I’ve been getting the J Jill Catalog for years and although they offer a look that is not necessarily mine, I was still pleased to see a J Jill store open in the Old Mill Shops a few years back. I’ve been in several times over the last couple of years, most recently last week, and each and every time I’ve enjoyed great customer service in a well organized store and the products purchased at J. Jill have always held up well. PRODUCT: What I mostly buy at J. Jill are cotton tees and tanks. They seem to use some of the best quality cotton in the market, they are great for layering and they hold up to laundering. If you’re in the market for tee’s, take a look. I appreciate that they carry all sizes, including the smaller end of the size spectrum that is harder to find in Bend. I also note this is a relatively small store and so they don’t have a lot of inventory in smaller sizes, or larger ones for that matter it seems. So I appreciate that they they provide free shipping if you need an item in a size not in stock. In fact, if you want to order from the catalog and you go to the store to do it, you’ll get free shipping. Worth the short drive to the Old Mill Shops for sure. LAYOUT /SERVICE: I hate to shop, well unless it’s a hardware store or kitchen store or specialty food market or garden nursery and then I can browse for hours. But for clothes, not so much. So I appreciate that the well organized store makes it easy for me to find what I’m looking for. The very nice staff always offers help as soon as you come in the store. And«woohoo» for this, they actually will bring you clothes to the dressing room and take away what didn’t work for you and make suggestions for things you might try that you didn’t necessarily see on your own. What I call the«Nordstrom’s model» to let the customer stay in the comfortable dressing room while the sales staff does the hard work. I love it. I also appreciate there is no pounding music that makes me want to flee the store. Subtle makes me want to stay and shop. THIS N THAT: 1. Old Mill Shops typically has ample parking. 2. Access is level in and throughout. One accessible dressing room on prem. Accessible parking right outside the door. 3. Convenient location to Gap and Banana Republic across the street and Strictly Organic coffee just down the sidewalk a bit if you need to recharge.
