My husband and I ate here on a Saturday night with another couple. The décor is pretty cool and it has kind of an Atlantic City nightlife vibe. The food took foreverrrrr to come out, but everything was really good. Started with steamed veggie dumplings, then I had the monster roll and spicy tuna roll. My guy had the hibachi steak, which was delicious and tender. I kept snagging bites with my chopsticks. I’d definitely go back, maybe at a time when it’s a little less crazy(like not 8pm on a Saturday). Server was also very attentive.

Came here for my cousins birthday and it was really good. Nice atmosphere and excellent food. The edamame was amazing. My husband and I got the sushi platter for 2 and it was fresh and delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal too. The wait staff was very friendly but took them about four times questioning our drinks just to get waters. I would definitely make the trip to come back!

So since the last experience I had here the new owners had expressed that they were sorry for my last visit and to give it another try. After carrying a baby around for 10 months I was craving a little sushi! So…Girls night out included a delicious cucumber margarita and my new favorite rolls! The long beach oyster(which was a special but they also will make it for you other days) and the Demon roll. Food and service was great. Until the end, when we were beginning to feel rushed out again. Our bill was nice and high and we don’t linger in excess, but if I order a bottle of saki I hope to finish it without having our server come over every ten seconds to check if we are done. So I’ll up the review to 3 stars due to the improvement on the food and drinks, but still wish you could go here and not feel so uncomfortable.

My favorite place to go with my boyfriend! We go at least once a week and it just gets better each time. I recommend to anyone who likes sushi! You’ll love this place just as much as I do!

This place is no Bueno. I feel so bad for everyone who rates this highly — you must have never had quality sushi. Go to the big apple and treat yourselves at Tomoe or nakazawa. I am responding to Kevin’s comments — the sushi is no where near worthy of more than 1 star as u would appreciate if you have visited sushi nakazawa or Tomoe sushi. The presentation is strange — who wants an LED light in their sashimi? I think my concerns can be addressed if you find a better fish distributor. If it makes you feel any better — I have not yet been to a quality sushi place on Long Island. I encourage all readers to visit the big apple for decent fish.

Typical trendy lounge décor that seems to be the trend in nicer sushi restaurants. Sushi is great, I’ve never had an «off» night. I don’t have one particular roll I always go to but anything I’ve had, it’s always good. Drinks are well made and tasty. Prices are moderate to pricier for some things. Service is good. Sometimes a long wait on weekends and there’s lack of area to wait so you kind of feel in the way when doing so. The best sushi spot in an area where there are many others to choose from just doors down.

I like Aji… that being said, I don’t like it nearly as much as other places i have been. Hearing great things about Aji 53, I really expected more. More everything; more flavor, more options, more value. The service was fine, and the salads were good with a great dressing. A great start to an acceptable meal. The«3rd Street» has a big glob of cream cheese in it which is quite overpowering and should just be spread on a bagel at the point of plating. The«Dancing Dragon» goes unexplained on the menu but is pretty much classic, with avocado and eel outside, with a good taste throughout. California rolls, to me, are boring, theirs of course is nothing different, and fine for what it is. Same goes for their rather boring version of tempura, which brings me to the ‘American Dream.” This roll, while decent, not nearly as good as I’ve had elsewhere and makes my overall opinion of Aji that much worse. The«Koo» was alright, and not too overpowering on the Tuna which was good, but paled in comparison to their Paradise roll. The«Paradise» was just that, nothing short of fantastic, and the only reason I’d ever return. That, and their salad dressing. The bill reminds you not to come back for high priced, low value… everything.(most everything)

Disclaimer: my in-laws are regulars and we are treated like celebrities when we dine here. So however that biased my review, it still says a lot about how well they treat patrons. The sushi and sashimi are of the highest quality. The menu is enormous, and if you have any allergies, they gladly make any alternatives and even give recommendations. One of my favorite dishes is the seared sea bass entrée, perfectly crusted and still tender. The bar is beautiful and a fun place to hang out. The portions are good, and the prices are ok. It’s great to impress a date or celebrate with a group.

Best sushi I’ve had in some time! The miso soup was by far my favorite in a long time! Do not pass up on the edamame, so tasty and perfectly salty! Enjoyed the Angel roll and the Magic roll with cucumber added, personal preference! The fish was all fresh and delicious, presentation was beautiful, everything perfect! Highly recommend! And the Dragon Punch is a cocktail on the lighter side with some fizz to it, I found it to be very pleasant. Waiter was very nice and helpful, overall great experience.

