Last time I was there, I spent $ 50 and left thinking, «Yeah, that wasn’t worth it.» When a friend suggested HH today, I hesitantly said«sure I’ll go.» Called to order a takeout New Yorker for my neighbor and they said«No takeout» I said, «Yeah but we are coming in to eat, I’m just grabbing a sandwich for my neighbor who can’t come out with us» and they said, «The owner wants you to sit in the seats when you eat the food, no takeout» and I said, «Ok, can I add it to the bill after we are done with our meals and bring him home a sandwich afterwards, and I was told, «If you order here, the owner wants you to sit in the seats and for you to eat here» And I said thank you and hung up. Called my neighbor, said sorry I couldn’t bring him home the New Yorker and called my friend said, «Let’s go SOMEWHEREELSE.» And so we did.

Absolutely love this place. Only a few blocks away from where I live. Every hero I had there was amazing and the portions are great. Awesome staff. Great good. Just so good!

This is literally the bar around the corner for us. My boyfriend and I are kinda obsessed with their wings. They’re crispy and have the right amount of sauce and heat, so good. The sandwiches and disco fries are tasty as well. My only gripe is I feel they’re a little expensive for what they are. It’s pretty much a local dive bar with decent food. Portions are big, but the bill with drinks always ends up surprising us a little. Also, there is one waitress there who is not very friendly.

The kind of place that makes you want to run home and write a review, and not in a good way. I struggle to find a situation I would recommend this place unless you live within walking distance and like to make believe you live in NYC with their rude attitudes. The service is terrible, the food although good is not good enough to tolerate the service and the kitchen is so small it comes out one plate at at time, plan on 20 min to serve 8 from first dish to last delivered. The beer selection is average at best and the place itself is just blah. It’s the quintessential kind of place where they think the customer is there to serve them instead of the other way around. Not worth the bother, much better places within a short drive or even walking distance(Machs Gute), if you go in an have the waitress with the bad neck tattoo definitely run for the hills.

Food is delicious here! Creative sandwich combinations and huge portion sizes. They have a full bar and excellent beer selections. It’s a great place to watch games, or the owner puts on a show or a movie which is super cool. I have friends that come to watch The Walking Dead every week. Unique neighborhood bar, love coming here.

The boneless wings and Pauly’s pierogies are top notch bar food. Sandwiches are huge with good bread. You can share a half with fries and a couple of apps and walk out full. If you’re going for stuffed, eat a half on your own. The wood glen was great. Roast beef, melted swiss, coleslaw and horsey sauce. Yeah! Chicken breast with roasted peppers and balsamic got a thumbs up from Dan. Divey vibe with satisfying food and cold beer. Nuff said…

Good, not great. The atmosphere was much better than I was expecting and, since the place was empty when I visited, the service was outstanding. Looked like they had a great assortment of beer. The menu choices struck me as very traditional. I was expecting a gastropub but it’s more of a «Goosey Gander Except You’re Drunk» type of place. Definitely deserves another shot, though.

I can speak for the wings and turkey B/T sandwich. Both are solid. Regarding the sandwich– the portions are very big. Half will be filling!!! Very friendly staff. This a cool dive bar/low key spot to come and chill. Not loud so you can actually have a conversation and enjoy some brews. :)

Great Heroes, Rice Balls, Disco Fries. Good local place to get away from the same olé same old. The only reason not 5 stars. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. This doesn’t go for everyone that works there either.

Hometown heroes is one of my favorite«cheat meals» you get a ton of amazing food at an affordable price. Whenever we have guests, we tame them here. The chicken cordon bleu is a must!

We picked up two subs here before a storm. I’d advise calling ahead because it took a little bit for the sandwiches to be ready, but it was worth the wait. The sandwiches were hearty and tasty.

After 9 years of serving food, Hometown Heroes has made the choice to be a dine-in only restaurant. We have become increasingly busy and our tiny kitchen can no longer efficiently accommodate both dine-in and take-out. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We hope to see you your next night out!

excellent pierogies! I would rate this higher if the bartender wasnt so rude… almost makes you not want to come back… they also have a rule of no take out on weekends which sucks too.

Good food, poor customer service. The food is good, no question about it. But when I can’t call in a to go order on the week end, what is that about it?! I don’t drink so I don’t want to sit in dirty, dark, dive bar waiting for food. If you can’t run your restuarant, close the doors.

Excellent burger and sandwiches. Plus they have some craft beers on tap. I am very critical about burgers trust me on this, if you are in the mood for a good burger then you should go here.

Great food, great beer, great people! For such a small place, you wouldn’t expect the selection of beer(6 – 8 on tape and 20-ish bottles), or the quality of food. Owner Paul and his dad John are almost always there tending bar or cooking food. And speaking of the food. Wow. Appetizer must tries include Paulie’s Pierogies(Mini Pierogies sauteed w/bacon and onions), Disco Fries(Fries w/gravy and melted mutz), Rice Balls and Bruschetta(W/or without mozzarella). As for the sandwiches? There’s a pig’s worth of bacon on the Hometown B.L.T.(or if you’re feeling truly adventurous, the Bri-Elle-T, with additions of chicken fingers and ranch dressing), a cow’s worth of beef on the John’s Roast Beef, and several turkeys go into a Black & Tan(Hot turkey, melted«mutz» and homemade gravy). If it sounds good to you(and it will!), then don’t hesitate to order it. Oh, and check the sign above the register. Do they have the cheesecake? Yes? Do yourself a favor and get a slice to go! If not, make a trip back and save some room!

I have been to this rather exquisite locale a large handful of times over the past few years. I find the location quaint, if a bit drab, but I digress. What’s really important for me to convey to you in a respectful manner is what to expect when ordering off of their finely laminated menu. I consider myself to be somewhat of a good food conneuisseur, and as such have dedicated myself to sampling many of the fine offerings on this menu of «heroes». HUGE Each bite I take achieves a new level of disappointment in terms of taste, size, quality, and texture. My brother, Brad, recommended I sample what he described to me as «the best crabcake he ever has orally disposed of». Low and behold and much to my chagrin I come to find they’ve been maliciously and deliberately removed from the menu! When I questioned my waiter about the removal of the crabcakes, he proceeded to inform me that crabcakes were never on the menu, essentially calling Brad a liar and ruining my lunch. If your wondering what I ate, it was the«„Mikey“» and it tasted of rancid fry oil and battery acid. One star.
