We’ve been here several times and I have to admit, it’s hit or miss. The quality of meat, while similarly priced to downtown steakhouses, is not up to par. I don’t like the dining room as it is painfully quiet, poorly lit and lacks ambiance. So we choose to dine in the bar area, but I swear our chicken Marsala on the last visit was microwaved as it was pure rubber and the sauce had broken. I think they’d do better by relaxing the vibe a bit and making it more of a gastropub atmosphere and get real steak knives please. The whole spiel about cutting the steak with a butter knife is very 1980s kitschy and my last cut of steak was fatty, so I needed to have a good knife to cut to the good parts. This is definitely choice grade steak instead of prime, but the price doesn’t reflect that. I try to support local businesses, but they need to work on quality, consistency and ambiance. It just has a vibe of small town country place trying to get gussied up for the city folks, and it isn’t quite working.

Had a wonderful experience at the bar the other night. The bartender was very helpful and took excellent care of us. The selections are outstanding and having the appetizers half off during happy hour made everything just that much better. We also enjoyed the half off wine during happy hour(though we really wished there was an alcohol or beer special on happy hour). All in all, we will be recommending this place to all our friends and family. Can’t wait to come back. There’s so many other things on the menu that we want to try. Bonus: The movie theater is right across the street!!! Talk about convenient for date night!

My father and I recently ate here. I didn’t realize it was associated with the one in Bastrop. I didn’t make the connection until I read it on the back of the menu. Oh well we were seated. I don’t have fond memories of the one in Bastrop but wasn’t going to tell my father. It was a Sunday around 7pm and there was a large group in the private dining area an about three other tables with two or four at the table. It appeared the waiters were doing a tag team approach to make sure everyone was happy. This is fine except when they both come at different times asking the same questions. What would you like to drink? Oh the last guy took our drink order. Dad got the wedge, I got the lobster bisque. Both were excellent. We both got the 7 oz filet which were good. They were $ 30 in 2012 in Bastrop and now $ 34 in Bee Caves. For our side we got the Au Gratin Potatoes. These are uneatable. First the amount of cheese on them is unreal. I hope that is why they are so incredibly salty. Cheese has a ton of salt. Hopefully, they aren’t then adding salt to the dish. I took two bites and decided not to take another. WAYTOOMUCH salt! I went back and reread my review from the Bastrop location and had the same complaint. The sides are too salty. Even with out the potatoes I was stuffed and we passed on desert. We were out by 8:30pm. Staff was friendly if not repetitive. Steaks were good. Starters we good. If I came back I may just stick to the starters. The price is too high I believe. I probably won’t be back. Too many other steak houses in Austin and the side content of their food is too high for me. They have Cindy’s next door as they did in Bastrop. It appears they have taken the concept and moved to Bee Caves.

Prices and quality of steaks don’t match. Over priced and they try to fool you by atmosphere. I could have done better sirloin at home. Even my 20 years old son could notice the poor quality of his steak for the price. Two stars because deserts were not too bad. Don’t order steaks here. Go to III forks even when you have to drive more. We are not coming back.

I’m giving it a full 5 stars because of the included customer service from the owners. My husband and I love traditional steakhouses and this was one we would definitely return to!

So I’m adding a star because the service at the bar was very good. They still are pushing the«you only need a butter knife» Bologna, problem is you need a an actual steak knife and the steak knifes are crap. GOBUYREALKNIVESPLEASE!!! It’s not that hard. Steak was good again, wedge was tasty but the actual iceberg lettuce put on my plate was teeny tiny. No biggie worse things happen. They did recognize the mistake and gave me half off the salad so kudos. Probably should of sent it back and got it right but at least they tried. Really want this place to make it, just not sure it will if attention to detail isn’t fixed.

