Not too shabby :) it’s inside the public market I was looking for it around the building … But just two people working it and they did take really long

I wish I could give this place no stars Being an avid sushi fan I travel all over eating sushi from Japan to Thailand to the west coast. Life found me passing this sushi spot hidden away in a whole food store so I decided to go and check it out . Big mistake . My buddy told me the lady here doesn’t understand English or Japanese and has worked here for years and years, I laughed but he was absolutely right. After ordering she went to the freezer to u thaw out order of unagi and fish. The preparation took about 50 minutes for two rolls. The sushi was larger than bite size(sushi means finger food) and was drenched in sauces hiding the frozen ingredients and horrendous rice. Lovers of sushi looking for something special this is not the place Broke college kid trying to fill ur stomach with a ten dollar roll … Maybe Ull like it. Or if you love drenching sushi in sauce this is the place for u

I rather enjoy Maki Zushi. It’s the only place in town that you can currently get ramen and they do it pretty well. Definitely not the best ramen I’ve ever had, but it gets the job done. The sushi is always tasty and the«special» rolls come in like 12 pieces which gets you a bang for your buck. As other reviewers have said, service is extremely slow, so keep that in mind when visiting, but so long as you have some time to kill, it’s worth the visit. I highly recommend the tonkotsu ramen!

This place is great for the price. Instead of «refined» portions, you get a big roll with generous filling. These are large portions for a good price. The menu isn’t huge, but it’s more than enough choice. Take the big eaters to this place so you don’t spend a hundred bucks on a meal.

The biggest bang for you buck sushi wise in Bellingham. Really generous portions for an extremely low price. I also recommend their Gyoza!

Now I’m not a sushi expert, nor have I eaten at many sushi places, but I really love this place. First their sushi is delicious, it’s always fresh and they have a good assortment on their menu. The miso soup is pretty yummy too. Second, the amount you get for what you pay is impressive. I always forget how big their rolls are, and end up ordering two(one is more than enough.) the service is slow, but always friendly. Like a person said before, this is a two man operation. Altogether, my favorite sushi place!!!

I’ve said, «Good God» to you before, Lemon, but I’ve never really meant it until now. GOODGOD. This is the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. I would have never come here except that every other sushi place in Bellingham was closed, and Urban Spoon kept telling me to come here. I walked into the Public Market and ordered three rolls to share with a friend, and the look of food-gasm on his face must have mirrored my own when first the Miso, then spicy salmon crunch, then spicy tuna, then rainbow roll surpassed our wildest expectations. We’ve been to every sushi place in Bellingham, and we’re never coming anywhere else ever again. Ever. The ambiance is quiet and casual, the price is perfect, and the ingredients are insanely good. I can’t even. I. CAN’T. EVEN.

I really wanted to like this place, but I find very little appealing about their sushi. In fact, I’m hoping I didn’t just take in bacteria with the few pieces I stomached. Cons only(sorry) –Their salmon roll was not even fish– not really. They mashed up the fish to the consistency of fake mashed potatoes… It was not only slimy and had no fish consistency, but it smelled fishy. Fish should NOT smell fishy. –The lettuce in the roll(why?) was not fresh –Unpleasant service Sad :( I wanted to like it but I’ll definitely not be back

I really like this place. I’ve eaten a lot of sushi around the world. New York, Tokyo, Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, etc. This place is not fancy, but they do it right. I’m a big fan of their simple rolls. They use good ingredients and are very consistent. They don’t speak a lot of English, but that adds to the charm. Although, you do have to be careful when ordering, because of that. Their miso soup is also quite satisfying. Well worth the $ 1.25. I’ve never had their ‘fancy’ rolls, so I can’t comment on them. I know what I like, and they have it. Do be careful because they can be slow during the lunch rush.

Delicious sushi, however they tend to be very slow. Very good prices though, I come here frequently when I have some time on my hands.

Not authentic. Everything is covered in sauces and masks flavor. Or, is that what they are trying to do? What are they hiding… Not having enough authentic sushi here in town makes me want to cry.

Outstanding flavor, presentation and freshness. Out of Ramen until Monday. Eel Maki and Alaska roll are HUGE. Miso soup perfect with loads of seaweed. If it had ambience it would be a 5

I love Maki Zushi. I have been eating there for years. They make great sushi, with generous portions at affordable prices. Everything I have eaten here is delicious. It is not always very fast, so if you are in a hurry, call ahead. They are a two person operation, so if they get slammed with customers, it can end up being a half hour wait. But give it a try, it is worth it. Make sure you have cash because they do not take plastic or checks.

Best sushi for the best price in Bellingham. Quirky little place that just churns out excellent quality sushi and doesn’t break the bank.

The salmon is fake: tasteless and bright orange. I’ve never had dye from salmon left on my chopsticks before. Totally bummed since salmon is my fave. 85% sure the eel is also fake — I’ve never had to pull bones from any eel and I’ve eaten at many a different sushi joints. And the prices are actually on par with real sushi so clearly not worth the money. Scared to try the tuna — it looks real but so did the eel kind of… I would go to any of the other sushi joints in Bham. The fish their is real.

Excellent affordable maki rolls. Fresh and delightful. Stop by the ATM they are cash only. Located in the public market conveniently near Trapeze and Seven Loaves Pizzeria which are also excellent.

They are some of the biggest rolls I’ve seen. And I’ve seen some big rolls in my day. Best sushi in Bellingham, for sure. Be sure you get a Dragon roll, Alaskan rolls, or something of the sort. One enough for one person and some to share – or one very hungry body. Always really fresh and oily and moist. The seaweed salad is perfect – not too salty at all. One of the few places I continue to go despite how much time it takes.
