My fiancé and I stopped by Paris Baguette inside of H-Mart while standing on line to pay for our groceries. My fiancé noticed some pastries that he wanted to try and of course, I am always craving bubble tea. We got the sweet potato and pineapple pastry. Both were really good and exceeded my expectations for an asian bakery. My bubble tea was okay. I am taking one star off, because our cashier seemed a bit spaced out and kept asking us to repeat what we wanted. Other than that, I would give this place another shot.

I will never go to a Paris Baguette within another location ever again. In so many words they basically admitted to me that they get all the leftovers that aren’t sold at the prime Paris Baguette locations that day. I walk in and see barely anything in the case. I was short on time and needed to grab some pastries for some guests I was expecting shortly. Not only that but the items they did have seemed a bit over priced. There were barely any cakes besides a couple of slivers of tiramisu and who even knows how long it’s been sitting there. I asked them where are all the rest of the cakes and other items. They said they aren’t delivered until 1pm. If you think about it you can figure out what that pretty much implies because everyone knows fresh goods are baked first thing in the morning. There is only a small window after 1pm until closing time when you will get something that’s possibly been baked the same day. If not when you return the next morning you are getting yesterday’s pasties. If I arrive early on a Sunday morning and I can’t get what I want you better believe I wont be coming back. Take the extra few minutes and drive to an actual Paris Baguette stand alone location and forget this place even existed.

Some of the employees do not know how to make hot chocolate. Sometimes, big clumps of chocolate is sitting at the bottom of the cup because it wasn’t stirred properly. Just this morning, this dude used chocolate syrup instead of powdered chocolate, which they had, so the drink wasn’t even chocolaty. It was just a sugary warm milk. And they charge $ 3.50 for a small cup! If I’m going to pay $ 3.50 for a small cup you should make it right. That is the only gripe I have with this place. Please train the employees to make a proper hot chocolate.

Located in the H-Mart Supermarket building, which use to be Walbums(A&P for those people who remember what that building was in the 80’s), it’s the smallest branch of Paris Baguette I’ve experienced thus far. Some may even consider it a Paris Baguette booth, however the employees there call it a branch. You have a few of your yummy favorites from the fruit custard tart to yogurt cakes. They restock at regular intervals, however unless you grab your choice pastries when the newest shipment comes in, you’ll be at a loss. It gets crowded here, especially on weekends. For those use to sitting down to eat your goodies, best look to sit outside unless you want to rub elbows, or enjoy like you’re on the subway during rush hour. The service is a tad slower than the Main Street branch, and less friendly than the Palisades Park store, but it has it’s own charm; one being located near my Flushing stomping grounds. There is a parking lot, however good luck getting a spot. You may be better off finding street parking near one of the residential streets, or parking in the Astoria Bank parking lot that is semi-adjoined to. For commuters taking the Q31 or Q27, this could also be a pleasant early stop off. This gets a 3-star, «A-OK,» rating from me.
