My wife and I were booked two nights at the Golden Eagle Inn from a friend. Even though we live only 40 minutes from Bedford, we hadn’t heard of the inn before. To summarize, we just had an outstanding 3 days and 2 nights at the Golden Eagle Inn and Bedford. The owners were beyond friendly and immediately answered any questions we had or provided with us with anything we asked for. The inn was extremely clean and was restored to a time long ago. There was a screened in porch to sit outside and read a book, play board games, rock on rocking chairs, and just enjoy the outside. Our room was nice and simple. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and updated. The inn is in the center of town and made it easy to walk to all of the amazing stores. Anyone that hasn’t walked around to the shops in Bedford, needs to. There are amazing stores that offer many products that can only be found in Pittsburgh or other larger cities. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was probably the best I have ever had. We also ate dinner one night in the dinning room. Once again, the food was incredible. They also have an extensive wine and craft beer selection to choose from. Last, but not least, there is a pub on the lower level that is a great place to stop for a beverage or snack. I would highly recommend staying at the Golden Eagle Inn. We needed a relaxing getaway and our stay couldn’t have been more perfect!

Great atmosphere in the pub, with formal dining available in the upstairs dining room. I had the special of beef cheeks and polenta, in a delicious nicely reduced sauce. I don’t recall ever having tasted such tender shredded yet firm like meat in forever, it was outstanding I wanted about 4 or things on either the appetizers or main menu My wife had a very moist and tasty swordfish. Complimented with a nice and reasonable priced wine list, along with some tasty draft beers. We had a very enjoyable meal and evening at the golden eagle in Bedford. We’ve stayed there once before and really liked the room and an amazingly tasty breakfast, which is why we came back to sample dinner. We just now need to find more excuses to travel to Bedford to stay at this wonderful place. Nice Inn great food, outstanding, and a great little pub. What more could you ask for? Rob

I can only speak to the brunch menu, and it is really outstanding. The selections are creative – not your boring eggs and bacon – mine had pork belly and unbelievably delicious crispy potatoes. The menu is different every time. The people are friendly and though it’s a linen napkin place, it’s casual. Beautiful atmosphere too.

I came in with my mother in law and daughter. We were seated right away and the hostess was very pleasant. Our server… let’s just say seemed like she was doing us a favor by taking our order. When I asked for a different type of cheese on my sandwich… I was told they did not do substitutions when they were so busy… there were 4 other parties there. After about 45 minutes, a woman that I assume was the manager, came to ask if we enjoyed our food… we had not gotten it yet. We finally got our food, which was very good. When we finished our server came back and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for coffee and was met with an annoyed huff and was told that she would have to make some. I told her not to bother. We paid and left. After checking there website I found out they they closed at 2pm. We got there at about 1pm. I understand that they were trying to clean up and close down, but the rudeness was not necessary. It is a beautiful setting and the food was delicious but the service alone would prevent me from ever setting foot in there again. Really disappointing.

We walked in at 8:30 on a Saturday and were stared down by most of the staff in the upstairs like we just ruined their entire evening. To make things more amiable we offered to eat in the downstairs pub area. Our waitress downstairs was over worked and under experienced to deal with the crowd of the day from the autumn festival. She forget to bring items back even after we them confirmed with her. We ordered the mussels which were good, but the table next to us ordered the same item and their bowl was double the size. We then shared the puff chicken appetizer. It was ok. The potatoes were under cooked and didn’t have much flavor. I ordered the burger with special sauce. It was good but not wonderful. Save your time and go to Jean Bonnet tavern.

My husband and I have a vacation home near Bedford. We went to The Golden Eagle on a Saturday night with another couple. The Inn is a historic building and the restaurant is pleasantly decorated to match. The staff was very attentive. The menu was creative American-style cooking. We had the shaved Brussels sprout salad as a starter which was amazing. Try it even if you don’t like Brussels sprouts! My main course was flavorful hamburger with interesting and tasty garnishes accompanied by delicious hand cut fries. Everyone one else was very pleased with the thinly sliced flat iron steak, well prepared to order atop garlic mashed potatoes. Fried peach pie with ice cream for dessert. Yum! Try this place!

We arrived at the Inn late in the afternoon on a dark and cloudy day. My gentleman friend and I had driven along the Lincoln Highway and while the fog and mists that shrouded the pines along the road had been hauntingly lovely, we were more than happy to finally arrive in the quaint town of Historic Bedford. The Inn is tucked in along the main street, within easy walking distance of shops, taverns and restaurants. We were excited as we pushed open the large front door and entered the festive front hall of the Inn. It did take a few minutes before we were greeted, as there isn’t a clear«front desk» area. The owner of the Inn had been downstairs, tending to the bar, which gave us a chance to poke our heads into the dining area and admire the tall, twinkling Christmas tree. After checking in the owner, Tom, led us up to our room and along the way pointed out the hutch that the morning coffee would be served from, as well as an additional entrance from which we could come and go. We were staying in the Miss Mary Espy room and we were pleased to find that the room was clean and cozy. The small writing desk held some treats for us too; caramel and sea salt popcorn from the local Bedford Candies and a trio of cold bottled waters, as well a host of information about the town and the Inn itself. We relaxed for a few hours before heading out into the town and spending the majority of the evening the Pub downstairs. In the morning I awoke to the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the promise of a complimentary breakfast in the dining room on the main floor. We headed down into the bright, sunny morning and found a sweet little table. I wasn’t sure what to expect as there is no menu but I was up for the adventure. We were quickly served juice and water and coffee in china with saucers. A fresh fruit cocktail followed our drinks and it wasn’t long before our waitress came out bearing plates of gingerbread pancakes, vegetable frittata, crisp bacon and savory sausages. I enjoyed every single bite of our meal and was as happy as I could be. The Golden Eagle Inn is romantic and full of character. The staff is friendly and attentive and there are easily ten different types of floral wallpaper that are absolutely charming. The only reason I didn’t give the Inn five stars is because there were only two pillows and a rather thin blanket on the bed. In the morning we discovered that there were in fact both extra pillows and blankets in the dresser, but it was a little too late as we were headed out the door. Overall though, I highly recommend the Inn and the town of Bedford as a whole!

