Have eaten here many times. It has really gone down hill. This is the rainbow roll with salmon and tuna. We tried to turn away this colorless fish but were told they would not exchange it for another roll, and that the fish was fresh not farmed, therefor had no color. This is not fresh wild salmon. Very disappointed and will not be coming back. And we work in Barkley.

Pricey! Friendly service, clean casual layout, good selection of special rolls. Plenty of saki choices but only house wine. They let me add cucumber and creamcheese to my roll which jacked it up to almost $ 16 — The outisde looked like it was completwly covered around in salmon but the actual roll just had a skimpy slice on it and was heavy on the rice. Side salad was pieces of iceberg lettuce with a tasty homemade dressing. Clean and fresh but i felt misled and ripped off.

Two words: Kimchee Udon. Your life will forever change once you try this tasty Udon soup. I’ve been to this place so many times, I’ve lost count. Every single time, I’ve left happy. This is my go-to place for bringing my out-of-town friends who enjoy sushi or teriyaki. Great happy hour deals as well, foodwise. The teriyaki is delectable, the sushi is great quality(I highly recommend the Salmon Skin rolls) and there is a high variety of Asian cuisine to choose from. Very friendly and pleasant staff, I don’t recall ever receiving less than exceptional service! If I had any complaints, the only thing would be the limited beer selection(no draft at all) and lack of spirit selection. Also, the sushi bar section is very tiny, so the best bet is to just take a table. But regardless of that, this place is definitely 5-star worthy. Perfect place for a date night, conveniently located across from the movie theater.

Little Tokyo is wonderfully good. I love to go there. I have an incredibly good Bento box with the rice, oranges a salad and miso soup and don’t forget the teriyaki chicken. Save room for dessert because they have incredibly good mochi ice cream and I think there only $ 1.50. It’s made out of rice cake and ice cream on the inside. Great meals and it is my favorite Japanese restaurant in town!

Came here out of convenience, and it ended up being very good. The waitress was nice and the food was good. It’s a solid restaurant

I have been here a few times for their sushi but this is the first time I got their salmon bento box. I think it’s was pretty good nothing too special. The bento box alone I’d give it 3 stars but I do love the sushi here so 4stars it is! Plus they have friendly servers.

This was legitimately the worst food I’ve ever had in Bellingham. Lived here my entire life & came here today to try it out before a movie. I got the $ 16 Chirashi bowl, b/c i was craving sashimi. I bet if i had something simple like a bento box it wouldn’t have warranted a Unilocal review, but omg the chirashi… it was so terrible… The chef said it would be 10 – 12 pieces of fish, but in reality it was 8 pc fish and 2 pieces of tamago(egg loaf). A couple of the fish pieces tasted okay but there were some that just tasted rotten & I had to spit them out. Keep in mind, I’ve been eating sushi my entire life, both homemade by my Japanese grandmother & at many restaurants both high and low end, and I’m not a picky eater. But this was honestly inedible. I ended up ordering a bowl of plain rice b/c I was hungry and couldn’t afford more than the one meal that I had already splurged on. I don’t know what happened, maybe they just were having a bad day in the kitchen, but gat damn. I’m never going there again…

Another good but not amazing place in Bham for some foods. The sushi was average and the teriyaki was good but pricey. Pros? To go orders were fast and organized Rainbow roll is delicious but could use more fish! Spicy chicken teriyaki uses good quality chicken as far as teriyaki goes! Clean interior Friendly staff Cons? The fact that they aren’t busy ever is a bit odd Overpriced

Poorly prepared sushi. Mediocre, but edible, teriyaki and noodles. Overpriced. Server never refilled our water. One of my party got their sushi at separate times: once after the rest of the table had started on their food, the rest when we were nearly finished. It’s amazing that restaurants like this can survive.

Amazing find in Bellingham. Great portion sizes, reasonable price and a great small business feel. Appreciate the great service from Kelleen on the early afternoon of January 20th. Highly recommend this great restauraunt.

