Nina and I had dinner here as an early celebration of my birthday tomorrow. I’ve had it bookmarked for months. It’s on lower University between 7th and 8th. There was abundant street parking in the block. The restaurant is spacious, clean and bright. There is one unisex bathroom in the back, also clean and nicely decorated. We were greeted and seated at a table for 4 and given menus. The savory crêpes are traditional buckwheat galettes w/a variety of fillings. I had La Campagnard, w/mushroom, chicken, cheese, and pesto. Nina had a different crêpe whose name and ingredients I can’t remember. I had a glass of a French Sauvingnon Blanc. Both crêpes and the wine were delicious. Because they were relatively light and we didn’t have anything to start, we had room for dessert. There are several sweet crêpes. We decided to split La Delicieuse, which combined Nutella w/sliced bananas and sliced strawberries. The crêpe was large and served us both amply. It was, as the name suggests, delicious. We enjoyed it and Nina took a photo, which I will include. Service was attentive and friendly. It was a lovely dinner.

Egg ham n cheese times three and salmon and… I can’t remember what mine was but all are so good. We just happened to pass by and there was parking right in front. They were filling too. Highly recommend it!

GENERALQUALITY/DRINKS: This restaurant inspired me to become a Unilocal Reviewer. I feel like that should mean something, since I have avoided becoming one for years. The 5-star reviews that have already been posted have basically covered all I would desire to say: authentic(I have been to Brittany, a NW region in France– these are the real deal) and delicious savory(with buckwheat in the batter) galettes/crepes and sweet(only white flour in the batter) crepes, attentive French staff, lovely buzz-giving house cider that is poured into pottery bowls, which is fun… utterly delicious onion soup, and an earthy-tasting mocha that resembled the quality of something like Turkish coffee as opposed to the burned S***bucks-style. SAVORYITEMS: I tasted the smoked salmon/green onion/sour cream(La Nordique) and the potato/onion/brie(La Normande) savory galettes/crepes and I have now found a smoked salmon dish I would truly enjoy(and already-salmon-lovers would love) and an automatic favorite in the latter. When I go again I will get the scallop/leek/fondue one, though, because I love scallops and I trust they can do fish/seafood properly. SWEETITEMS: For dessert I tasted the butter and sugar(La Bretonne) with lemon(be sure to get it with lemon!!) and the banana/chocolate/toasted almonds(La Gourmande). The first is totally the answer for a light and satisfying dessert after eating a soup and/or a savory crêpe/galette– maybe I would add whipped cream to it next time. The second is a high quality version of what people order all the time everywhere for a dessert crêpe. ATMOSPHERE: This is an excellent first date place, especially at night. It is an excellent regular group/date place *any time*. I think the ambiance(which I don’t care about– I’m just trying to clarify my impression on that front) is just a tad basic in the daytime, though I love the Brittany-style accents they have. I just think that if you are looking for a slight romantic vibe, the place would be better once the sun goes down, and the warmth of the lighting and real flowers are more pronounced, non? But the food is stellar and the coffee is such high quality, I think anyone worth their salt would stop thinking about the slimmer level of ambiance once they took a bite or sip. I would totally give a gift certificate for that place(I am just assuming they could do that sort of thing). BOTTOMLINE: ~WONDERFULPLACE~

We had them set up at our Graduation yard party and we were more then happy. On time and very organized! Lycie and Brendon did an amazing job cooking the crepes and gallettes in front of everyone and they did not disappoint. They tasted delicious and many of our friends want to hire them for their next party! It was very special and I will use them again!!!