Love the Aji! Came in for lunch and received the same great meal I’ve experienced at the Smithtown location. The Tri-color Salad(tuna, salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, asparagus, seaweed & spring mix, served w. fresh wasabi dressing) is a great combination of my fave ingredients and the wasabi dressing gives it a nice little kick. It’s perfect for a lite lunch. Being that I don’t do lite lunches, I also ordered a few slices of tuna and hamachi sashimi, which were equally delicious. Big cuts of fish that tasted fresh. Fish that doesn’t taste like fish… the best lol! It’s pretty quiet in here during lunch, so don’t worry about loud music or any riff raff. Can def come here for a date or a biz lunch. Do it!

Everyone I know has been telling me to go here — Not sure why it’s taken me so long to actually go since it’s right down the street from my favorite sushi place. I guess loyalty? The first thing I noticed when we walked in was it most certainly was jam packed and there was loud music pumping. I like trendy but I also like to have a conversation at dinner so we asked to be seated towards the back of the restaurant. They gave us a table in the back corner — mix of a crowd. Mid life crisis double date near us taking sake bombs and then a quite conservative old couple onlooking with horror but seemed to be enjoying their tour of the menu. They kept ordering appetizers like this was a Japanese tapas bar. The bottom line is despite the odd and loud atmosphere they put out great food. The fish is very fresh and their list of special rolls is unique. I would say their food and service certainly rival my favorite place in town but because of the loud music and also that they don’t offer the versatility of options for other Asian cuisine like Thai /Chinese I have to give them one less star then my favorite.

Awesome sushi, great ambiance, and rockin’ take out. Both times I have eaten here I have been very impressed with the freshness, flavoring, and presentation of the food. The service is also excellent both in house and with take out. Dining in you’d get the feel from the pictures above it is a night club. The décor is actually very fresh– lots of wood, open air, minimalist decoration but well done and beautiful. The take out I had gotten a month prior had been so good I was determined to try this place out in person. When I sat down I was greeted quickly and given a hot towel. It may sound silly but I really think that is a nice touch. The servers could not be more attentive or polite. As for food I had the beef negimaki(good, not fantastic, it was a heftier portion than I have expected) and two rolls(demon roll which was awesome and a stand by avocado cucumber which was tasty). The take out I had gotten was a bunch of bento boxes with my family. We had loved the rock shrimp tempura(guilty pleasure) and pretty much everything else we had. In short, it will be hard for me to try any of the other sushi places on Main Street now that Aji has set the bar so high. Will definitely be coming back!

I have been coming to Aji53 since they opened and it is one of my favorite restaurants on the island!!! I have probably tried almost everything on both the menu and drink menu and I always love it all! My go to rolls are the American Dream, Rock n Roll and Amazing Tuna. For apps the fried oysters and golden lobster are amazing! It’s an awesome date night and also night out with groups of friends! Great girls night out we always have fun, the music and ambiance is great. The staff is also awesome and so nice we usually Have at least one saki bomb with them when there. Overall Aji will never disappoint!!!

Very friendly staff and quick service. The restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated as well. The lunch special is a great deal: miso soup or salad with 2 rolls for $ 8 or 3 rolls for $ 11. The soup and salad are both very tasty and the rolls are good as well. The shrimp tempura mango and Tokyo rolls are my favorite. Overall pretty good lunch or date spot.

AJI53 Remains my favorite restaurant for Sushi on Long Island. A lunch special of 3 sushi rolls(18 pieces) and a house salad all for $ 11 is a steal so run don’t walk here. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the service although not perfectly trained is friendly and accommodating.

My all time favorite sushi place on Long Island. I’ve come here for multiple occasions. My birthday, college graduation and most recently valentines day lunch with my boyfriend just to name a few stand out events. I’ll choose to write about the later for this review. We came in for lunch on Valentine’s Day which happened to be a Saturday. They had a lunch special going on that was a pretty good deal. I got 2 rolls and a salad for $ 11. My boyfriend got 3 rolls and a salad for $ 15. We also split the tuna pizza which was crazy good. It was basically a tortilla with a layer of guac topped with fresh tuna and topped off with some sort of mayo hot sauce. Intriguing and delish. The server was attentive and pleasant.

Always delicious. Like I don’t think I’ve ever had one bad meal since coming here(it’s been at least 5 years now). The ambience is nice, it’s well maintained and the staff are always friendly and smiling. I usually get the filet mignon #1…it consists of 2 filet mignon medallions on a bed of spinach with a tomato and potatoes with it in a tasty little stack. I usually get the ginger dressing that comes with the salad on the side bc I use it as a dipping sauce for the filet. Sushi is also always delicious and fresh also. $ 23 for the filet mignon that tastes better than some steakhouse quality I’ve had. with a side of rice… I’ll take it! Nomnomnom… Place is good for dates and groups of people, they have U-shaped booth tables or tables that can be combined for larger parties…
