I thought Raymond’s was moving into the Sizzlers? We came by Raymond’s the day they were moving and spoke with them and even noticed all of their stuff over at the old Sizzler’s?

I read that Raymond’s Deli ha closed and I say ‘Say it ain’t so!’. Honestly I loved this place because it was one of the best places to eat in the area and also because no stop in Bishop was complete without. The food was great. The sandwiches were really tasty and the service always awesome. I loved the attitude. The people who worker there would give you advice and sometimes I needed encouragement, but they were never wrong with a recommendation. I really was happy with this place and miss it already.

Man I love this place! I have been going to Schat’s since I was a kid but always considered it a hype. Nothing like a good sandwich after hitting the Owens! Discovered Raymond’s and wow! Always get at least two sandwiches. One for the road! Even when I’m camping I always stop by on the way home or on the way to the campsite. You have to be careful cause it’s hard to see and you might end up going to Schat’s instead lol. I have no complaints. Don’t sell out!

The boy and I liked this place. It was hipster/divey, which pleasantly surprised him, I think. Lots of funny/crude signs on the walls and stuff. I had read reviews on Unilocal so I knew what to expect. The service was neither friendly nor hostile, very much in keeping with the jive of the place. No over-friendly Pollyannas here fo sho! I ordered the Knuckle(turkey, bacon, cheese) and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actual turkey, not some processed lunch meat. I rated it a solid 4. The boy had a pulled pork sandwich(wish the website were working so I could access the exact name of it), but he was super-happy with his choice and rated it a 4 as well. The baby seemed to enjoy his PB& J. It IS a bit pricey for sandwiches but I can totally see us coming here again when we pass through Bishop during our summer vacays!

I really had high hopes for this place. My parents live in Bishop, so we go up pretty often. Decided to have lunch here one day, since I drive by it constantly. I’d ordered The Knuckle and I will say that the sandwich itself was good, but definitely not anything special. My boyfriend ordered the Azzkicker and it was awful! There was something off about it. I’m not sure if it was the horseradish or what, but it was definitely not what we’d expected. Roast beef with au jus; how can you go wrong? Except that it was. My review wasn’t really based on the food to begin with. It is the customer service, or lack there of! Before anything else, I’d stopped in the restroom. Behind the door was a nice lengthy note(I mean, novel) in sharpie marker from top to bottom. Basically telling the customers to «F-off» if you don’t like their food OR if you use their bathroom and are not a patron, that friendly note applies to you too. Granted, I get it, but a simple«restroom for patrons only» would probably suffice. It was just arrogant and rude, in my opinion. In all honesty, that kind of stuff doesn’t usually bother me, but for some reason, the«take it or leave it» attitude rubbed me the wrong way. Throughout the restaurant, there are snarky signs that basically read«Don’t bother ordering anything OTHER than the specialty sandwiches on the menu, because you’re a giant a-hole if you try!» A few others that elude to them not giving a crap what the customer wants and if you don’t like it, you can leave. I have issues spending my money in a place that doesn’t value your patronage. Like another Unilocaler said, they seem to be happy with mocking their customers. The cashier working that day wasn’t rude or friendly, just seemed that we inconvenienced her. I found the passive aggressive notes /signs more offensive than the girl who helped us that day. Rude. Just rude. My opinion is based PURELY on their lack or ability to provide any type of gratitude to their patrons. Even if their food was phenomenal(which it is NOT), I still wouldn’t eat here again.

I came in here when they were setting up for a band to come in so no more food was being served but they are getting 4 stars because the ambiance was pretty cool in this establishment. We were able to stay for the band because we were on our way to mammoth but I gotta come back and try the food.

Friends and I stopped for lunch on our way to Mammoth. Got the Knuckle and, oh my it was good! The turkey was very fresh, and I like how they served it shredded rather than deli sliced. Prices were reasonable as the portions were very filling. Loved the décor, very urban with lots of ironic props! Everyone agreed their food was top quality. Fun place, we’ll be back on the way down(:

This place probably has some of the better sandwiches you’ll find in Bishop. I went with the Cluck Cluck Club and even though it was tasty, the chicken was too dry. It was a big, messy sandwich and very filling. If you want a light lunch, do not get this sandwich. My vegetarian husband got the Soy U Like Tofu wrap. The tofu was so overly salted for him, he just took all of it out. It was pretty much inedible tofu. But on a positive note, he said the wrap was pretty good with no tofu, so he left with a full stomach. The décor is interesting and service was fine. I think deep down I was expecting better based on the Unilocal star rating, but it was still good.

Where do two vegetarians eat when they’re staying in the Eastern Sierras? Clearly, at a place that ACTUALLYHASTOFU! We’re staying in Lone Pine for the week and wanted to do a big grocery run to Bishop. We almost decided to just pop into Denny’s for sustenance but opted out to support a local business — and I’m stoked we did! They have much more on the menu than is reflected on the website. I’d say there were 8 or so vegetarian options, which is welcome change to «veggie burger.» I got the Soy U Like Tofu sandwich(but switched out pita bread for something more substantial — a sub roll) and husband got a portobello, roasted red pepper thingy on a croissant(can’t remember the name — my bad). Fresh veggies, yummy bread, a great bottled beer selection, atmosphere — I loved this place and will totally go back when passing through Bishop, again! My only complaint? Well… the tofu was… moist. I can understand if you aren’t used to dealing with tofu, you don’t know any better about draining it. BUT, don’t offer it on the menu if you don’t know how to handle it, to be honest. It was a mushy mess that made my sandwich super soggy. Ew. Otherwise — loads of attitude, good beer, and delish sandwiches. I’d totally be a regular if I lived around here.