You haven’t had real crepes unless you’ve had them in France, so let me first establish my street cred and assure you that OUI, I have eaten many a French crêpe in France. Voila! The legit, buckwheat, Brittany-style galettes(not to be confused with the foldable, white, pancake looking ones you’ll find her in the states). Brittany Crepes is definitely authentic. From the French servers to the blue & white seaside décor; the Normandy hard cider to the crispy galettes filled with decadent ingredients like brie and leek confit and runny egg. Their crepes were just like the ones I had in the motherland. And for about $ 12 it’s quite the well rounded meal. I will be craving these on the regular. The place is casual but thoughtfully decorated, just nice enough for a date night. The focus is on the food, as it should be! So if we’re rating based on the important stuff: food, drinks, service, Brittany Crepes gets 5 stars no doubt.

I wish I could give this wonderful place more than 5 Stars. I hired them to cater my daughters bridle shower. From the begging, the owner arranged everything for me. Very accommodating and professional. I had a French themed party and this was the perfect place to do our event. The chef that prepared our food, arrived on time and had a fantastic personality. The food was the best crepes we have ever had, in fact I cant wait to have them again. He engaged with all of the guests to make sure they had a wonderful experience. From the main coarse to the desert the crepes were top notch in my book. I had complements from all of our guests about the service and the food. If your looking to have a catered event this is by far the best one I’ve ever had. Thank you Laurent for making my daughters day the most special day.

I wanted to like this place but it’s a complete nonstarter. The salad course was a mound of undressed greens conveyed directly from the bag to the plate with a side of vinaigrette. The main course — the top of the line scallop leek fondue crêpe — was puzzling and unappetizing. After this, I went across the street to Handlebar for a burger.

I was thoroughly surprised by this place. It replaced the gyro place that used to be there. Service: The waitress was amazing. She was very friendly, professional, and attentive. She had a great smile and a even better attitude. You can tell she really has invested a lot in this restaurant(she might be one of the owners). Food: I haven’t been to Paris, but this is what I imagine if I were to eat in Paris. I’m not usually a buckwheat kind of girl, but this place’s crepes blew my socks off! I had to opportunity to try both the savory and sweet crepes and they were both delicious! The crepes were nice and crispy — which is exactly the way I like it because it added that extra sensation to the dish. Overall: I would definitely recommend this place!

A wonderful little place on an oft forgotten stretch of University Ave. The campagnard(mushroom, chicken, cheese, and pesto in a buckwheat crêpe) was delicious, as was the house cider. The espresso tasted a little burnt, but that could easily have been a one-off experience. The atmosphere is incredibly pleasant, service was fast and extremely friendly, and there is ample street parking(I believe metered until 6pm) both in front and on the back streets around the restaurant. Maybe not worth a special trip, but it’s location makes it easy to stop at before hopping on the freeway out of Berkeley.

The food was great and the owners are delightful. Light and colorful atmosphere with a theme of Brittany. We enjoyed the«Traditional» cheese and ham galette(buckwheat crêpe) with addition of tomatoes. Also«la Fermiere» with chicken, mushroom, cheese, potatoes, tomatoes. For dessert, the«La Deliceuse» crêpe is a must-have! It includes strawberries, bananas, and Nutella; we ordered one and then another. Definitely check this place out for dinner if you haven’t yet.

We had a craving for crepes on La Chandeleur. Found them on Unilocal. They are closed on Tuesdays. Came by the following day. Easy street parking. Their menu offers enough choices for different palates and frequent visits. The bottled cider is from Normandy, but went well with the food. The galettes of our choice were a tiny bit undersalted.(They are called crêpes salées for a reason.) The crepes had a perfect texture. The interior is just lovely. The service was attentive and thoughtful, more professional than that of many restaurants in Berkeley. It was early February, they had already prepared a special menu for Valentine’s Day. For a new establishment, it is very well managed. We dined at Petit Crenn and loved it. But this place, not Petit Crenn, brought back fond memories of our vacation in Brittany. Will visit them again, not only on Crêpe Day.