It’s a good place don’t get me wrong, staff is very polite and helpful sushi is reasonable price, especially at happy hour, but the sushi is very run of the mill. It’s not bad but it’s nothing special, the have switched a few menu items around this last year, and have switched my favorite dish(calamari) from baby squid tenticles, to squid rings. They are good and buttery but no longer unique and give me a fast foody vibe. The egg rolls we got tonight though are why I dropped them from a usual 4 for me to a 3. They tasted like cigarettes. Literally. My wife and I ate 1 bite each and where appalled. Luckily the waitress took them back and we had them removed from our order. Even the waitress thought it was gross. If you go stay away from egg rolls spring rolls and anything close, save yourself money and get some frozen ones from haggen, they will be better

Came here for lunch today around 2pm to get happy hour(2−5pm) prices. We had Takoyaki which were pretty darn tasty! Octopus was a little over cooked and sparse but the flavor and presentation were on point. We also had the gyoza. Store bought but cooked nicely, good crispness. Finally we split the Torch Roll. Fish was nice, rice was good. Ordered some eel sauce on the side because it was pretty spicy. Over all pretty darn good. One of the only places in Bellingham to get Takoyaki so I’ll be back for that at least.

A good place for lunch in the Barkley Village area. Service is fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. The Chicken Katsu lunch special is one of my favorites. The outside dining is nice if the weather is permitting.

I’ve never been disappointed by Little Tokyo. Compared to places you’ll find in Seattle it’s not amazing but for Bellingham it’s one of the best options we have though a bit pricey. It’ll definitely satisfy your sushi cravings though. I’d suggest hitting them during happy hour(I think 2 – 5 mon-sat) as the prices are a bit better. Staff is super friendly and quick, the place is clean and during the summer I believe they have some outdoor seating.

Little Tokyo has got to be one of my favorite sushi places in Bellingham. The happy hour is pretty decent(albeit you have to buy a drink), the fish is always fresh and the service is usually pretty good. The chirashi bowl and crispy spicy tuna sushi roll thingy have gotten considerably smaller over the last few months, which makes me a little sad, but it doesn’t bother me all that much. The eel sauce is a little gritty, which freaks me out a bit, but that’s alright too. The lunch specials are a pretty good deal, particularly if you like nigiri. I usually get a spicy salmon roll with the special which I LOVE, but they’ve moved away from making the actual roll spicy to just putting some spicy mayo under it, which is not as appetizing. All in all, pretty good!

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Bellingham. I’ve only ever ordered the sushi there and have never been disappointed. Only thing is that it’s a little more pricey than other places but I think it’s worth it. My favorite is the Washington Roll. I’ve never had anything else there but my sister(who is a very picky eater) says they have the best teriyaki she had ever had.

I want to start out and say; This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in bellingham. The owners have changed about 4 months ago and the new owner has made a few changes. There is no longer a happy hour on Wednesday. And The sushi is now made inside the kitchen, leaving the freshness and quality of the fish to imagination. Most of the sushi rolls remain the same, but some of the sauces have been altered and removed leaving the taste inconsistent. I recommend waiting a year or two before eating here again until the new owners figure out what kind of tastes they want to sell. That is all.

Under new ownership just recently. Payed a visit on dollar sushi night and was disappointed. The pieces of fish have been greatly reduced in size under and the quality was not up to par. Oh, the sushi bar is no long where they prepare the sushi either. Sorry to see Chue sold the place.

Yet another Asian style restaurant that has captured my attention. Little Tokyo of Bellingham is one of those Japanese-themed restaurants serving classic and contemporary Japanese food with a modern twist, and accompanied by Korean twists. The teriyaki bentos is affordable, filling, and food quality is superb. The tempura platter is brimming with unique veggies deep fried to perfection. A unique favorite of mine is the collection of Japanese street foods such as takoyaki(octopus stuff dough balls), yakitori(skewered meats), and gyoza(dumplings). Many of the dishes are served with rice, miso soup, and a small salad with sesame asian dressing… so be prepared to be stuffed silly. For those not so hungry, Little Tokyo also serves modern twists on sushi, but I often find their sushi covered with too much sauce sometimes. Simply ask for less in case you notice as well. The Korean Bibimbap and kimchi is also a go to favorite fo those in the mood for a Korean dish experience. To too it off, the servers are awesome! Very friendly and accomodating, the restaurant is clean, comfortable, and has a homey vibe. Enjoy your visit at Little Tokyo!

The service is exceptional and the sushi chefs are so darn nice! I have gone to 4 other sushi restaurants(so far) to compare their caterpillar rolls to Little Tokyo’s and Little Tokyo beats the others every time! The tempura is darn good too! So crisp and light with the tastiest dipping sauce! Total comfort food! Oh yeah, and sometimes I hear the wonderful music from the Studio Ghibli movies! Love it! I noticed many other comments complained about the price. I believe the price reflects the great service you receive and skilled sushi chefs making your food. Also– to the gentleman complaining about the not-so-great Korean food served here.. . Really? It’s called Little Tokyo, not Little Seoul. Doi.