Too bad this place is so dead. It’s kind of nice to have people around you. Anyway– we were seated quickly in a nice booth. The cocktails were mostly whiskey based, so not appealing to me. After a quick glance at the wine list, I was disappointed that there was a terrible selection. I ended up paying $ 17 for a six(more like 5) ounce of cabernet… Fuse, I believe it was. Not great, but much better than the limited and not good other reds that were offered. As we arrived at 6:00, would have been nice if someone mentioned half price happy hour in the dead bar that was beside us! Urgh@!!! I really do not feel like reviewing this place, but I hope it will assist them to be better. Our server was nice, but not at all enthusiastic or interested in his job or us. He rolled his eyes when I asked for a couple of wine tastes :(We shared an uninteresting Caesar salad… Shared a 10 oz. Filet Mignon with the Hasler Brothers steak sauce, along with fried potatoes and mushrooms. Everything was okay, but OMG, was I bored to tears there! Food and service and tiny wine pours were not worth the hefty bill and generous tip we left. Will not be back. MUST leave Lakeway. Dining here really sucks.

We were excited when this restaurant came to the Galleria so wanted it to be successful. The waiter gives a long spiel on the source and quality of the meat, setting your expectation very high. My wife ordered the pork chop and I ordered the rib eye. Pork chop had an over sweet, my wife had to scrape off, the steak was fatty and pretty average. Wine is also very pricey, so you end up with a hefty bill. Expensive, so I would expect better. I will not go back.

Don’t waste your time and more importantly your money on this place. The food is average, service ok, but most importantly the prices are ridiculous for what you get. A $ 12 Manhattan served in a thimble of a glass? Their steaks and side dishes I can make better for a fraction of the cost at home. My advice, make the drive to one of the several better steak houses in the Austin area where spending $ 155 for two steaks, two sides and three drinks will not leave you feeling ripped off. Better yet, get yourself a Costco card and make your own steak house dinner. Note: I only gave 1 star because of the extremely high cost of the average meal and dining experience I had. If the cost was half of what I spent then this would be a 3 star review.

My wife and I had a great experience. She had the Chicken Marsala and loved it and I had the Filet Mignon and it was the best I have had in Austin! Our waiter Collen was great! I highly recommend this place for a nice and friendly dinner.

Had a fabulous dining experience last night with friends. Great wait staff. My wedge salad was perfect with right amount of dressing. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection. Husband and friends had sea bass and pork chop. We cleaned all of our plates. Bananas foster took a little time to prepare but worth the wait. Colin our waiter was awesome. Can’t wait to go back. Elegant décor with big booths but men were comfortable wearing their dress shorts and collared shirts.

Everyone at our table tonight said their dish was the best ever. Filet was incredible, with bernaise sauce, sea bass was beautiful mild and flakey with an incredible lemon butter sauce on a bed of lettuce, pork chop was«as good as I cook at home on my egg» according to Charles. And side of crab Mac and Cheese was ridiculous. Highly recommended!

Happy Hour Review: ***Only available in bar area; Monday thru Friday 5 – 7: ½ off all apps and ½ off select wines by the glass or bottle. Located in the Hill Country Galleria, I have no idea why I had never been to Hasler’s before(thought I had knocked out all dining options in the area). So glad to have«discovered» the steakhouse. I definitely want to return for a full meal and see if the steak actually lives up to the fantastic apps my husband and I shared. The spot: Small, well-lit bar area. Space for 5 or 6 at bar and maybe 52+ top bar tables. The restaurant side was dark, romantic… pull out that flashlight on your cell phone dark.
The drink: Wasn’t really feeling wine, so V&S for me and two draft craft beers for the hubby. The food: Crab Stuffed Mushrooms with Mornay sauce: three large white mushrooms and one jumbo one; made cook/texture different from smaller to large. Not sure why they don’t attempt to use more inform ‘shrooms, but not really an issue. Came out piping hot and were tasty to boot. Hasler’s «Award Winning»(don’t know when or from whom) Bruschetta: seared bread(with blackened edges — I know it sounds strange or accidentally burnt, but I though the char added a nice touch of flavor) topped with fresh diced tomatoes, balsamic, EVOO, and a smear of garlic aioli. Large portion, great to share. [Can add shrimp or crab for an extra $ 2 or $ 4, repsctively). Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes: Oh wow! Seriously some of the very best crab cakes I have ever had — earned them the solid 4 star rating that would’ve have been more of a 3 – 3.5 due to service(see below). Two hockey puck sized perfect patties that were LOADED with crab, minuscule bread crumbs inside — don’t know what they used as a binding agent?! It’s as if they formed the cakes with the slightest spice(let the crab be the rock star!) and then lightly rolled them in crumbs before baking — not even a hint of grease. The cakes were served on top of a creamy white wine sauce(whoa salty, so use a light hand when/if dipping) and garnished with briny capers and diced tomatoes. With the exception of the over-salted sauce, a very well-balanced dish and quite the bang for your buck! The service: Very nice, professional, and… apologetic. The bartender seemed very flustered. Two of the three apps were delivered at room temp — obviously had set in the pass for a while. In his defense, he didn’t have any help, but it was obvious he couldn’t handle the three 2-top tables and the 2 couples sitting at the bar while still having to prepare drinks for the restaurant(most of which was just pouring glasses of wine). Hmm… Overall: Heck yeah! All the above made for a nice light dinner for 2, a mere ~40 bucks plus tip! «I’ll be back.» [145 in 2015]

