Everything you have heard is true. Expect a wait, get there early, and have a great time. No frills… Good food… Great prices. Put the Bluebird on your to-do list.

I feel dumb for living around the corner and not knowing about the steaks here! I was out one night in Franklin when some one recommended it. Still wasn’t sure until I watched the phantom gourmet review. That got my husband interested. We went to check it out and it was awesome. The staff was really nice too. Steak is all they have and they do it well and cheap. Drinks were well priced too. We will definitely be back!!!

This place is a throwback to the 70’s or earlier. Cash only. Small dining room. Very simple and dated. It is what it is. The thing to get is the big steak. $ 20.00 gets you a decent salad, a ridiculous — Fred Flinstone — style steak and your choice of potatoes. I’ve been here a bunch of times and unfortunate my the secret is out. Sometimes the wait is two hours! It’s worth it though… Don’t forget it’s cash only.

We decided to try pete’s after a friend recommended it. We weren’t disappointed, yes the steak is huge but it was cooked perfect. I’m more of a quality over quantity kind of person but Petes delivered both. I will admit the place isn’t new and modern and upon walking in it made us wonder if we made the right choice. But once we cut into our steaks we knew we make a good decision. They must use a good quality high temp grill because the steak was cooked the same way you would get it from a high end steak house only at a fraction of the price. For $ 20 which includes salad and baked or French fries you can’t go wrong We will be back!!!

Swung in around 8PM on a Thursday night. There’s about 10 bar seats but every one taken — and not a lot of others in the restaurant. Typically I’d rather not sit at a table by myself but having heard how awesome the steaks are … and craving to try one … I decided to sit at the end of a long table, within view of the only TV, with the other end of the table populated by a group of older women enjoying themselves with adult libations — could have been the Bellingham Book Club. If they noticed I was there they did very well in giving any evidence of it. Also going unnoticed by the wait staff — at least initially, i got a beer at the bar. The drafts are served in quantities smaller than the prune juice many had that morning. My second beer was a bottle. The food — the salad was overly dressed with Italian. Uninspiring and reminded me of one I’d get from a high school cafeteria lady. Baked potato was hot and served with packets butter and a sour cream. Not too shabby. The large NY Strip steak was damn good. I asked for medium rare and it was maybe a little past that but well within reasonable expectations — it was tasty, juicy, huge and an outstanding value. No way I was gonna finish it — so it looks like Sunday morning will be steak and eggs. i contemplated 4 stars and honestly 3.5 stars is where i’d put this. I’d go back for sure. Problem is if I go with someone else they better like dives and they better be a 5 star carnivore.

This was the best steak I have ever had! Perfectly cooked, huge, along with a baked potatoe and salad. This was my first time here after everyone sayin how good it is. Don’t listen to the reviews that knock this place, if you like and want a good steak this is the place!

Best price around for a great grilled steak cooked exactly how you order it. Not many menu options but people come here for a steak dinner(not the décor!)

Upon walking in, my dad and I made a face at one another. But we found our way to the actual dining area and hoped for the best. My dad showed me the Phantom Gourmet video and I was impressed! The steak was huge! I was surprised to get a fresh salad before my steak. Wish I knew so I could ask for no tomatoes. But it was yummy. The steaks came out for my dad and I… yum:) Big, juicy, and cooked just right. I got medium rare and steak fries. I wished they had mashed potatoes. But the steak was delicious!

This place has its downsides for some but if you want a steak this is it. Seasoned well and the cut of beef is thick and cooked well. I get the full cut med rare. It always comes out slightly charred on the outside and pink in the middle. Very limited menu and I hope they keep it that way. Since the phantom gourmet review pete’s has been very busy each time I have gone. Getting their first at 5pm when they open is the only way to avoid some long waits.

I’ve been to some of the best steakhouses out there and Pete’s Bluebird is right up there with all of them. With a $ 20 price tag on a MASSIVE sirloin it can’t be beaten in price and quality. Our waitress, who was part owner, was funny and had a good sense of humor. She was happy to tell us about the restaurant and even lets take a look at the kitchen.

There was 6 in our party. We ordered 3 large sirloins and 3 of the smaller sirloins. All the meals came with a fresh salad and steak fries. All of us where very happy with our meal and it was more than enough! The steaks where HUGE! Very juicy and tender. I had my salad with blue cheese dressing and that was very good also. I posted a photo of my steak for all to see. One bit of advice: get there at 5 or just before to beat the crowd! I’ll be coming back!

For what it is, it is really good. You are not going for the décor or the atmosphere. It really is a dive. The steak was delicious and beer was cold. I had friendly service. Give it a shot.

These other comments are funny. Pete’s is a local staple, its been around forever and will always be around(hopefully). The food is awesome, yes its a limited menu but that’s why its so good. And the building is older… I prefer«antique»! If you want uppity-fancy, this isn’t for you. If you want good old fashioned cooking, with a waitress who won’t smack your head but won’t take any shite either, this place is for you. I love Pete’s and am going back as soon as I can.

This is my type of place. Limited menu, meaning what they do, they do right! Come here for the big steak, it is hearty sirloin for $ 17. Cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection! Great drinks, poured cold and quickly. The service is surly at best. The waitress is no nonsense and you need to have your order ready, ask someone who has been before if you need help. The décor is dated, tacky, and divey and there are dead spots in the floor. None of this matters, the steak is just perfect for what it is. Remember this is a sirloin so you will have to do some work… delicious, delicious work. A must go.

This place is a dive, so keep that in mind if you go there. The only thing to order here is the Big Steak. It comes with fries and a nice salad. This place is as old school as it gets. Another suggestion is to order the hot dinner rolls. They are great. To the steak, it is a sirloin, probably 20 ounces for 17 bucks. You can’t go wrong. Now remember, this is a sirloin, not a filet. The steak has to be cut and has some bite to it. However, it is usually seasoned to perfection. They serve great drinks, in those small old school bar bar glasses. The female owner is a little awnery but don’t be scared. Not a place for a food snob.
