We came here months ago and we’re not impressed. Tonight they have a local«wine walk», so give it another try. We were very pleasantly surprised at the wine walk offering. Of all the businesses participating they have a two ounce pour for each wine. When compared to other restaurants who are involved this is a great bonus and got us to stay for a light meal at least Our previous experience here we discovered most of the sushi is farm raised and at least to me lacks the flavor of a high end sushi diner. We were told to ask for the wild caught menu… which we did, but our server had no idea what was wild, so I pulled out my iphone to show her the menu and she left to check. The bad; Happy hour appetizers are not on menu items, but basic tuna or salmon with rice and Nuri, this is not a Happy hour deal, just a low grade item made just for happy hour. What is even worse is there is nothing served with the roll, no ginger, no wasabi. If you don’t ask for it, you will not get any. Did I read this is an upscale sushi restaurant? Finally after more than 35 minutes, despite only about a third of the restaurant occupied, I received the wild caught scallop niguri. They were very good and fresh… but nothing more than the rice/wrap and a sloppily cut scallop on top. I probably have better knife skills and creativity.

Wow, the sushi is top notch. Kirin on tap! I enjoyed it so much, I came again two days later. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot part of the order and disappeared for 20 minutes, so only 4 stars today.

Good food and good prices! Some of the rolls seem more expensive but they are full of yummy ingredients. The Hawaiian Sunset Roll was the tallest sushi roll we had ever had. Delicious! Definitely stop by and have a few rolls.

First of all, the food is delicious! And that’s why you go to a restaurant. The staff is knowledgeable and knew the menu. But I can not give it 5 stars because of the extra minor annoyances. –the music playing was HORRIBLE! Top 20 Pop. –no honey allowed with the hot green tea(the waiter said he did it once and got yelled at for it) –no wasabi and ginger served with the sushi(we had to ask for it) Other than that, it was good. Nice atmosphere and the food is really, really good.

My husband brought me here for our wedding anniversary. He had a reservation but a table was not ready for us on time. We waited about 10 minutes and the table they wanted to put us at was behind the hostess station cramped in the corner at a high-top table for two. Not only would I not feel comfortable in this location, we are avid sushi-lovers and enjoy taking our time, relaxing, and ordering multiple plates(especially on such a special occasion). I explained that it was our anniversary and they said we could wait for another table. It was another 15 minutes before they had another table for us(they continued to seat other walk-ins a nice tables like booths) and the table they showed us to was right by the door(it was freezing that night). I was not happy, I was hangry by the point, and the delay was burning into my babysitter’s time so we just took that table. The food was delicious. I wished we could have tried everything on the menu. The prices weren’t too bad either and the quality of fish was very good. The service was slow, though. Our waiter went missing multiple times. He was nice though and gave us samples of sake because we weren’t sure which ones we wanted to order. I thought that was a nice touch of exceptional customer service. We’ll be back.

I’m new to the Austin area and have been looking for good sushi that isn’t too far away. This will be my go-to place, unless I find something better. The quality of the fish here is excellent. I have had sashimi, rolls, and edamame. Everything that I tasted was delicious! The service can be a bit slow, even though it was not particularly busy either time that I came. But I will continue to come back for the tasty food.

Pleasant surprise. First time diner. The atmosphere was calm and warm; so was the sake. Sashimi was flavorful and generous. I really liked the sautéed veggies and green tea ice cream; free on my birthday(or yours). Our server was informed, pleasant and paid attention. I highly recommend Tadashi. View of the movie goers; excellent for dinner and a movie.

Great food! Below average service. Brought out appetizers after entrees, never brought plates to eat off of, never refilled wine, did not clear the table, had to ask for the bill twice. Staff had plenty of time to stand around and clean glasses, not enough time to take care of customers. Really disappointing considering how good the food is.

Not a bad sushi spot. There happy hour menu is pretty sweet. The have unique presentation for some of the dry saki. It’s served in a shot glass which is in a small wooden box filled with saki. I enjoyed that! The sushi is really good quality as well. Not quite 5 star but pretty damn close. Going to try a lot more items before I really form an opinion. So far so good!