The moment I stepped I got major nostalgia from my time studying abroad in Paris and the weekend I went to Bretagne(Brittany) and visited some little creperies there. For an evening it felt like I was back in France — the décor, the music, the menu. I loved being able to reminisce and indulge in what I think was a pretty authentic french dinner. For galettes, we ordered La Campagnarde and La Traditionelle. Both were so good but I especially loved the pesto on the campagnarde! And the traditionelle, which comes with jambon and fromage(ham and cheese) is classic. For dessert we ordered the beurre sucre and la tatin, and oh my goodness, that was the perfect way to top off the meal. One thing I love about crepes is their portion size — thin yet filling. So we didn’t let one bite go to waste. Even the cidre we ordered came with little bowls, just like how I remember from creperies in France. The pitcher it came in was so cute and I appreciated the thoughtful touch. As french food lovers, my boyfriend and I will be coming here plenty more. Great casual and family friendly spot, but can also be romantic(you’ll find fresh flowers and candles on the table). The owner is very friendly too and it was great chatting with her. This may be the closest thing to France I’ve found in Berkeley, and I’m really happy we have it!

Wonderful food and great service! Authentic French country cuisine with savory and sweet crepes(galettes) to die for. Location may seem odd, but there’s plenty of parking in front, at least when we went. A good wine list too and some interesting cocktails. Yum!

Went with some French friends and they said it was authentic. The cider as well as the buckwheat crêpes were thought to be authentic but as an American I can’t speak to that. The cider we chose was apple(the bottled) and was delicate. The scallop and leek crêpe was good but there could have been more leeks or something to fill up the crêpe more. The scallops were a decent size and cooked well. The desert crêpe I tried had chocolate(maybe nutella?) and bananas. It was good but again more fillings would have made it much better. The waitress was polite switching to English for me. The décor is inviting, with light blue walls and flowers on the small metal tables. It’s a relaxing place to come where you are not rushed.

I was missing the galettes from the now closed Galette 88 so I was excited that Berkeley has a new buckwheat crêpe place. The edges of the crepes were hard, dry, and crispy. I prefer my galettes soft so I’ll see if they can accommodate that request if I visit again. The galettes are very thin as they should be so you don’t get much filling. We tried the chicken/mushroom/pesto and the scallop crepes. The fillings were delicious and fresh. After finishing the crepes, we shared the french onion soup which our server was nice enough to help us split into two bowls. The soup was light which I liked. The cheese was tasty although I would’ve liked more of the crispy, browned part of the cheese. I wished I tasted the soup when it first arrived since it was lukewarm by the time we tried it. The shop is small, and half the tables were occupied the weeknight that we visited. We were seated next to the wall that separated the kitchen so the strange smell from the kitchen was very strong. The seats near the window may be better.

This authentic Breton crêperie starts to fill the hole left by Ti Couz. Walk in and hear French. Listen to French music piped overhead. Drink cidre out of bolées. Eat buckwheat crêpes, folded squarely over French fillings. They also have very good dessert crêpes, thin, with almost a custardy inside. It is a cute date place, yet family friendly; romantic, yet affordable; authentically French, yet casual.

Try this place! The traditional savory crepes are perfectly prepared and pair well with the cider on offer(served in earthenware bowls). A great dinner with an atmosphere of Brittany. And the dessert crepes(hello Nutella) are… well, let’s just say that the three we ordered disappeared in a second. Service is great and the French owners make the whole experience a pleasure.

Those of you whom miss Ti Couz form the Mission in SF, get in here! I have been so sad since that restaurant closed. There were no other good creperies, until now. This place is great. There are dinner crepes for kids(we had two that got«le complete» which is ham, egg and cheese, and was absolutely delicious.). We also enjoyed a few kir royals, and the hard cider served in boules, pottery bowls, French style. There were more sophisticated crepes, like the chicken, Potato and carmelized onion, which were crowd pleasers for the adults. Also a great salmon crêpe. Dessert crepes were also fabulous. The banana, almond and chocolate was good. Gotta love the traditional Nuttela, also awesome for the kids, or the citron, with lemon juice, butter and sugar. So good!

