Le Soir is designed and setup as a small intimidate French restaurant. The menu is full of goodies and the specials makes it very hard to decide on what to have. The entrees come with a soup and a nice green salad(Cesar dressing) which were delicious. The bread wasn’t warm and fresh but delicious none-the-less. The entrée was well proportioned and well presented. The restaurant was packed on a Thursday night at 7pm and could have used a bus boy to help the wait staff. Overall 4⁄5 stars. One quick word of warning is the parking lot is very small about 12 spots. You can park across the street at the bank, but on a rainy night the parking lot is full of puddles.

Love this restaurant! Such good service and food. It also has a really nice comfortable feeling. I have been here many times and I have never been disappointed.

Great spot. Quaint, unassuming(for a French restaurant), and the food is simple and good. It also won’t kill the wallet. They are very accommodating and professional. I’m glad they have resisted the urge to add frills or make their presentation over the top.

Absolutely outstanding, authentic, high quality Cuisine Français! I have dined at this fine establishment numerous times over the years and never ever disappointed. The recently renovated décor is refreshingly spotless and not overdone. The art selections are soothing and tasteful. The staff is cordial and well trained. The staff is presided over by the owners and all seem genuinely happy to have you there and proud of what they offer. However, above all, the food is the main attraction of this fine dining experience and not to be missed. The prices are very reasonable given the superior quality but, not for those who wish to dine on the cheap. I highly recommend to all! Oh and be aware that reservations are required well in advance but, a «to go» option is offered or at least was a few years back. I only took the food to go once as I prefer the full in dining experience. Dress neatly too. Not a shorts and sandals ambiance. Enjoy!

There is no better French food this side of Paris. Not only is the food grand, the staff and owners are very professional and friendly. Bön appetit!

Haven’t been here for 30 years and a recent return visit reminded me why it’s been that long. While the idea of finding French cuisine in Suffolk County, or on Long Island for that matter, is appealing, the reality is that the food at Le Soir is okay at best – and pricey, although a weekday dinner include a cup of soup, a plate of leafy greens with a mustard vinaigrette and a small dessert. Apps are extra and will set up back $ 8-$ 15 so pp. Dinner begins with a tray of crusty bread and sweet butter, which was replenished. Interesting wines, but these too were overpriced. Wines by the glass –not listed in the wine card – are generic cab, merlot, pinot noir and chardonnay at $ 11 a glass. had the insipid pinot noir! You can bring your own wine, but $ 30 a bottle corkage makes it prohibitive, unless its a very special bottle. Soups of the day included a warm, heavy, floury potato leek offering and a cold tomato soup that kind of veered into gazpacho territory. at 7 pm on Tuesday at special of scallops in lobster sauce was no longer available, so I settled for noir de ris de veau(braised sweetbreads) in calvados sauce, a dish you don’t see too often. It arrived on fully loaded plate with haricots vert, slim carrots and a wedge of shredded potato pie –no artsy presentations here. The sweetbreads were in chunks, albeit tender, the sauce was heavy and lacked spark, and the potato pie seemed a tad greasy, A berry tart for dessert proved to be a slab of crusty puff-pastry covered with sliced strawberries and blueberries. Gone in a blink. Chocolate mousse consisted of two, plain egg-sized scoops sitting in a oval bowl. Not sure why Le Soir gets 26 for food on Zagat! Service was friendly and attentive, to be sure. The dining room was packed on a summer mid-week. Did these folks know something I didn’t? Perhaps it was the other way around.

A nice, quiet place to have a great meal. I find the prices very reasonable for the quality of food. It’s become the go to spot for our Anniversary Dinner.

Was ok, was expecting to be blown away but it just seemed middle of the road for the price. Nice place but just not impressed.

