I gave this panera bread 3 stars because it’s clean, has good parking, and the food is okay. The cashier was very nice and patient even when the line was super long and people were taking forever digging for credit cards and lose change. I ordered a classic café salad and the actual salad was pretty good(it’s really simple so almost impossible to mess up) however the bowl was boiling hot. It felt like soup should be in, it not a salad! I ended up dumping it on the tray so that the salad mix wouldn’t get hot and wilt in the bowl.

There is always a long line for ordering and it’s not because they are extremely busy! They may have only one or two individuals at the cash register during peak hours. Rarely is the order correct. Today, my daughter ordered a salad and it was served in a bowl that was too hot to touch. We continue to eat here from time to time due to the lack of variety here in Blacksburg, but I think we are done.

Panera is probably one of the worst restaurant in Blacksburg. It’s certainly overpriced and the food they serve is nowhere close to fresh. All my friends who worked for Panera never goes there because they know they are getting ripped off. Despite their overpriced and lifeless food, this location is clean and well-managed. However, they mess up your order more than they should. It got quite frustrating that I just stopped going here for a quick bite. Panera also holds exclusive contract with the University Mall to prevent other bakeries/cafés from establishing. Panera knows they can’t compete with fresh local food so they just eliminate the possibility of having to compete before they are established.

Whats up with Panera’s and them always out of dark roast coffee? This place was a little dirty even though it was not busy. My son had the Mozzarella and tomato and I had the dark roast which both were good. The service was good and the people courteous. The hallway to the bathroom smelled bad and the floors of the bathroom were sticky and it’s only 930 am.

Too bad this Panera wasn’t here when I was. Same old stuff just a different location and adds some pizzazz to Blacksburg. Efficient. 3 stars.

Same old, same old; I still really like Panera. Their bagels and breads are fresh and delicious. Well, I don’t think you could go wrong with anything you choose from their menu. Thus the four stars. It lacks the cozy atmosphere you typically look for in a café though. It would be great if they’re open til late, but they close at 9 pm.

Begals with cream cheese is delicious, and their hazelnut coffee is super. Very nice place for breakfast.

My husband & I have been to this location of Panera Bread a few times since it’s near his office. I’ve always loved Panera Breads since they have good bagels and lunch options. This location is near VA Tech and often is busy. It is so common now to come to a Panera and have nothing but people with coffee cups & open laptops working. I used to love that Panera was my hidden spot to go work if I needed to and get a good bagel. It’s now become more mainstream and so packed at all hours.

I like going here often. Its neat and clean, and the food is good just like most of their other locations. Just one thing, I usually order mediterranean veggie, and sometimes in the evening after 6 or 6:30 pm, they are out of tomato basil bread and french baguette. So, I recommend going there during day time or early in the evening.

Panera Bread is a chain. I’m from the West Coast, so I didn’t realize this at first. It’s not crazy cheap, but the prices are certainly not ridiculous either. All of the franchises are clean in appearance and modern. They have free Wi-Fi at all of their locations. The sandwich/soup shop also makes their own baked goods. Most people show up and order their sandwiches/soups for lunch type eats, but their bread/bagel/dessert selection for take-out is very good as well. The lunches for under $ 5 are not generally worthwhile. You can get a very tasty variety for under $ 7, however. If you are okay with a little ridiculousness in price, try the teas. The green tea is very good, but a hair too much in price.