I had high expectations based on other reviews but perhaps we caught them on a night(Sunday evening) when the B team was on duty. I started with the lobster bisque and really enjoyed it. I’d give it an 8 out of 10. My wife had the bruschetta, and absolutely loved it. I ordered the Wagyu bone-in ribeye, to be cooked medium. I have to say, I was underwhelmed for several reasons. The steak was cooked to a heavy char on the outside while quite rare, almost raw, on the inside. Cooking a steak to a proper temperature is Steakhouse 101. As to the meat itself, it was no more tender or flavorful than a steak I could grill at home. In fact, the char overpowered the flavor of the meat itself. I figured that perhaps their signature Hasler Brothers sauce might save the day. It did help, but in a very modest way. I normally would have made a fuss or asked to speak to the manager but my wife was treating me for our anniversary and I didn’t want to spoil the evening for her. The good new is that the portion was large and having it cooked rare will make reheating the leftovers a little less dicey. I think I’ll stick with what I consider my «gold standard» for steak and seafood in Austin, Eddie V’s.

Came in tonight after a movie across the way. Walked in at the end of happy hour and asked the hostess to seat us at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the Madison who seemed very busy. She explained it would be a few minutes which was fine b/c we really wanted to check out the menus. When Madison got caught up, she answered our questions with confidence and knowledge. She placed our Cheese Board order and set about making our drinks. My friend ordered the Old Fashioned and Madison’s technique was perfect. She understood the whole process and made a great drink. I had a Scotch neat and quizzed her about Whiskeys and Scotches and Ports whilst she worked. She is a fine bartender indeed. The Cheese Board took a bit longer than would normally be expected, and I could tell she was frustrated about it. We were in no hurry and her apology was more than adequate. When it arrived it was well worth the wait. What more, she acknowledged that we arrived before happy hour and let us know that she had our tab manually adjusted to reflect the correct pricing. That was the perfect touch and our tip should have more than reflected our appreciation. We really did enjoy ourselves and I look forward to returning for dinner. The professionalism shown to us tonight made a real impression. 5 well earned stars!

The service was fantastic! The owner was very nice. He came up to our table and introduced himself and made sure everything was great with our meal! All in all, love this place! I would recommend this place!

Hasler Brothers is amazing! My wife and I heard it was«pricey» but we are always looking for great food in the Hill Country and we weren’t disappointed. For those folks who go to a high-end steakhouse and aren’t prepared to spend $ 200+ may want to rethink they’re financial position and consider going to a franchise steakhouse. They will be cheaper but not much and food and ambiance is definitely not the same quality. We were able to enjoy a great bone-in ribeye and a nice bottle of wine for about $ 200. The table next to us ordered two $ 85 dollars steaks and a $ 1200 bottle of wine. We can’t afford that but we also don’t begrudge people who can and we definitely don’t judge Hasler Brothers. We paid for what we could afford and had a fantastic experiance.

Good food and nice ambience, but management will need to make some quick changes if they plan to survive. Service was poor. We went on a Sunday evening, it wasn’t crowded and it took way too long. The wait staff made too many mistakes you shouldn’t see for that level restaurant: not setting the table properly, bringing out side dishes without serving utensils, serving the wrong item to the wrong persons, not keeping the water glass topped off. They didn’t have the wine we ordered and the waitor recommended an alternative that was in the same price range, but the bottle was a newer vintage than was on the menu which I pointed out to him, they should have offered a slightly nicer bottle at the same price. Prices are just too high. The steak was tasty and we enjoyed the food, but just too much for a diner for two to make this a regular place to go.
