The Harmonious Life

Holy cow, I really hate doing this but I just had the most horrendous and unprofessional phone experience with whoever answered my call.
I am in San Francisco and was looking through Unilocal to book a massage for my girlfriend who is heading to Bellingham to attend her Dad’s funeral. (But please don’t let that tug at your heartstrings. This review will stand on its own.)
The phone rang a number of times (maybe 4 or 5 rings?) then I thought that I somehow mis-​dialed so I hung up and double checked the business listing. Turns out I had it correct so I re-​dialed. After a few rings a woman’s agitated voice said «this had better be good. I rejected your call for a reason.» I was a little shocked and thought it might be a joke. Who would answer a business line like that?!
I stammered and explained that I had no idea the first call was rejected. I had hung up on my own accord. The woman’s reply was abrasive. She said she was about to do a session as if I could possibly know this. I asked curiously «then why didn’t you shut your phone off?» Much preferred to an angry person. I Don’t recall her response but the tone remained shockingly unfriendly. I said I was just calling to book a massage. Maybe I should call someplace else. «Yeah, you do that.» Wow.
I run my own small business and things get pretty hectic with some frequency but no matter what kind of day I am having I would never answer the phone like that. Furthermore, as a massage therapist I wonder what kind of energy she is carrying into her sessions. I sure hope the client was not in earshot of our conversation.

I’m so glad I found Cathy! I’ve been a client since last summer, I had been looking for a quality massage therapist for a while. I moved to this area several years ago and had been traveling back to NH to see my previous therapist but she moved further north and it became too much. I tried several other local therapists but Cathy is by far the BEST. She does great work and I always leave feeling great! I highly recommend you make and appointment.

Catherine is personable, professional, and most importantly — gives an amazing experience while you’re there. She goes above and beyond and gives recommendations and is so good at relieving tension in your most problematic areas. Talk to Catherine, be open and honest, and you’ll be more than satisfied with your visit.

I have been going to Cathy for over a year now and she is the BEST massage therapist I have ever been to. I broke my back 3 years ago and have been through back surgery, hip surgery, physical therapy, cortisone shots, nerve blocks, pain management and nothing has ever managed to help my pain. When I leave Cathy, I feel like I am walking on a cloud. She is able to pinpoint all my problem areas without me saying a word and she works on every muscle that needs work and gets to the root of the problem with ease. She is extremely knowledgeable on how each muscle connects and even when you think a problem is coming from where your pain is, she works on another muscle that is ACTUALLY causing the pain that you didn’t even know existed! Coming from someone who lives with pain every day, this woman is a COMPLETE blessing! I HIGHLY recommend you make an appointment with her. Not only is she talented at her craft, but she is very personable, caring and considerate and makes the entire experience very comfortable and enjoyable.

Went to see Catherine over the weekend. Location is easy to find, but hard to notice if you’re simply driving by. Her setup is very professional and clean. She takes the time to determine where, if any, your trouble spots are. The massage table is heated, which is always a plus in the cold weather. I went with the 1 hour Swedish massage. Was zoned out and almost asleep several times during the massage, which is a huge compliment to her. Looking forward to my next visit, as I am still relaxed the day after I went. Giver her a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I called Catherine when I spotted the Unilocal deal and got a message done two days later. She did exactly what I told her I needed, it was very relaxing and she was very personable. She was also available around my schedule on a Saturday (I have two kids so that is important because something always comes up). Catherine was wonderful! You don’t even need the Unilocal deal if you are a first time customer the massage is $ 50! :)

The Harmonious Life is my go-​to place for massage whenever I’m in town. Catherine is a fantastic therapist, very responsive to my specific needs, without causing injury. I need deep work, yet I’m very sensitive so a therapist has to work very slowly for my body to relax enough. Catherine excels at this and sessions with her are very effective, relaxing as well. Her space is calming, tasteful, a safe haven. I find Catherine to be very flexible, and always cheerful. I highly recommend The Harmonious Life to anyone looking for a fantastic massage with results!
