We had a Classic Burrito with chicken. My husband and I split it and with the chips and salsa it was plenty. The hot salsa was fantastic and the three salsa that came with the burrito were super tasty! As my husband said, «we’d be here weekly if we were locals.» Service was fast and friendly.

El Ranchito is one of the best restaurants in Bishop where you can receive quality food with amazing customer service. The staff treats their customers like family, which I love. It’s a family oriented restaurant with a welcoming vibe. Great prices as well as portions. They’re also making many improvements to up the quality, from changing the interior and menus, adding made to order cold pressed juices(YAY) and agua frescas to making their own English muffins. This place definitely won’t disappoint!

Fast an friendly service. Real traditional Mexican food at reasonable prices. Do not let the outward appearance stop you from coming in this place is worth the calories. Their spin on on tostada is so mouth watering. Ranchero sauce, guacamole and sour cream with black beans is award winning. The cheese relleno has a bit of a kick but don’t let that stop you from enjoying it. The pepper is packed with flavor and not mushy. Finely a salsa rich with tomatoes and cilantro !!!

Our group of 12 annually passes through Bishop. This was our first time not having a place to eat(our usual spot became very disappointing) we found El Ranchito on Unilocal.Immediately called to see if they could accommodate our large group. Ginger answered our call with a sweet welcoming voice told us she would reserve our table. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a very hospitable staff. The food was fresh and delicious!!! The prices were reasonable. The menu had a great variety of choices. We tried many dishes from denver omelettes to chilaquiles. Not one complaint! Our coffee cups were constantly being refreshed. The environment was clean. We are sure to make this our new go to place every year!

After having a terrible experience at a Café place in Mammoth Lakes, we decided to try out El Ranchito in Bishop. The breakfast was SOGOOD!!! And the service was great! Definitely authentic Mexican food and I can’t put into words how tasteful everything was… and the place was delightful.

Best Mexican restaurant in town! My family has been going here for years, we love the food and the staff. The enchiladas are incredible, as are the chips and salsa. We never go anywhere but here when we’re in the Mexican mood.

Awesome breakfast. The breakfast enchiladas were superb as were the chilaquiles. Be sure to order the home style potatoes. Best of all were the salsas made onsite. We practically drank them!

(Dined 03÷18÷16 F @ 9:00am): I was ready to pet some animals at this ranch! As our first official food stop on our way to a long Mammoth camping/lodging weekend, El Ranchito won over familiar places my traveling party and I have been to as well as other places we found on Unilocal. In many cases, they weren’t open yet or simply didn’t sound appealing, so this Mexican eatery was selected. Did we choose wisely or did our luck run out!?: «Mexican» Shrimp Omelet($ 9.15) — I didn’t eat breakfast often, but when I did I usually opted for my beloved omelet. This meal consisted of whole shrimp, Mexican shredded cheese, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, chopped serrano peppers, and three eggs, all served with your choice of hash browns, country potatoes or refried beans and your choice of toast or biscuit and gravy. Since it was«no-meat Friday» for me but wanted something of substance, camarones called my name. Once this platter arrived, my mouth was agape at the size of the portion. I’d stuffed my face the evening before at a Unilocal event so I wasn’t sure if I’d be up to the task; of course I was! The omelet was filled with all sorts of freshly-chopped vegetables and plump shrimp. However, I wished the shrimp were diced into smaller bits so I had seafood in every bite. The hash browns were thick and went well with the spicy green sauce they provided. The sourdough toast was small but made perfect with my favorite orange marmalade I lathered all over it. Service — Greeted by a friendly middle-aged woman, she sat our party of six in a corner booth closest to the front door, was armed with menus for everyone, gathered us glasses of water, and was ready to take our orders. Before doing so, she asked if we wanted separate checks — hell yeah! The majority of my party was Spanish-speaking so apparently that was the language of the morning. I collected myself, summoned all my years of Spanish classes, the past year or so as I practiced with my maintenance men, and ordered like everyone else. Mucho gracias to the kind woman for her patience as I ordered mi comida. In about ten minute’s time, one by one each of our orders arrived at our table along with various salsas to lather-up the food. We were checked on a couple times, had our water glases filled, and when it was time to pay-up, she left separate checks on the table as we marched up to the cash register and paid. All in all, a nice way to start a long Mammoth vacation. Parking(Free) — Although I didn’t see a specific lot for them, there was plenty of 2-hour limit parking along the main drag of Main St. as well as surrounding streets. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — A vibrant interior reminescent of the Caribbean Islands or the famed San Telmo barrio of Buenos Aires with an overt homage to the sea based on its blistering blue painted walls , displayed fake sea turtles, and draped fishing nets. Colorful sombreros and framed pictures of Mexico also covered the walls. This looked to be at one time an old skool coffee house diner based on the snug layout with its low-back wooden bench tables, worn cushioned booths, and a handful of swiveled bar stools at the counter. A few ceiling fans helped to keep the place cool(not that is was hot during this visit). Plenty of natural sunlight flooded in through the large front glass windows while soul-sucking fluorescent lighting filled in the rest. There were a couple TVs(muted but with captions) but no background music. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, El Ranchito was a welcomed stop after an early start to the day and surprised by how much we collectively like them. I would definitely consider stopping here again whenever I was in the area. The service was wonderful, and I really liked how our greeter/waitress was playful with the one toddler in the party. I loved the portion size, relatively low prices for what you got, and a varied enough menu(they even had onion rings but I sadly passed them up). In addition, I must reiterate that we were offered to pay by separate checks! I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(TOTAL paid experience was around $ 10.00BEFORE tip). And, although they accepted credit cards, not mine of choice… AMEX! 4.0STARS

I do not recommend this place. Ordered the Machaca, the eggs were burnt, rice undercooked and the beans had no flavor.

Very authentic Mexican food! We were on our way to La from June mountain and decided to stop at bishop for lunch. I’m glad we did! This place was great. Customer service was excellent. The owner was very nice about responding all our questions about where their seafood came from etc. my husband is a vegetarian so he had the chile relleno and love it! I had the enchiladas with green sauce and they were also pretty good.

Awesome Mexican restaurant that offers so many options. If you are craving it you can find it here. I love their carne asada sandwich and burritos. Service is a little slow sometimes so be prepared to take some time to eat here. It is so worth it though. They also serve amazing American/Mexican breakfast too(omlets, scrambles, burritos).

The rule of thumb for authentic Mexican food is follow the local Hispanic crowd and where they go to nosh. That’s how one knows this is where to go. I have been coming here for some time as a local and have found it to be the best Mexican food in town. My selections for lunch or dinner are either the two tacos combo or the steak ranchero. Can’t go wrong either way. Add the salsa to top the beans and it’s perfect. The wait staff is quite friendly and accommodating.

It’s alright. Wouldn’t come here again probably. Portions are massive. Unfortunately, the food is made to be extremely saucy/cheesy and overly rich to make up for the lack of good ingredients. If you like that sort of thing, this place might be 4 stars for you. Seems clean enough and not overpriced.

Cool place, good food, nice staff, a remarkable pazole — perfect with fresh lime, cilantro, cucumber. Also very nice combinaciones — washed down with a Modelo or a Sierra Nevada pale ale.