These people giving 5 Star Reviews must be out of their mind. I’ve never been to such a terrible«upscale restaurant» in my life. On second thought I wouldn’t even consider this much of upscale. Either way the amount of things that were awful that stood out to me on my dining experience here is ludicrous. I made a reservation online and we arrived a little early, so there was no table for us. I asked if it was possible to get a call or text when our table was ready so we could stroll the shops near by. We got a text about the time of our reservation. The restaurant was fairly busy that night. It took quite a bit of time for our server to come grab drink orders from us. We ordered water and a beer in the bottle. Some how he managed to get the order as a draft and told us we should just drink that one and he would get us a bottle after we finished the draft. The first dish we got was the Agadashi tofu. He brought no plates with the dish so we could share. I asked him for plates and he said he had to go find some and hoped he could find some. Took him about 5 – 10 minutes to «find» plates. That is absolutely crazy to me, that he had to go find some, it’s a restaurant that serves food… that should have plates. Any ways, the dish was awful, it was the most bland, tasteless Agadashi tofu I have ever eaten. There was no flavor to it what so ever. I even split my tofu and let it sit in the sauce for a little to absorb some flavor, and that still didn’t help. Our soy sauce bottle was empty so I placed it with the open cap on the edge of our table for our server or any employee actually to notice that it was empty. Multiple people who even brought dishes to our table or walked by didn’t notice. When our server finally came back to take orders I let him know and he had to go get help filling it… I even asked once during our dinner if they had anything besides low sodium soy sauce, and he said the kitchen cooked with it and it’s in a barrel back there he might be able to get me some. Never came back with any soy sauce, and I’m sure they do not cook with it with the lack of taste and flavor on their dishes. My friend ordered the $ 40 sushi chef special and I ordered the Bento box, but the bento box came out much after the sushi dish did, so I was waiting for quite a while without food. It seemed the items were fairly cold in my bento box anyways. I’m pretty sure our server forgot to put in our Kushiyaki orders because those came out basically at the end of our meal. In addition to they were also cold as well. The weird thing was the bacon wrapped asparagus was on a skewer, but the asparagus I guess had fallen out of the skewer and was just shoved somewhere on the dish… I also asked for more rice and I was told the restaurant was out of rice and there was only brown rice if I would like some. Which is strange for a sushi restaurant to be out of rice. I asked for the brown rice anyways and that took quite a bit of time to bring out, but it was hot at least, so I guess it was made fresh. We ordered mochi and it was absolutely the worse mochi I have ever eaten. It was old and tasted like it had freezer burn. It was disgusting I had to spit it out because it was so terrible. I’ve had better mochi coming from the grocery freezer! Overall the worse $ 140 I’ve ever spent! I would never recommend it or return. I’m shocked they even have business and are rated so high. What a disaster for a restaurant.

Possibly the best Sushi I have had! The cost is reasonable and the atmosphere was enjoyable as the place is modern, quite with a lot to choose from for foodie tasters! I even got a freebie when I checked in here! The food presentations were beautifully executed! Enjoyed trying a lot of different things I had not tried before from recommendations from our waiter! Pleasantly surprised and would recommend! We will be back for sure! P

Tadashi has really set itself apart from other west Austin/Bee Cave sushi destinations by providing actual«creations“to compliment the standards of sashimi and nigiri of their top level fish/shellfish. The ultimate presentation was the soft shell crab served in a light tempura batter brought to the table literally standing up on the plate, amid looked like a candelabra! Light sweet and fresh, it really didn’t even need to be dipped in the accompanying sauce. Their new style hirame was outstanding the and the various sashimi we enjoyed made for a great experience.

What? There’s something worth eating at the Hill Country Galleria? And it’s…sushi? Yup, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Some friends guided us to this overlooked gem in the mall. Truth be told, we’ve probably been past it three dozen times and never realized it was there. Food is typical Asian fusion; you’ve got your bento boxes, some rolls, and sushi. All of it is executed at a very high level, with a special nod to the crispy rice appetizer. It was one of the most well executed apps I’ve had in a long time, great flavor, temperature, and textural contrast! The miso soup was also skillfully executed, they nailed just the right amount of salinity. The salmon collar was a completely new dish for me, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a texture similar to pot roast! I don’t have any basis of comparison, but I liked it quite a bit! We only tried one roll, the mango roll… it was deliciously light, like a salad wrapped up in one roll. I’m told the Hot Angel roll is incredible, I’ll make note to try it next time around. As other Unilocalers have noted, the service is impeccable. Some of the most friendly, down-to-Earth servers I’ve ever encountered. They all had such an easy rapport, you would think we had been small town friends forever. Tadashi is really, really impressive. So much so that we bought a gift card on our very first visit. Ostensibly it’s meant to be a Christmas present, but we’ll likely spend it ourselves long before the holiday arrives.

