First off, Kuru Kuru offers sesame seed balls which other sushi places don’t have and they make a nice dessert. The sushi itself is of a somewhat small selection, but in terms of quality it is rather consistent and is alright. However: One, the size is absolutely small, if you want to come at any decent time you’ll have to wait for half an hour or so. Sometimes the staff offers edamame to the people who wait. Come if you’re patient and not in a rush for dinner. Two, special-ordering something could go a lot smoother. I’ve once ordered fried octopus balls, only to have a waitress tell me that they didn’t offer that, but had fried squid. And then I got fried octopus balls AND fried squid after a long, long wait. They arrived long after me and my friends stopped eating. Come if you want sushi, but only if you’re willing to be very patient.

Deliciousness! It was a little busy and its tight space so it was a little crowded. But the sushi is delicious and very affordable. They have great dessert options as well. The staff was nice even though it was hectic when we went so they didn’t get to us very quickly. I love the conveyor belt style sushi train made it easy to see everything and choose for ourselves.

I love this place, it is small and can be very busy on the weekends, but well worth the wait! Make sure and order a fancy banana for desert!

Kuru Kuru is the best. So much food for so little money. You MUST try a Lion King or Baked Scallop. You will not regret it.

My review might be biased in a negative way because I’m not really a big fan of belt sushi. The reason being, I’m kind of picky about sushi and like to know exactly what I’m getting inside my sushi rolls before I select them(sometimes it’s hard to tell on the belt). But I’ve been here enough times to form an opinion about this place now, and I do like this place for a few reasons. One, their sushi is actually good. It didn’t blow me away, I wasn’t totally wowed, and I don’t think it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had, but it’s good. Two, you can order separately and have anything off their menu be made for you, if you don’t see anything you like on the belt. Third, the service is always very good. The servers are attentive and the wait is very short even if you wait for an order. Lastly, it’s very affordable, and a good place to come if you don’t have a lot of time(or money) to spend.

Writing this review is dangerous right now, because I am hungry and I know they are not open!!! Oh… the pain!!! On a more serious note, this is BYFAR my FAVORITE sushi place in all of Bellingham, and possibly the whole world!!! I go on average of about once every other month, and would go more if it were open on Sunday. I love that the food is fresh, delicious, and in my price range! I have gone to almost all of the sushi places in Bellingham now, and this is the only one I tend to go back to over and over and over again! Can’t wait to go back again, hopefully soon!

We’re frequent kuru kuru go-ers! My hubby and I are there at least once a week. The sushi is delicious, very good prices and so much variety! If you don’t see what you like, you’re easily able to order some. It’s so much fun to be able to pick and choose different things, and explore sushi variety. The deep fried California roll is my favorite! Here comes the… But The last few times I’ve gone it’s been considerably busy, but both times the older server, who I’m assuming is the boss has been rude to her workers. There is one aspect of training, yes. But she’s been demeaning to her workers in front of guests just in the last three times we’ve gone. Who knows how much it’s actually happening. The girls seemed stressed for this reason, and I think it’s affecting customer service. Good, cheap sushi is great but atmosphere and people do matter! Hopefully this review helps nudge that along!

I absolutely love sushi and I go at least once a week to different places all around Washington, this was my least favorite place. They have a good selection and the few that I tried were good but they didn’t have many I was interested in.

I’ve always had a good time here however lately ive had awful service. They are open at bad times and when I went at 7:30, and they close at 9pm, they didnt have any sushi on the belt. They only took orders but when I asked the server for something she responded«ill get to you in a minute» and walked away. I just asked for my check and left after sitting there for 35 minutes and only got 3 plates that werent cheesecake. After the waitress finally got tobus, I just asked for the check and she said«sorry we are busy» but the room was half empty and I’ve seen it way busier. There was employees cleaning up and mopping and cleaning off the matts and not helping even get water for folks. I left so disappointed I dont think ill go back.

Great sushi belt place. Plethora of options! Fast turn around time when we ordered, even though the place was full. Definitely coming back here.

I used to like this place. It’s not the best, but it was good. But my last visit was appalling on so many levels. First, I was meeting someone for lunch and there was a wait. As it turned out, the other party couldn’t make it because of traffic. So I’m sitting there peacefully, when I notice a couple of people who walked in getting seated. I mentioned this to the hostess, who immediately informed me of their«policy» of not seating until the other party arrives. Not necessarily a bad thing, but at least let the customer know. I was seated immediately once I told her my party couldn’t make it.(never tell me about your«policy». This is the poorest way of dealing with a customer) Now I’m having a fairly good lunch when I order the softshell crab hand roll. I made it clear that I can’t have cucumber. What I get is a softshell crab, sprouts, avocado and a wad of fake crab. Yuck. I let them know that I don’t want that and they take it back. Now they serve me another hand roll, but without any sprouts or avocado. What’s this about? I told the server who brought the chef. The only thing they could do is tell me they would have to charge me again if they had to replace it a second time. His excuse is I didn’t want cucumber, that’s why they took off the sprouts and avocado. There’s no dealing with this guy, he’s going to charge for another one. I told him that all I needed was the sprouts and avocado and it would all be good. Finally got the sprouts and avocado. But I got charged for 2 servings. This is really poor business. I love Asian food, but when there’s a problem, a lot of these Asian restaurants act like you’re trying to cheat them. This is a pretty common issue. Considering that I paid for an entire roll and only wanted part of it, I think they could have done much better in the preparation and the customer service area. I had to get back to what I was doing so I didn’t have time to fight it out with them. Maybe if they hadn’t been so argumentative they could have turned this around. Back to Asian One, where the quality is first class and the service exceptional.

