only drink a few. The beer selection at all 3 locations are relatively the same, 50 beers on tap, more on bottle and bartenders that know their stuff. The Baton Rouge local may be the friendliest of the 3. The food is solid. Several good burgers, all with a beer theme. I had the Chimay Blue cheese burger. Really good! The buffalo chicken salad is also a solid choice. The out door patio and fountain area is nice, except that the view has the feel of a suburban strip mall. The inside feel more like the Uptown Nola location with comfy seating and a solid bar. It’s rare that from 18 – 38 you can still enjoy the same bar(drinking age was 18 then in these parts people!). I hope to keep enjoying it when I’m 58. Oh and I have another 2 glasses to add to my glassware.

Belgian beers can be found here! I love the atmosphere especially the outdoor fountain, it gives the feel of a real bier garden! I love the friendly pup environment too! It’s so great to pet and mingle with the owners since I’m from Memphis, made new friends! You can find La Trappe Quadruple, Delirium Tremens and Nocturnum here. Triple Karmeliet too. That’s all I remember at the moment. My new fave is Crown of the Valley Strawberry Cider. Currently on tap, cold and delicious! It’s crazy, but somehow it’s sweeter on tap versus bottle. Get it while you can, because it doesn’t last long! Bulldog has an incredible selection of local brews on tap! Personally, I’m holding out for a ZooBrew or any massive beer tasting event to take place. I’m not familiar with the local breweries since I’m from Memphis, and a tasting will be the economical way to learn. Come out and see Patrick, my favorite bartender at Bulldog BR! Also, don’t leave without eating the cheesy Amber Fries! A great pub in my opinion carries fries with ranch dressing. And Bulldog exceeds expectations with their huge serving of waffle-shaped fries, smothered with cheese served with ranch! Enjoy a wicked pub!

We were there from 9 – 10:30ish on a Wednesday and it wasn’t too bad, but I heard it can get packed later on. Huge beer selection. Drinks are reasonably priced… maybe slightly more than other places. Service is really non-existent; there are no servers and you have to go to bar to order drinks, which seems like it would be a lot of trouble if really crowded. Definitely attracts a young crowd(Mid-late 20s) Music is controlled using a Smartphone app where people can buy their songs and vote up songs in the queue. $ 1 for 10 credits. 10 credits = 1 song of choice(pricey) or you can do a random song by an artist for 3 credits. My only issue is smoking is allowed. Being from Atlanta, I haven’t been to a bar that has allowed smoking in a while. Had to drop it a 1 star. If you don’t mind that then consider it a 4 star establishment.