Decent sushi place, but inconsistent in terms of quality. I have been to Tadashi’s about 3 – 4 times and have a great deal of praise for the freshness of their sushi and the quality of their service — Josh, one of the waiters there, not only remembered me but also the dishes I like! That said I have to give Tadashi’s extremely low marks for the consistency of their entrees. Twice now I have ordered variations on the bento box and each time, various items have been cold, cool, or room temperature, as if they had been sitting out for an hour or two, sans heat lamp. My latest experience frames this service perfectly. I had just come in from a punishing 8-hour drive from El Paso and was looking forward to a bento box and some sushi. Again, the sushi was passable, while the bento box was simply dreadful; cold and mushy tempura veggies and warmed-over teriyaki chicken. While the manager was kind enough to discount this one entrée 50%, this was not a worthwhile plate for $ 10 let alone $ 21. Frankly, there are better options available for sushi in this area and I’m not sure that I will be back for another try. If I am, I will update this review accordingly.

This spot is really delish. Fish is incredibly fresh and rolls are creative, bright and varied. I’d have to say, this is my favorite classic sushi restaurant in Austin. Our server, Michael, was just perfect. He was attentive without being overbearing, he gave suggestions and explained each beautiful roll as it arrived. Recommendations– — Hot Angel(just right amount of kick, bright and lots layers of flavor) — Peppered Tuna– usually not a huge fan of seared tuna on my rolls, but this was fantastic. Roasted garlic on top took it next level — Voodoo — spicy, nice crunch from the jalapeño, left out the carrots(yeogimasi?) — Rainforest– combination of a nigiri sampler and a roll. Great option to take the quality of the fish.

I’ve been to Tadashi maybe 3 times in the past year and have been happy each time. Generally our after work sushi happy hours in Lakeway consist of rolls and wine at Cho, so I was happy to have something different for a change. The interior of the restaurant is attractive and slightly modern and if you sit by the window, you can watch the movie goers walk by(thrilling, right?). I checked in and got a free edamame appetizer. It was simple and lightly salted. There are about 5 drinks on happy hour and I believe one was a hot sake and another was a cold sake. Then they also had one beer and a red and white wine option. I’m a fan of sake, so I went with the hot sake. The menu doesn’t specify what kind of sake it was, but it was tasty and only $ 4 for a carafe. The rolls on happy hour are the standard philly, spicy, etc. Generally if I go to a sushi restaurant, I don’t really want to order one of the standard rolls that I could get at the grocery store. Although it wasn’t on happy hour, I went ahead and ordered the Red hill tower. It was just a tuna tower, like you can get at certain other sushi restaurants. So delicious! We also ordered an Egyptian roll to share. It was crab, avocado, masago, topped with more crab, and wasabi cream sauce. It was wrapped in what looked like soy paper, but it was pink for some reason. Whatever it was, it was fantastic. Lastly we had a small plate of cold tuna, goat cheese, and yam chips. It was drizzled in some sort of sweet chilli sauce. Just wow. To top it all off, our server was very attentive.

Ordered a sushi sample, miso soup, edamame, plus a few other apps for take out. Bought dinner for 3 people. The cost was $ 90 but figured it would be amazing. Wow! It was terrible. I’m actually blaming Unilocal for this one. They came up #1 and based on best match :(they don’t even rank when it comes to sushi best in class. Hate how Unilocal default to best match. Save your cash and skip this place.

I came here for the first time last Sunday and I must say I had a great experience. Tadeshi has a great and inviting dining décor with outside seating. Great informative and attentive servers, and affordable prices. I had a salmon teriyaki bento box, which came with fried tempura vegetables, a fried shrimp, rice, and 4 California rolls, afew teriyaki chicken pieces, and miso soup. I also ordered the mini scallops appetizers they’re really tiny like $ 5, and last but not least an Egyptian roll, which consists of crab, avocado, and manage. My whole dinner was delectable. Service was was just right, not over the top where you feel it’s invasive. I’m lookin forward to trying the nigiri and sashimi after getting my feet wet.

Awesome service complimented with great food = unstoppable sushi feast. Ordered the following for a Valentine’s dinner: — nabeyaki udon: awesome possum. I liked that they served the shrimp tempura on the side so that it wasn’t soggy. Portion size for price: mehhh — pork katsu bento box: this included seaweed salad, miso soup, about 6 strips of pork katsu(very gingery tasting), a good amount of tempura, 4 or 6 California rolls, rice, some random shrimp skewer things, one popcorn shrimp(lol). Portion size for price: on a scale of 1 to awesome; 7. — edamame: edamame. — sashimi salad: sashimi tasted fresh, and pleased the girl. So… Take my money. Mission accomplished. Portion size for price: it’s a salad so I don’t know. Probably good? — dragon roll: contained remnants of baby dragons from 320 b.c. Just kidding. It had some good eel and not too saucy or sweet like other«Japanese» restaurants. Our host was worried we wouldn’t be able to finish it all. Our host underestimated my evil twin that lives in my belly.