If you like rolls, Kuru Kuru is your place! The rolls are lovely in appearance, fresh(I watched them mark rolls and pull them off at certain times, replacing them with fresh rolls if needed) and tasty. The price is right, especially when you’re dining with someone who has a big appetite(looking at you, husband!). My issue came when I ordered some fresh Nigiri. The Ahi didn’t taste bad, necessarily… it just didn’t taste like Ahi at all. So I lifted the piece of fish up off my second nigiri and. bingo, pink dye on the rice. Having worked for and with a sushi restaurant in Ogden, I was pretty well educated on fish quality– and that either means its inferior fish(like escolar) masquerading as tuna, or its inferior tuna dyed pink to look fresh. Either way, ick. So, I stick to the rolls if we’re eating here, but honestly — sushi refers to the rice, not the fish. So, I can’t complain about that. Just, if you are a fish snob, Kuru Kuru is not going to be your spot. I’ve yet to find truly impressive nigiri and sashimi quality fish in Bellingham. The hunt continues.

I’m a picky sushi eater having lived in Anchorage where seafood is held to its highest standard. Bellingham, unfortunately, lacks good sushi. I’m about to give up hope and just go to Richmond/Vancouver every time I want sushi. Thank goodness Kuru Kuru was one notch higher than other conveyer belt sushi restaurants I’ve visited. Sushi chefs were constantly putting fresh rolls and appetizers out, although there were a few tired looking plates circulating one too many times. People clearly enjoy this restaurant and its decently priced plates as evident by the 25 minute wait on a Friday night. Would I dine here again? Maybe… 2 stars for sushi/food quality, taste, freshness. 1 star for the pot of pickled ginger on the table.

Yummy sushi! This is my and my husbands favorite lunch spot! The sushi is fresh and delicious! Plus it is a belt sushi, which I find very fun! It is an easy place to go if you are on a time limit, because you can be in and out in a few minutes! My favorite is the Phili rolls yum!:-) my hubby loves the Hawaiian rolls! They also have fried Oreos, which I was a bit spectacle of, but I ended up really enjoying! I really like the atmosphere, and the service is very good! Plus it is very reasonably priced. Each plate of sushi rages from $ 1.50 for yellow plates to $ 3.50 for black plates. You can eat an entire meal with ten dollars! I recommend this place to everyone!:-)

Came here for the first time today. Pros: The sushi was very fresh and I love all the different types that they have and if you don’t see what you want floating around on the belt just ask the server & they will make it for you Cons: small place –literally elbow to elbow with other customers. The servers are not really attentive, instead of checking up on you, you have to scream for them across the room. Other then that I’ll be back. but only for the sushi

I have ridden my fair share of sushi tracks and believe this is one of the best. That said, do not mistake this for high-end, though the quality rivals many apparently high end Japanese joints. For one, they use real crab; that’s rare. The nigiri is generously and skillfully sliced. The rolls are also tastefully plump, creative, and rarely desecrated with cream cheese or other Amurican fillers. Everything seems to be fresh as well(read: no soggy cold tempura bits). The service is friendly and the dockside scene is very nice, especially if you’ve been sucking office air all day. The space is modestly sized, so don’t expect to seat the whole crew in one cabin.

With Kuru Kuru, the phrase«you get what you pay for» fits perfectly. Yes the selection is smaller than most, sometimes the items have been on the belt for awhile, and there isn’t a lot of interaction between you and the servers, but you’re paying one or two bucks for each plate. And being able to spend less than ten dollars and leave with a full stomach, is ideal for someone in college or someone who is looking to save a few bucks. If you already know what kind of sushi you like and don’t mind being in a more customer-independent restaurant then this is the place for you. Make sure to try the mochi ice cream! I had the vanilla and strawberry and they were delicious!

Decent sushi in Bellingham. It’s at a nice location quite close to the waterfront. Service is good and attentive. Much of the rolls contained mayo imitation crab. Maybe the menu is just catering to the local population? Not a personal fave. The salmon and ahi were generously sliced but not as flavorful or as fresh as I would have hoped. I would go back only because it’s in a beautiful setting and with limited sushi choices in the area…

Typical conveyor belt sushi. The variety is a bit minimal, but the quality is good. Not a lot of choices for vegetarians unless you special order it. The prices are decent enough. Note to Disabled: Reasonably accessible, has its own parking lot, however the spaces fill up quickly due to the surrounding businesses. I have actually had to turn around and leave before because I couldn’t find a single space in the entire lot during the dinner rush.

Not bad for the price. But as far as sushi goes… I’ll only eat here cause it’s the right price and the sushi is still decent. Pros? –Cheap –Can order off the menus –Good miso soup Cons? –Not much variety on the belt –Always busy
