This pizza might be my favorite in Birmingham, maybe because they have granulated garlic to put on the pizza, which is my favorite. This place is a family favorite complete with crying children, of which I’m not a fan, but the pizza is great! I did a create your own and got pepperoni, banana peppers, and black olives, which was great! There was a substantial amount of toppings for a good price. My boyfriend got the sriracha based pizza… cannot remember the name of it, but he loved it! All the meat on it made it a little greasy, but that can be expected when you get a really meaty pizza. It was ~$ 20 for two personal pan pizzas, which werent really personal because we both took home two slices. I’ll definitely be back!

Having eaten here for the past 25 years I can easily say this is my favorite pizza place in the Metro-Birmingham area. They hit a trifecta of quality toppings, great hand-tossed crust, and a good sweet sauce. Some of the employees have been working here as long as Ive eaten here. Try anything on the menu but the Harlem Special is my go to pizza.

This is probably my favorite pizza place in Birmingham. It isn’t a trendy new place but instead gives me the vibe of a good ol’ local pizza joint that feels like home. When you arrive, you seat yourself. I typically come with a large group, and we never have trouble finding a space for 8+ people. Our drink orders are taken almost as soon as we sit down, and our food order not long after that. The pizzas are completed pretty quickly even with having a big order. I have never had a pizza here I haven’t liked. Each pizza has a name related to New York. There are traditional supreme type options as well as more gourmet options. I currently am obsessed with the Central Park which has an olive oil sauce, chicken, orange bell peppers and goat cheese. My husband typically gets the World Trade Center which has every possible topping imaginable. The calzones are delicious too. Note that the pizza does reheat well especially in a toaster oven. Towards the end of the meal, the waitress brings one check to the table. You then go up to the register to pay. If you are in a group that needs to split the tab, you just tell them at the register which pizza you ordered from the check. SO easy for a large group! Note that there are large tvs so a great place to watch a game!

Fantastic pizza and fantastic service. By far the best pizza I’ve found in Birmingham. It’s never very crowded so the service is always very personal. I’ve never been disappointed with any of the pizzas I’ve tried. They also deliver which is convenient.

In a competitive market like Homewood, they really need to step up their game. Our server never put anything in front of a diner. Drinks, salads, utensils, everything just got dumped on the end of the table for us to pass around ourselves. He also never refilled drinks which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Diners should simply never have empty glasses. The pizza is okay but always seems to come to the table in pan full of moisture. By the time the last piece is served, it’s soggy. I’m really not a fan of NY Pizza but several family members enjoy it. To me, there’s simply nothing special about the food and the service always seems sloppy and unprofessional.

Food and service – always good. I LOVE the bacon pomodoro and have never had a bad pizza here. This is my favorite pizza place in town. The only drawback is the atmosphere. It is usually packed and seems to be favored by families with unruly and/or loud children. As well as loud adults who have had a few too many brews. I try to pick seating away from the fray, but this can be difficult and it’s pretty bad when you can’t hear your dining partner for the loud mouths next to you.

Took my 11 month old Grandson here last Saturday for lunch. Of course he did not eat any pizza I brought his juice and baby food. I ordered the Upper East Side because that’s my favorite part of NYC. It was very good but a little heavy on the cheese, bacon and alfredo. But it was as described in the menu. The small was more than enough for lunch and I got a go box for the rest which I had for dinner. We had a very nice server who was attentive and even interacted with my Grandson. I am removing one star because of one lazy employee. Upon entering the restaurant, as I said it was just myself and my Grandson, who I was holding. I did not have a stroller. I walked up to the counter to inquire about a high chair. I asked the young man behind the counter if I could get a high chair and he pointed to my right where several high chairs were all stacked up on top of each other three and four high, «high chairs are over there». With a baby on my hip and a diaper bag and purse on my shoulder it was not exactly easy to get the high chair down off the stack. I managed and then had to carry it all the way to the table myself. Had this young man had the manners to assist me with the high chair this would be a four star review. And might I add the restaurant was not busy. There were 3 or 4 tables occupied tops and they even had one whole side of the restaurant blocked off so people couldn’t sit there. This guy was not checking out any customers. He wasn’t doing anything but standing there. Where I come from that is poor customer service.

So the Pizza Connissoueur(PC) and I decided we wanted to check out a new(to me) pizza spot in Homewood. He’s been here before years ago, but couldn’t remember exactly what to say about the food. When we arrived, we wasn’t sure what to do, so we went to the counter. Dude was on the phone, presumably taking an order. We waited on him to finish, but when he did, he still did not acknowledge us or even look up. That’s when we noticed a sign that read«Please sit yourself«. So we did. Strike one on customer service. As we chose a booth to sit at, a waitress comes out and tells us to sit anywhere. And we do. I notice an arcade room in the back and I go check it out. Skittle ball and Pac man I see and a few other machines and games. Score a star for that. I return to my table to give the waitress my drink order. PC and I decide to order two 9 inch pizzas so we could customize them how we want. I chose to try my cheeseburger Alfredo recipe– Alfredo sauce, ground beef and cheddar cheese; he selects the Harlem which is the meat lovers version. He also orders some garlic bread to start us off. The garlic bread is a toasted sub roll with a very light garlic spread in the middle. Honestly couldn’t taste that much garlic in it. However, the accompanying marinara sauce was terrific. It was sweet and full of flavor. Yummy. When our pizzas arrived, I was immediately impressed with how mouthwatering they looked. The toppings were plentiful on the Harlem, and my creation looked cheesily delicious. No, that’s not a word, but that’s how my pizza looked. As we ate, PC said the pizza reminded him of the old Pasquale’s chain back in the day. I was too busy smacking and chewing to respond. Our total came to $ 27 for the bread, 2 small pizzas and a coke. Not too shabby. We paid and checked out the game room. I won a prize. That was the icing on a pleasing afternoon stop at New York Pizza. I’m sure we will return. Soon.