A wonderful and grown up restaurant. But throughout my recent dinner I felt that something was missing and I can’t put my finger on it. I must confess — it’s been a long time since my last visit and not much has changed. The room is beautiful and comfortable. Our server was as good as they come — attentive and professional. The baguettes(which were once the best on Long Island) are now gone — replaced by a good, but not a great, rustic white. Soup and salad are included with dinner which is a problem for me. Although this greatly reduces the cost of dinner, when an appetizer is added, it becomes just too much. The appetizers are too appealing to skip. Seared foie gras with apple was excellent and other choices were almost as tempting. The main courses we sampled were a calf’s liver special and a stuffed pork tenderloin. Both were good, but neither rose to the level of the starter. Entrees do come with a vegetable and a starch. Although very full I tried the apricot tart for dessert. Extra special good — the best part of my dinner. Bottom line — Le Soir is really one of Long Island’s gems — I just wish it was a little better.

My wife and I were here last Saturday and as always, everything was terrific. The house was packed. We are long-time fans(over 30 something years). Soup and salad come with the entrée. Always delicious. Every drop, every bite. We both tried specials tonight. My wife had Cod and loved it. I’m not much of a fish eater so I had a pork tenderloin, bacon-wrapped with gruyère cheese and a brown sauce that was incredible. We had a dessert we never had before– a lemon mousse-just fantastic. WE just love LeSoir. While no restaurant can please everyone, there is a great reason Le Soir endures the test of time.

A piece of heaven in the south fork of Long Island! You don’t need to get to France to get authentic dining and impeccable service while you have Le Soir! I have dined here multiple times throughout the year and consistency in the quality of the food and the amazing service is superb! Let’s start with the house salad and soups. Always fresh ingredients and delightfully paired… cool soups for the hot summer days and warm homemade thick soups like squash during cold winter nights. My favorite entrée is the filet de salmon almondine… fresh salmon cooked to perfection, with a light citrus taste and covered in crisply toasted almond slivers! Oh, don’t you dare leave without having dessert… they are amongst the best I have ever had. LEFLOATAIN… whisked vanilla cream showered with candied heaven. In addition they usually have fruit tarts, chocolate cake, and there are always fresh new additions.

This place never disappoints and has a great deal during the week. Entrees come with soup, salad and dessert. If you like French food you will not be disappointed. Duck a la’orange was excellent as was the rack of lamb. Soup was creamy and warming, desserts were fabulous. A bit on the quiet side so I wouldn’t come with young children but definitely a great meal and great value for a couple or couples night out. Highly recommend this place.

I have been going to Le Soir since shortly after they first opened in the 70’s. Not a religious customer but a few times a year. The fire was a devastation for everyone, but the recovery has been wonderful. The food has always been great whenever I have gone. One of my main reasons for visiting has always been the Escargot. I’m not a shell fish lover, but their Escargot is something that I have ordered each time I visit. The post fire building suffers from too any hard surfaces so when there is a full house it can get noisy, but I always go for the late seating and the din fades shortly after we arrive. My only complaint is societal, not specific to Le Soir. I wish that people would dress better when they go. I always enjoyed putting on a jacket, and possibly a tie, to go out to a place like this. Sadly that requirement has been removed, or ignored by society, and now we sit with people in all sorts of attire. I still dress, but I wish that others saw fit to as well.

This place is the real deal. Food is seasoned perfectly — not too much nor too little. The staff is equally perfect — attentive but not annoying. The atmosphere is calm and quaint. I’m usually itching to leave once the check comes but not here. We stayed chatting for 20 minutes(& no one made us feel pressured to leave). While it is expensive, I don’t mind because the food is worth it. Ahhh real French cuisine 10 minutes from home!

