Use to be much better, has gone downhill over the last 10 years.

Great place for a quick bite. Daily special is best, a good salad and entrée. Walking distance to quite a few local businesses too.

Food is good but service seriously sucks. No substitutions; really. Just wanted to switch out the white rice for some fried rice but nooo can’t do that. Gotta order an entire side of fried rice for an extra $ 9.00. With so many other good teriyaki around I’ll be going elsewhere from now on.

Pretty sure I got gut rot from this place. AKA as food poisoning! My stomach hurt for two days after eating takeout. Actually still hurts!

Interior is awful. I thought I was eating in a convenient store. Though it was convenient that I could buy a crack pipe at the same time as I ate my teriyaki chicken.

Really good flavored beef teriyaki. It had a nice grilled flavor. The service was fine too. The atmosphere is pretty ecletic, which adds to that local Bellingham feel, thank goodness not another box style restaurant. My son loves teriyaki and as I am not a huge fan of teriyaki, it is nice to find somewhere we both liked. Looking at past reviews, I would have deducted a star if I had deal with homeless people obtaining booze though. That would be a deal breaker if I were attempting to have a meal with my kid.

We happened through town traveling from Harrison Hot springs BC to our home south of Bellingham. My pork teriyaki had as much fat as it did meat and was so salty I had a hard time choking it down. My wifes chicken had gristle and a large piece of bone in it. After we sat down we noticed the place looked dirty. A couple came in to order at 7−15pm and we overheard the cashier ask them if they could take there order to go because they closed at 7 – 30. Don’t recommend the place.

I much prefer Hana Teriyaki to this place. The staff never seem very friendly and the food is just ok. I like my chicken to have more char to it, the flavor here just doesn’t compare. The steamed short grain rice and iceberg salad are like anywhere else. Keep going down the street to Hana for a better and more generous meal.

Plus: whatever oil/coating they put on their tofu is amazing – I wish every place that served tofu would do the same. Minus: Instead of the tiny b/w tv on the counter showing golf, how about an HDTV on the wall showing baseball and football, like the Ginger Boat does? Also, the decision to sell bottles of wine and beer to the public means they’re enabling rampant homeless alcoholism, and every time I’ve been there a homeless guy comes in to buy a bottle of wine to drink in public. That’s not a good way to help downtown businesses thrive, including their own, it has a negative effect on the community, and it makes me not want to go there.

I’m so sad. I used to frequent The Teriyaki Bar a ton back in 03 – 09. Somewhere along the line I heard they changed management. I’ve gone back a few times in the past year and have been disappointed by the service and a food. The final kicker was the other night I was in the hospital and my daughter called see if I wanted anything from the Teriyaki Bar. I told her that I’d love the teriyaki beef. She brought it by and when I finally went to have a few bites, it was SO salty that it actually burned my mouth. I tried moving the beef in with rice, but it was still way too salty. My daughter had salmon and said it was fine. I might give them another chance, but I won’t be ordering the beef.

Best teriyaki in Bellingham. Love the chicken katsu, salmon teriyaki, and miso soup. The owner is always so nice. They have a drive through, which makes it so convenient to call your order in then just pick it up. I love T-Bar!

Came here for lunch with my youth pastor and friend. The store is strange. They sell random stuff in the store, from canned foods to bubba bubbas… While also selling teriyaki. The cashier didn’t seem very enthusiastic, but it’s probably because he was working on Christmas Eve. The food came fairly quickly. The person who brought out the good(I’m guessing the owner) was super kind. The portion was kind of small. Most other teriyaki places give more with the same price. It didn’t taste too shabby though. I kinda liked it. I had the chicken katsu. Overall, I think it’s a strange, but cool place. If I’m around the location and I’m craving teriyaki, I’d definitely come back here.

My wife and I went there and ordered the beef teriyaki listed on their chalkboard as the daily special. The cashier rang us up for 7.95 when the special price was 6.95. We pointed this out to him and he called back to the kitchen that it was the«special.» We asked him what that meant and he said they would make it smaller. Our question: «So, the special isn’t the regular portion at a „special“ price, but rather a smaller portion at a smaller price?» His answer: yes. A bit deceiving, what’s the point of having a special if it all shakes out to the same price per volume. The food was 2 star for teriyaki to boot. Last time we’ll go there.

This is part 2 of my teriyaki tale. My fiancé’ and I were disappointed with Hana Teriyaki, so we went to the Teriyaki Bar. We complained to the guy behind the counter about our experience with Hana. He gave us our food, and it was so delicious! They sprinkle herbs on their fluffy rice, perfect amount of sticky too, their salad was alright, but nothing to rave about. Their chicken and spicy teriyaki though? AWESOME! Chicken for both our dishes was tender, juicy, and oh so flavorful. Very happy with our orders, and no refill charge! We left extremely full, and extremely happy. Good portions too. Thank you Teriyaki Bar for giving us wonderful food! You made our day!

I had to try the teriyaki chicken, of course, and it lived up to my expectations. Certainly not THEBEST because I have a definite favorite, but it was good and the price was decent. It’s a nice enough place to eat in, or you can get takeout. Either way it’s worth checking out.

50 $ to feed the family a quick meal — No kids meals… And to top it all off they never got my daughters order! How often do families go out and not feed 1 kid?!? Rediclious, because of the language barrier I double checked before paying that we had 4 meals. Won’t be back — try banditos burritos across the street instead.

My fave Teryaki joint in town. Nice folks, down to earth place. Good value, lunch specials. I recommend sticking with chicken or veggie, beef isn’t my fave here. Also, they usually have a game on, bonus!

I have a soft spot in my heart for The Teriyaki Bar for three reasons: – My very first PNW-style teriyaki experience happened here. – This was the first restaurant I visited in my favoritest town in WA, Bellingham. – Their mascot is a samurai eagle that kicks huge amounts of ass. The teriyaki isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s quite tasty with an emphasis on grilled taste, the salads are delicious, and the staff are friendly.

My favorite place for teriyaki chicken in town. Inexpensive, big portions and a salad dressing so good I buy it by the bottle to take home. I eat here about once a week and am never disappointed. BONUS: drive-thru window! Call it in and pick it up in 10 minutes and you don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot downtown.
