Happy hour isn’t as good as it used to be since the new owners took over, but man are they serving some good food! The kitchen opened recently and my husband and I have already tried half of the menu. So far the Patty Melt burger was his favorite and I really enjoyed the mac & cheese bites. Their fries aren’t seasoned very well, but everything else has been great. They had a nice facelift, but kept the basic vibe the same — It’s a cozy Irish bar with a slight«hole in the wall» feel(Not complaining). The bar is narrow so it can get crowded quickly, but the outdoor area was also redone and can be a welcome escape from the crowd. Service is always friendly. Worth checking out for some good bar food & a pint!

Came to this place with friends on a Monday night. The bar was empty, the bartender was unfriendly. We ordered 3 Long Island that were less than satisfactory. We asked the bartender to make one a little stronger and he seemed to be insulted. I was appalled and insulted by his scoff. I understand there are people that try to get over but this guy had to know his drinks were terrible.

I like this bar because it’s not overcrowded like all the other bars are. This is a place where you can find a seat sit down and have a nice tall beer and chill out without having to deal with huge crowds.

I must say the first time I was invited here I was a little hesitant to go since there is another Half Penny Pub in Sayville that isn’t quite my type of bar. Walking into this one though was much different. It’s such a cute little Irish pub that gives you a little old school feel as soon as you walk in. Dimly lit with the beautiful bar you’ll find a couple taps with the usual Budwiser but also a couple craft beers which they change out from time to time. There’s also a tap for Guinness, because an Irish pub without Guinness is no Irish pub at all! The clientele here is a little bit of an older crowd and they don’t serve food, but I’ve heard a kitchen is in the works which would make this place that much better. There is a popcorn machine for snacking though which hits the spot after a few pints. I’ve had such a blast the past couple times here so needless to say, I’ll be back!

Stopped in for a quick pint yesterday and I wasn’t disappointed. They have a brand new beautiful bar and nice new taps also. If you’re looking for a fresh Guinness poured CORRECTLY(tough to find sometimes) in the bay shore area — here’s your spot. Bartender Andrew was friendly, attentive and funny too! Only thing this place is missing is food. I would’ve stayed much longer if that option presented itself. Easy to find as the bar itself sticks out– parking in the rear.

Are you kidding me, place is a dump, you want to look at posters or you want beer and food, a frozen pizza is not food.

Awesome Irish looking bar from inside and out! Very eye appealing. Decent selection on beer. The 25oz mug deal and«mug night» is also offered at this Half Penny. Its not as large as the Sayville location and I dont think they have a kitchen. Bar tender was nice and quick with service. Only thing is you needed to bring money for music to play the jukebox. There was no ambient music playing which makes it a little uncomfortable if you’re by yourself. Overall, not a bad spot!

Being 100% Irish and never being able to find a traditional Irish pub, this was a god send. The drink specials are amazing and they have almost all of my favorite Irish beers(with the exception of McSorely’s). The customer service is better than average(2 out of the 4 bartenders know what they’re doing) and the amount of Irish flair and memorabilia is almost overwhelming. I love the thatched roof and countryside cottage look that they nailed head on. Tis truely a little taste of Ireland!!!

Eddie the owner is a great guy. The only traditional Irish Pub left in Bay Shore. Bartenders are great especially the bald headed Irish guy. Want a guiness? They sell a ton of it. Join their 100 pint club.

Wondered in here in search of a beer and a burger. Got 1 of them. the better one– beer. the bartender– approx my age and but prob in a pre arraigned Suffolk County relationship(the type that starts in HS and ends at age 20 with a kid and free tickets from 102.3 to see RUSH at Nassau Coliseum) We spoke at length about Iphone aps as the guy at the corner with a mug of Blue Point shot eyes at me to remind me that she was his cure from loneliness, and that i best finish my Red Wagon ale and catch the ferry if I know whats good for me. Plus the only food option here is that shitty bar pizza with the same logo that says something like«Real NY Pizza» This is found throughout the country and probably distributed by the Beer folks and just made me sad to see it in a fairly good pizza geographical region.

One of my favorite drinking spots. The bartenders are all awesome and friendly. I love a bar that has a relatively small crowd where ya can sit at the bar and bs with the person next to ya. Half Penny Pub is really a place where everybody knows your name.

i love this bar, and its out dated juke box. I go there often for a pint and always enjoy myself. The staff is great, and treat you like you are a human being. I will always be a fan of the half penny.

This place is super peaceful. Very quiet crowd… good place to enjoy some pints and have conversation. There is an outside area for the nicer weather which is sweet. Free popcorn and a jukebox… which hasn’t been updated since I would guess 1997. I can only listen to so much Tom Petty circa«Last Dance with Mary Jane» and U2 «Rattle and Hum». One of the few places I’ve been where the bartenders pour a shamrock in the Guinness head. Extra points for that.