The décor is definitely a combo of retro diner and punk, and totally unexpected in Bishop! You walk in, and even the patio area is a little interesting, with a sign saying sorry we’re open and funky décor. Then when you walk through the doors it hits you. This place is kind of funky and they want you to know it. Rather than being in your face like we are cool and you are intruding on our space the staff seemed laid back with a sense of humor. My friend Juan got a sandwiched called«The Good Juan» which got an «Of course» and a laugh. I got the Asian wrap which was good but got exceptionally amazing. The fie starts is for the combination of good food, reasonable enough prices for a tourist town, friendly(although not overly attentive) staff, and the really cool air of the place.

Mediocre. The ambiance is really fun(when it’s not school lunch hour… yikes!). Glad they have their liquor license now — seems like a good place to stop in for some frozen yogurt and a beer. Sandwiches? I’ve tried several — some better than others. Stick to sandwiches: the salads are a huge let-down. Lettuce is wilted, tomatoes are the sort you buy in mid-winter(sorry guys, I’m a tomato snob when they’re in season), and no feta cheese on the greek. The explanation? We no longer put feta cheese on the greek salad(although the menu still lists it as an ingredient… and I’m pretty positive that’s a standard«greek salad» ingredient. Your prerogative, Raymond’s, but I would’ve really appreciated a head’s up). The hummus on the side was some of the worst I’ve had, too — totally underseasoned, grainy, and lacking any sort of flavor beyond starchy chickpeas. This wouldn’t be a big deal at all if the guy at the counter had recommended it, or if rest of the salad was appealing, but for over $ 9 with tax I am a little perturbed!!! As a Bishop local and a former restaurant professional, I’m probably too picky, but I most likely won’t waste my money here in the future.

Seriously the most amazing sandwich in Bishop… They use schatts bread but their own recipes… good stuff! You can tell they roast their own turkey. My knuckle sandwich was amazing. Thick slices of roasted turkey, bacon, cheese, avo, lettuce, tomato, on sourdough. It’s probably a good thing I don’t live closer… this place can become a habit.

Raymond’s deli may be located in a small town, but it’s food is sure to please even the most jaded big-city foodie. Be warned though, if you’re on a heart-healthy diet or detest large portions, this might not be the place for you. The«go-f-yourself» attitude of the staff is part of the place’s theme and matches the hilarious décor. One of the items we purchased was a turkey wrap — which was made with straight-up-Thanksgiving-turkey turkey, not that pressed crap or deli slices. I found that particularly impressive.

Good Lunch Stop on a Road Trip! 30 plus tasty sandwiches made with bread baked fresh daily at Schat’s bakery. There are plenty of soups and salads too. Service is quick and friendly. When passing through Bishop on a road trip, this is a great stop for lunch.

Not my usual spot to go to in Bishop, but I’m really glad my friend suggested this place! It’s super casual and unassuming, but their sandwiches really packs a punch! Ordered an Italian Stallion and I literally felt like I hit a jackpot! Fresh bread, delicious slices or Capicola and Salami stacked high with Provolone and Ham that tasted like fresh bacon! What I love is that they didn’t overdo on the mustard and mayo so the sandwich help up really well, down to the last bite and didn’t fall apart in your hands. The only thing I was sorry about is that this place is too far from home to be able to eat at all the time! Move over Bay Cities!

Used to stop at Schat’s every time on the way home from Mammoth, won’t do that anymore except to buy bread; it will be Raymond’s from now on! Go with the Italian Stallion, Clubber, or the Reuben. You cannot go wrong with either of those. Really good sandwiches!

I normally reserve 5-star reviews for places that really make my jaw drop, but Raymond’s is the full package in another way and deserves it. My friend and her family were raving about Raymond’s Deli the whole way to Bishop. When you enter, the décor makes you smile. The place has a great vibe, very fun design elements, and a sense of humor. A hand-drawn menu with equally delicious-sounding options makes choosing your meal a daunting experience. I got the Tuscan Turkey, and it was fantastic. This place gives Schatt’s a run for its money. I would definitely go back!

What a contrast to the mass marketing of Schat’s Bakery! Don’t get me wrong, Schat’s still has the best bread in town, BUT it’s now turning into Disneyland over run by idiotic«Mammoth tourists». I’m turning into a cranky local. So, desparate to find a place with easy parking and chill ambience, my friend who is a fellow Mammoth local brought me here. Sandwiches are amazing, lots of choices. Staff is super friendly, and they have really cool stuff on the walls. Best part? an old school Simpsons pingball machine in the corner. I LOVE that thing! Reminds me of my childhood… oops did I just accidentally disclose my old age? Will be back soon!
