I’m a sucker for artisan jewelry. I’m not interested in mass production pieces, call me whatever you want, but I like jewelry that is actually made by real people and if it creative and unique… boom trifecta! So, this brings me to John Paul Designs. Gorgeous! Hand made rings, beautiful chains and unique hand forged pendents. Craftsmanship is obvious and the pieces themselves have weight and I love that you can feel them when you wear them. Amy was very friendly and I had the chance to look about the small shop. I walked in curious and now I want one.

While walking toward Deschutes brewing my wife uttered«A jewelry store let’s check it out !» The smell of IPA had me in a daze and I quickly agreed hoping it would not take long. Upon entering I quickly realized this was no ordinary jewelry store. The jewelry is very unique and it’s crafted with artistry, ingenuity, and inventiveness. John Paul has a style of his own. Nothing in the store looked mass produced. As a chemical engineer I found his work with metals truly impressive. For example, some of the rings are turned on a lathe giving them a industrial artistic look that captured my eye from a distance. We purchased a necklace for my wife and it set the mood for the whole trip. She can’t take it off ! I’m positive we will return for another purchase in the near future. The woman who sold us the piece was very professional and did not push us to buy. Instead, she explained how the jewelry was made and made us feel as though we were in a museum looking at artifacts. She seemed very knowledgeable and showed us pictures of past designs that were very impressive. Finally, a hidden plus is the lack sales tax that made this Californian feel as though we were getting a ten percent discount.