The Golden Eagle Inn is a white table cloth, nicer restaurant. My friend and I stopped in on a snowy November afternoon looking for lunch on our road trip(we were in jeans and had just pushed our car up a slushy hill). Nevertheless, our waitress was friendly, and we were seated quickly. I chose this restaurant because I had read that Grilled Fish Tacos were on their Specials menu on the website so I was disappointed to learn that they only had one daily special(not the tacos) for lunch. I usually make a point to avoid ordering salads at restaurants(it’s rarely worth it), but I couldn’t find anything that appealed to me so I went with the Autumn Salad($ 8) with Roasted Chicken(extra $ 4). I am very glad I added the chicken because I would have otherwise received a pile of very lightly dressed arugula — I don’t use a lot of dressing, but I couldn’t taste any dressing on 95% of my salad — with four very small pieces of butternut squash. The chicken was moist and flavorful, but the dish was so disappointing and definitely not worth the amount they are charging. It’s worth mentioning that my friend did enjoy his Short Rib Macaroni and Cheese. ATMOSPHERE: 4⁄5 SERVICE: 4⁄5 FOOD: 2⁄5 VALUE: 3⁄5 OVERALL: 3⁄5

We went to the pub last evening. Granted it was a Saturday night. It took 45 minutes to get our drink order. No silverware, no salt and pepper on any of the tables. I had to ask for all of that. I had to continually flag down the waiter for what we needed. Bartender/owner also seemed oblivious to the patrons at the table. Chatting it up with those at the bar. Again, took forever to get our drinks and others at the tables looked equally frustrated. That being said, the food was phenomenal! I will return just for the food. I would advise this place but not if you are in a hurry, particularly on the weekends.

We are staying at the omni and wanted to eat off the grounds for a night. We came here for lunch and my wife had a meatloaf sand which to die for and I had a solid Cuban. We came back for dinner and while much of the menu was the same it was also fantastic, the steak was great. Small simple menu but well executed. Try it!!!

Fantastic atmosphere tables aren’t to close plenty of personal space for private conversation. Waitress was very sweet and helpful even though she said it was only her second day Had oysters appetizer, fried but breading was so light and the oysters weren’t over cooked . My friend had fish tacos… Recommended by our server, Seana, they were Yummy ! She was surprised there were TWO tacos on the plate, she was expecting only one. Nice portions . Second trip was just as good. Had blackened shrimp. Again not over cooked — perfect. And our server Misty suggested a wine that was perfect too. Every time someone wants to have lunch dinner or a drink with me –Golden Eagle is where I take them. Oh yeah… Pineapple Beer on tap in the pub! Don’t knock it till you try it .!

Can’t say enough good things about the Golden Eagle inn. Clean beautiful friendly and the food… Ah yessssss– the food! The chef here is young, talented, and passionate. Folks — that’s a great combination. About halfway between Pitt and phila, it’s the perfect stopover if you want to cut the trip in two. When it comes to B&B’s, the Golden Eagle soars. This place is a keeper.

Had a fantastic meal here. Was initially impressed by the old-fashioned charm of the restaurant, albeit a little nervous that the restaurant was empty at dinner time. Despite the quiet environment, the food was superb. Most of my party got the hanger steak — which was seasoned nicely cooked to perfection — and one chicken piccata –which moist and flavorful. The sides were also delish. After our main dish, we were excited to continue trying their delightful dishes and got the flourless chocolate cake that was one of the best I’ve ever had. The waitress was very nice although seemed somewhat new to the job. Overall, lovely experience and would certainly go back and recommend to others.

My husband and I just left the Golden Eagle Inn Restaurant and can’t stop raving about it! Our food was phenomenal… compliments to the chef! I enjoyed a Chicken Piccata and my husband had the Pork Chop. Both served over mashed potatoes. We had a late reservation, so we weren’t surprised that two menu items were not available but the replacement of chicken piccata instead of chicken porchetta was excellent!!! The chicken was breaded perfectly and so tender. My husband’s pork chop was nicely done with a bacon Brussels sprout on top. And for dessert, we shared flourless chocolate cake which needs no explanation. Our server was great! I wish I knew her name to put on this review but I imagine all of the servers are great. Ambiance is very comfortable and inviting.

I have dined at the Golden Eagle Inn for lunch and dinner several times and it is fantastic! I have been to a lot of great restaurants around the US so I definitely know a good restaurant when I see one. The service was wonderful and the owners Tom & Mary Jane were very attentive and check with our table and all the others around us to see how everything was. Every time I come to town I eat here because their specials are always changing and never disappoint! I also want to add that the brunch if fabulous as well!!! Great job guys!

Food was overly salted. I ordered Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was served with the shells on; I have never eaten shrimp and grits with the shells on. It was very messy to eat and I should have sent it back and ordered something else. I don’t go to fine dining restaurants to eat with my hands. We won’t go back.

Half way through our first meal at Oralee’s my wife said what I was thinking«I’ve found our new favorite restaurant.» Every meal we have had here has been superb from the mandarin orange salad to the buttermilk pie. Choosing a favorite dish is like choosing a favorite child … it can’t be done because everything is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and professional which is becoming harder to find these days.