French I am a huge fan of French food in general and it is hard to find decent French on Long Island but Le Soir fills the bill perfectly. Family run, the place transports you temporarily to another place where you can sit back and enjoy a great meal — this is definitely a spot to bring that special someone but even if you are not celebrating something, it is perfect for exquisitely prepared and presented food. The menu is pretty extensive with almost all of my favorites — I haven’t gotten around to requesting anything off menu yet, but will some day I suppose. I have plenty to keep me satisfied for now. The bread they send out is exaclty what you expect: crunchy /tasty and oh so addicting. Country pâté and escargots are my usual apps but there really isn’t anything there I wouldn’t try– frog legs are next as is foie gras — looking forward to it. We recently hit it for restaurant week because I was in the mood for French and had the best short ribs I have ever eaten — period. Outstanding. Desserts are fresh made on premises and even though I am not much of a dessert guy, I will sometimes order one so I can take it with me. The service is excellent and the place packs out — so definitely get that reservation going. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that they do not have French reds by the glass– just the usual suspects you get everywhere else. To compensate, they do have a very nice selection of bottles(just be sure you know your French wines). Prices are a little on the higher side, but again, you are paying for quality and you will not be disappointed at all. Parking in the rear.

This is my go-to French restaurant on the island, serving country, rustic, traditional French. I was devastated when a fire struck, but was so happy to hear they were reopening and waited a long time for it. The chef is different(I heard the old one passed away) and the ambience is more upscale and contemporary now(used to be like a little English cottage), but the change has not been for the worse. The menu is still true to its past renditions, and I’m glad the veal sweetbreads are back on the permanent entrees section. Great deal on weeknights — you get a soup and salad, AND a dessert from the pastry tray, which has nice, flaky, fruit-based pastries, all included in the price of the entrees. Great service with really nice waitresses that you’ll get to recognize.

Our 730 table for two was not ready when we walked in. Had to sit at the bar where I was almost strangled by the huge flower piece. Sat in the corner. Handed burnt bread and menus. Specials were not described and were printed out. Ordered our apps and entrees. Started out good… clams casino were great and so we’re the scallops. Served the pot leek soup. Like eating a bowl of sand. I guess the chef didn’t completely remove the sand from the leeks. Failed Culinary 101. Then the entrée. Duck was way over cooked and stringy. A la Orange it was not. Three Orange supreme on top of my duck doesn’t make it. Flavorless and at 30 that duck better be perfect. My girlfriends pork was dry and overcooked as well. Sent my dish back and got the monkfish special. Too salty! Asked for the check, paid and ran out. Then the best part. Our server ran to my car knocked on the window and asked why I didn’t tip her well. Low class. Maybe if she didn’t charge me 36 for the monkfish I was forced to order after choking on my dry duck. She would have got %20 instead of % 15. I’ll never go back!

One of my favorite restaurants on the island, Le Soir’s friendly service and authentic French menu never fails to exceed my expectations. Hearty, full-flavored French fare with country favorites, this restaurant is a go-to in the dead of winter, when you need fearless food that will warm you for hours. Every entrée comes with the soup of the day, which can range from a cold gazpacho to a creamy leek and watercress soup, and their house salad of mixed buttery lettuces and a mustard-based dressing. The entrees are generously portioned, and pasta is housemade. The steaks are a little tough, but this is not a steakhouse, so who cares? The jumbo shrimp risotto is fabulous, with perfectly executed risotto and truly jumbo shrimp. The whole lobster is served shelled and reassembled, and on a bed of delightful diced summer vegetables in a light whiskey-accented broth. The duck l’orange is a little overdone at times, but the flavor is superb and the portion is out of control. Their veal escalopes are always outstanding, with a mushroom-rich sauce that has you licking the plate. Moving backwards, the French bread they serve, crusty with a cold pat of sweet cream butter, is addicting, and their appetizers are fabulous. They know how to properly execute a good escargot plate(and where else can you even FIND escargot on Long Island??), and the foie gras is prepared well, too. The lump crab cakes are best when they offer them with the fried leeks, and my husband goes nuts over the sweetbreads(again, where else on LI do you see THAT on the menu?!). All desserts are housemade, which is a huge plus for me, and they often have lighter French fruit pastries on offer, like mixed berry tarts and comforting classics like their apple pear crumble. They also have a luxuriously light meringue dessert, a lush cheesecake, beautiful crème caramel, and chocolate mousse desserts on offer as well. HINT: Make a reservation — this cozy little house packs out right quick. And be sure to go Monday-Thursday … dessert gets thrown in with your entrée!
