Great food, great service, relaxed atmosphere — best filet I have ever had. Staff made us feel very special.

What a delightful find in Bishop. I had the house salad followed by the filet mignon. The meat was tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked to my order, and nicely garnished with caramelized onions and blue cheese. Accompaniments included very nicely prepared spaghetti squash, butternut squash, and mashed potato. They even had a favorite Zinfandel from Peachy Canyon.

We stopped in Bishop on our way for a week in Lake Tahoe. I had the surf and turf appetizer and then a Maui Onion soup and they were amazing. My wife and I looked at each other and said the chef is the owner or this guy would be in LA making a bunch of money. We were right and both our dinners were great and he makes great deserts including Home made ice cream. Will plan our return trip around a stop here for dinner. Wine list does not live up to the quality of the food so I went to the car and got a nice Cab and the corkage was a modest 15 $.

For this small town Sage is a great choice for gourmet. Enjoyed a stout malbec, favorable salmon, warm bread and great service. mark @ Eastern Sierra Entertainment

The staff was nice, and the food was decent. A bit pricey, and not very unique. I liked the giant fork on the wall though.

This restaurant was amazing. Looked shabby from the outside but as soon as we came inside, we were welcomed by the servers who are very friendly charismatic people. The food was amazing, the fillet mignon and sirloin were delicious.

I went to Sage with my family for my father’s birthday. Darin fit us in, despite having a large dinner party at the same time. I’m grateful for that, as was my father. The service was superb and the food was even more so. By far and away, this is the best restaurant in town. I ordered the Choice Sirloin and it was the tenderest piece of beef I’ve had in years! Cooked exactly as I ordered it. To my delight, I enjoyed every morsel of that steak. Mmmm… The night ended superbly with the fruit plate. Don’t pass that up! It’s well worth it!

This was one of the BEST meals I have had in this part of the county in years. Chief & owner, Darren is an exceptional host and chief. This was an Amazing dinner. The filet was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Bison meatloaf and loved it. This is a real gold find‼

Had the Bison meatloaf. Yummy and the perfect end to a rainy and cold day looking at the Fall colors. Good service, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring a date here for special romantic occasion.

We chose this restaurant for our 30th anniversary dinner and night on the town. We were seated promptly at our table that displayed a beautiful bouquet of roses purchased by my ever romantic husband. Brought tears to my eyes. We ordered the Surf and and turf special. Hot bread was delivered while we pondered our anniversary. I had Potato Cilantro soup which was delicious while Jerry ate his beautiful dinner salad with Ranch dressing that he said was very tasty. Our sirloin steaks were cooked to perfection with some if the most tender and tasty garlicky shrimp I have ever tasted. The mashed potatoes were tasty but the dollop if puréed carrots really took me by surprise. The wine list was good and not too expensive and The crème brûlée was divine. The service was exceptional, it was early Monday night and we did have a reservation. We would highly recommend the Sage Restuarant for that special occasion or even a nice family dining experience.

We followed the Unilocal ratings to find a nice place for dinner on our way in Bishop, and were pleasantly surprised by a very nice staff and excellent food. This is as good as it gets in Bishop, which is to say very good — but the five stars are relative to the local choices and not in comparison to the excellent restaurants in more competitive locales. That said, still close to a four star even at Marin, Ketchum, Jackson Hole, Boulder, and the like standards. Imaginative, tasty, and well presented dishes. Very enjoyable experience. The restaurant was not full when we were there, so can’t opine on the level of service when staff is stretched — as some reviews have complained of service problems. We had excellent service, and very pleasant. Only suggestion is to get an espresso machine, and/or use better coffee beans.

Salads were great, appetizer was great. Vegi ravioli was great. And the whole rest of the meal, including that part, was pretty much destroyed by the atrocious service. Slow slow slow. We waited about 30 minutes from the time we FINISHED our salads and appetizer until our food showed up. During that time, NOT A SINGLE meal came out of the kitchen, for us or anybody else. Was the chef asleep? Hung over? Not on the premises? We don’t know, of course. But no food came out of the kitchen for 30 minutes. ??? My companion got pork tenderloin which was largely tasteless, and everything on her plate was lukewarm at best. We will not be going back, and suggest that you don’t go either. Of course, with service like this, I don’t expect that the restaurant will be around for much longer.

My new favorite dinner spot in the area. Fine dinning in a comfortable environment. Chef/owner was friendly, knowledgeable and a great cook. Service was perfect. The clam with mahogany smoked bacon pasta was so good we took a second order with us to enjoy later.

We chose Sage for our post-hike steak dinner after 9 days in the Sierra backcountry. The Unilocal reviews guided us here, and I am happy to report that this is a good place to go for a well marinated and prepared steak dinner in a white tablecloth restaurant. The service was just right. The food was just what we wanted! The salad, garlic mashed potatoes and the 7 oz medium rare steak were prepared well. I ordered a glass of Edna Valley merlot to accompany the beef and enjoyed the accompaniment. The service was prompt, courteous, and well-timed. I would happily return here for future meals while in the area.

This place looks sleepy from the outside being in a business park. But the food was first rate. Highly recommend the filet !

During our short stay in Bishop we had the great pleasure to have dinner at the Sage Restaurant. The welcome was great and we immediately have been informed that they ran out of different dishes, before they handed the menu over to us. Very pro! The food was really very good and tasty. Service was very attentive and highly friendly. A MUST when visiting Bishop.

I came in with a group of friends for dinner on a Friday night. There was 7 of us and restaurant isn’t that large so there was only one table which could fit us all. While waiting for the current patrons of that table to finish and pay their bill another group came into the restaurant. They waited about 10 minutes and were not attended to and ended up leaving. Bad sign of things to come. Throughout the dinner, service was extremely slow. We waited about 40 minutes to get our food. Also, I was kind of annoyed that they had an off menu special for a 14 Oz ribeye steak but the server didn’t tell us about it. During the meal I heard another server tell his table. As for the quality of the food, it was pretty good. I ordered the pork tenderloin and was very happy with the taste. However, I was extremely disappointed in the portion size. With there only being about 5 small slices of pork, the portions are extremely small for the price.