Came the other night & had a great time. They use high quality ingredients which comes through in their crepes. Convenient location for parking. french onion soup — I think this was just a one off bad order. The soup was room temperature, but the cheese was great. A few possible tweaks: use a bit more salt, sauté the onions for more flavor depth since this is vegetarian, & potentially using a blow torch or broiler to crisp the cheese a bit more for color. galette(mushroom, tomato, cheese) — quality ingredients seasoned well. The only suggestion is to use a bit more butter/fat when heating up the crêpe as it was pretty hard/crunchy. I think another reviewer alluded to this sweet crepes(strawberries & whipped cream) — delicious & will regularly come back to try all of the options.

Intrigued by the name, I popped a U-turn when I spotted this place even though I was on my way to pick up chinese food. I wanted to check if they actually had true slaty crêpes. Grabbed a «complète»(ham –legit ham-, swiss cheese, egg) to go. Delicious, authentic, fairly priced. I’ll be back for more. Frenchmen approved!

Time: 7:38pm/50°F clear Purpose: I was supposed to be in by 4:30pm, but the people were busy preparing for the evening. Got a work load and almost forgot about it. It’s now or next week… Ambiance: Place is a 36 seater mostly set up for two or four, but you can combined table for larger group. Maritime nautical theme decorations place meticulously here and there. Faux window on wall with functional shutters for that French village look and feel. Walls are painted light blue with dark blue trimming, and off white wood paneling. Crêpe griddle are place purposely near front of window for bypasser to see. It’s quiet and dim at night, but each table has open flame oil tea light pod. It feels warm and cozy for some might even be good for first date. Romantic setting? Depending on how you feel and the mood you’re in. Staff: A french woman and man about late 40s for front of house. Both über friendly speaks English as well as french. Lady was pushing for alkie and hot cider sales. Didn’t get upset when I said not now. The chef and only person behind counter manning four crêpe griddle showing a little tense body language. Every now and then, he looks out to dining area or ring service bell for done order. I had no interactions with the chef, and there was no need to as long as my order was being made. Not sure if they’re a married couple or not, but by the way they’re work together, it may be the case. The lady check up with me a couple of times making sure all is well. Cleanliness: Grade A, clean place with effort put in, and it shows. Nothing seen that would suggest a problem. Simple and practical nothing to it. Eats/Drinks: La Campagnarde $ 11.50 and french onion soup $ 8.75. Crêpe made from buckwheat and fill with chicken, cheese, mushroom & pesto. Absolutely the best I ever had in a while or since Paris(Vegas). I kid you not. What made this Crêpe so delicious? The organic buckwheat lightly soaked with pesto making it flavorful and delightful to consume. Chicken pieces not compressed hard or dark looking, just tender with fiber slightly sprouted. The way I like chicken meat to be especially on pizza, and this is no exception. Onion soup was delicious as I was warned, its hot. I can see comté cheese still bubbly and gooey with two slices of toast sticking out. Trying to position ramekin for a picture and nearly burn my fingers. It’s freaking delicious with melted cheese and caramelized onions conjoined together. I just wish there was a choice toast came on the side instead of in soup. That made it soggy, but still good to eat just wanted it crunchy so I can dip it myself. Next time, I’ll ask for toast on side. Main Features: Crêpe Products/Services: Salad, bread basket, charcuterie, french onion soup, vegetable soup, sweet/savory crêpe, beer-Heineken/Sierra Nevada, house-made apple cider, made in-house preserve spread, whole/organic buckwheat flour, takes plastic(no minimum), dine-in/to-go. Punch Lines: French country theme, pleasing flavors, modest cost, drool-worthy, easy night out, superb, top-notch, laid back, devotees, calm vibe, well-prepared, gracious host, light bites, long wait time, always a homerun, can’t go wrong, truly addictive, casual and delicious, unpretentious, is the place to be. Tradeoffs: Open only late evening, and no brunch on weekends. Inconvenience for those that may want it for lunch or snack. Final Thoughts: Crêpe is not just any Crêpe as I experience that last week. So, I had to redeem myself, and boy did I ever redeem myself. Folks you all heard of «accept no imitation» right? Well, this place is the real McCoy, the real deal. Not saying other places can’t do it, but how close to authentic can it get? This place is certainly not pretentious. It’s own and operated by French so how can you go wrong? Finally a place for Crêpe in eastbay for me. On the same token, it goes head to head with Crêpe-Madame.

