I went to Block Island with my boyfriend and we randomly strolled into this place… Being a vegetarian its hard to find good tasting food which is not just a salad. I ordered the Veggie nacho(it had Vegan Falafel in them!)… LOVEDLOVEDLOVED it !! And the frozen margaritas were AMAZING ! I will never forget the time we spent here… Although the deck itself is sort of small the amazing food and drinks totally make up for it!

We dined on the deck as a party of ten. It is hard to serve and please ten people, however, Tres Gatitos Mexican on the Deck did. Everyone raved about their lunch. We enjoyed burgers, lobster quesadillas and burritos. Their cornbread with honey was delicious. Portions and options were generous for the reasonable prices.

The youngsters in my wife’s family wanted to hit this place up the minute we arrived on Block Island for our week vacation. We finally had the opportunity Friday afternoon to stop in for lunch. The establishment is a little undesirable once you step off the deck inside the building. It’s pretty much a large open space, essentially a dance floor with another bar inside. It’s dark, a little smelly from beer, but hell… I have eaten in much worse conditions.(I.e. Coast Line Bar and Grill) At times I enjoy dinning with a large group of people because of the possibilities of sampling multiple dishes. Before we get into the food let’s start with the drinks. The margaritas were not strong, but they were plenty refreshing for a nice summer day sitting near the beach. They were not watery or super bitter. Most of the eateries on Block Island brag about their fresh daily catch. Therefore I decided to go with the fish tacos. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and not fried. I sampled some of the tacos from the youngest member of my party. The chicken was also seasoned perfectly. All in everyone in the party of nine enjoyed their lunch, except for one. She ordered the lobster QUESADILLA. Though I did not eat much of the quesadilla, it was pretty thin and the lobster meat was a little mushy. I probably wouldn’t have even considered ordering it. Overall it seems as the food at this establishment is good. P. S. Our waitress was the best she handled a large party by herself without one glitch. She had our food and drinks on the table before we could even blink, and the place was busy around lunch time.

I’m a Mexican food lover, so I wanted to hit Mexican On The Deck while on Block Island. For all intents & purposes, this would appear to be a Mexican restaurant(based on the name, and the options on the menu), but I was disappointed that nothing I ate actually tasted at all like Mexican food. The key word that can be applied to all of the food I tasted is: BLAND. Nothing really had any flavor – just a greasy, pasty blandness that occupied space in my mouth until I swallowed. I also ordered the margarita which was very sweet(breaking the blandness trend), but I’m guessing had zero alcohol content. Pretty sure it was just the bottled margarita mixer sans tequila. They couldn’t even have the courtesy to get me drunk enough to forget how bad the food is. As it was a windy rainy day, we opted to eat inside rather than on the deck. It’s dark & dank. The lingering smell of stale beer is strong, and the floors have that sticky, haven’t been mopped in months, feeling. So, strike three on ambience.

Pretty good Mexican food … my wife had the clam buritto which she loved and it was HUGE. Good drinks as well … definitely worth a shot if you are in the mood for Mexican.

Mexican on the Deck is a little gem tucked away on Block Island! The food is very affordable, and while it is not the best Mexican food you will ever eat, it is very tasty. I have been to Mexican on the Deck a few times and it is never packed during the day, and you can almost always get a table of the deck with views of the beach. They have a full bar, so you can swing by for a drink or a bite to eat!

We have eaten lunch there numerous times over the years. Relaxed atmosphere and good food. Nachos are large, we always share. The clam strip burrito is a large portion and very good. I like the fish tacos, they are a smaller portion but tasty as well. Mudslides are yummy!

Mexican on the Deck is a fantastic find leading just out of town on corn neck road on the right hand side as you make your way to the beach. The party is happening on the outdoor deck, where bartenders mix strong drinks in big cups for $ 10 and under. Live music at happy hour and the place gets packed with folks in their 20’s-50’s looking to have fun. We haven’t eaten here but the Mexican food I’ve seen, while certainly not attempting authenticity, looks ok enough, particularly if you’re simply looking to munch with your drinks. For me, this is a drinking spot more than an eating spot. Full bar with beer and lots of mixed drinks. Apparently the frozen mudslide is the big hit but I liked my custom made margarita with silver patron. If there were a larger tequila selection(anejo/reposado) for this«Mexican» joint I would have given this spot five stars-the best they’ve got is patron silver. Still tasty and the server and bartender did us right. High recommendations for fun out of the direct sun but with a nice, albeit somewhat indirect, view of th beach.