I have traveled all over the US and abroad. In my love of pizza I have sampled pizzas in most major cities, including New York, Chicago and even in Italy and France. The second place pizza on my list does not come near the pizza here! By far and easy winner of the best pizza I have ever eaten! The large all meat pizza was shared by my friend and I this week. We ate the entire pizza in 16 minutes. OWNERS: Contact me please! I want to discuss a NYP in the bay area south of Houston, TX. I eat there every time I come to visit our nearby plant(well, not so near… Leeds, AL) and can’t wait until I get there again. Our IT guy in Houston is the same way. We send each other pics teasing that we are eating your pizza and the other one isn’t. The manager there knows he has to plan at least one meal at NYP when I am in town. Can’t wait to see you later in October!

We’ve just had the Madison Square calzone. We were very hungry and you might think we would eat anything, even if we hated it. Fortunately, the calzone really hit the spot! Great smell and flavor. The marinara sauce was a perfect compliment. The service was friendly. Vickie, our server, helped us know about some of the bars around town we might like. The food took slightly longer than I expected. Starvation probably made me a tad impatient. Prices were reasonable for what we had. Two people, two calzones, drinks, with tip: $ 28. Check them out, they’re good.

This place was excellent. This may be my favorite pizza place in town. It’s hard to find great pizza in the south. This place exceeded my expectations. The service was great and the staff was friendly; certainly added to the experience. I had the combo pizza, I believe it’s called«the natural???» I could be mistaken. If I am, its basically a combination pizza without red onions Our second pizza was a Hawaiian. It’s not on the menu but you can build your own. It was delicious. Wasn’t fresh pineapple, but the crust and sauce make up for it. Overall, great pizza. This place receives 4 stars because it’s not to die for. Yes, it’s excellent and you wont be disappointed but you wont wake up in the middle of the night wanting more. The beer was served in plastic mugs and wasn’t as cold as it could have been. Would I recommend this, absolutely. Would I ask to have it on my death bed, no.

I have patronized New York Pizza for over 15 years now. I used to order at least once a week when I lived on the south side years ago before they expanded. They were always busy and crowded. Business seems to have slacked off some now, but their pizza are still great. Love the larger restaurant and the staff is always ready to accommodate and please you.

We lived near New York for a few years and was skeptical of NY Pizza. We arrived and the place was a little old and beaten. But still clean. We are seated in a booth and watching the NCAA tourney. We order two pizzas… World Trade Center and a cheese pizza. We waited for a short bit and then they came out. The pizzas were excellent and the Jalapeños made pizza even finer. No doubt an excellent place to eat. If you are looking for upscale it is not your place… But if you are looking for quality food… This fits the bill

We have been on the hunt for good pizza since moving to the area recently. Unfortunately I think that our search will continue. There was a good selection of toppings and specialty pizza combinations. We decided to try the Southampton pizza with pesto, artichoke hearts, feta, and sundried tomatoes. Flavor was decent but not great. The crust failed to impress. Overall, not a bad place to grab a quick bite if you’re in the area, but we won’t be going out of our way to go back anytime soon.

Better than the $ 1 per slice pizza available in New York. Stopped by here with a friend for lunch. The place was pretty empty at noon, which was surprising based on it’s location. I ordered a house salad and a small Southampton pizza, which includes: Pesto Sauce, Artichoke Hearts, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Onions, Feta & Parmesan. The salad was unimpressive, just iceberg lettuce and some toppings. The pizza was better than average, but I wouldn’t drive out of my way for it. It is better than most other pizza places I have tried in Birmingham though.

I don’t know if this is genuine New York-style pizza, but that’s because I didn’t give it a chance. Let me clarify. I grew up in New Jersey, and I’m VERY particular about my pizza. To me, the word«pizza» means thin, floppy crust; tons of cheese; so much grease that it saturates the cardboard box in spots. If I were on Death Row, that’s what I’d request for my last meal: New York-New Jersey-style pizza. The reason I say I didn’t give this New York pizza a chance is, I got all healthy and ordered a whole wheat crust pie with goat cheese and feta cheese and extra spinach and garlic and artichoke hearts. The result? A delivery system for cheese and vegetables, and MAN, it was delicious. Next time I come through Birmingham, I’ll overcome my health urges & order the traditional style to see how it stacks up against my NJ childhood memories. Bottom line: if you’re in Birmingham & want pizza, GETTHISPIZZA! PS, they delivered to my hotel room.

I love how the cheese comes close to dripping off the slice as you pull it up away from you. So why the three stars? According to their policy there’s actually a lot of limitations you have in trying to customize your order. Since I was ordering a large pizza, I wanted different flavors but no matter how many times I chose something I was told that my combination couldn’t be done because those were all items on the specialty menu, despite that they contained all the same condiments in the build-your-own-pizza options. It didn’t help either that once I came to a decision, and arrived to pick up my pizza, my order had not been started because they couldn’t customize my order again. Therefore, we had to brainstorm more combinations to find something that worked. In the end, I still enjoyed the pesto cheesiness of it all. However, I was aggravated how long it took to get to that point. The restaurant feels kind of grimy and dirty. They have a little arcade on the side. Refrigerator Test: Nasty. Don’t leave this in the fridge. It’s good if left out for one day but even then, everything is stale and tastes like cardboard.