We(2 couples) went on a Saturday evening after shopping. This place is VERY convenient to 4th Street shops! They feature truly authentic galettes, crepes, cider and wines. The French onion soup was excellent. We followed with four different galettes(traditional, vegetarian, paysan and Italian). They were all very good. Our dessert crepes(one traditional, the other strawberry) were excellent. The French chardonnay was very good. Their house cider is a bit sweeter than I am used to. The house cabernet was excellent. The brerad was excellent. Service was warm and very friendly. The ambience is simple, as befits a creperie. The metal chairs were a bit cold in the January evening chill(suggest seat cushions). The tables did not have place mats, which would be welcome. We will be back and we wish this new(3 week-old) restaurant much success — they deserve it!

Brittany is in a bit of odd spot. It’s situated at the beginning of University Avenue and 580. It’s easy to overlook this place from the road. I stumbled across this place in the frigid cold. The interior and staff are welcoming and warm. The interior has a light blue scheme with nautical decorations. I don’t really get the nautical theme, but maybe because we’re near the water? I say just go with the french theme. My waitress has a thick french accent, so I was expecting traditional french crepes. I ordered a cheese, mushroom, and tomato crêpe. I believe they use buckwheat flour for their savory crepes. Mine came out in large square shape. Great presentation and taste. The crêpe is slightly crisp just the way I like it. I also ordered a vegetable soup. The soup tasted like its base was broccoli. Good simply made soup. It also came with a basket of soft and crispy warm bread that I easily gobbled down. I only wish the bread came with some butter or spread. ____ I’m really interested in coming back to try their dessert crepes. Brittany is an unexpected surprise.

I’m so excited about this new addition to West Berkeley! They are on University, right before you hit the on ramp for the freeway, walking distance from Fourth Street and the Berkeley Aquatic park. We stopped in for a round of sweet crêpes and were delighted with our feast! My plain crêpe with butter & lemon was so divine — hit all the right notes & brought back childhood memories of Mom making these for special occasions. Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu: salads + soup + savory crêpes called galettes(Galettes are made with organic buckwheat flour, gluten-free, and dairy-free crêpes). Wheelchair access was decent although the rows between tables look a little narrow for a busier visit(we had the place to ourselves — go support new businesses!). Bathroom was fully accessible.

Authentic French Crepes. The savory buckwheat are delicious. Lovely simple salads, traditional cider, organic wines and delicious dessert crepes. This is the real deal. Not like that horror Crêpe and Vine on Shattuck. The French couple that run the restaurant are charming and attentive. The food was all delicious and affordable and there’s tons of easy parking. The last time we had crepes this good was in Brittany France. We will be making this a regular spot!

Brick-and-mortar restaurant from Laurent Le Barbier, who has had stands at several local farmers markets for a few years. This is the real deal. Server was French as were a lot of the customers. Soup of the day was a very French seasonal vegetable potage. Charcuterie plate included some excellent pâté de campagne. Galette with ham and cheese was just what it should be. I thought bites without much filling needed a tiny pinch of salt but that’s probably good for Berkeley palates. Apple and caramel crêpe was also spot on. I liked the bottled cider a lot more than house cider by the glass, worth the extra money. The galette seemed a bit dry to me, on the way out I asked if they use butter, they said«yes, but not as much as they do in Brittany,» so they’ve gone a little Berkeley on that score as well. In the future I’ll ask for extra butter.
