Went there for dinner and everything was perfect! The view is great, food was delicious, and the service was exceptional! Jimmy, our waiter, was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. I had questions about the menu and he gave me honest answers, got to love that! We ordered the calamari. It was fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The haddock had to have been just caught that morning, it was so soft and flaky. The sides of summer veggies were garden fresh. I also had a melon summery vodka drink, to die for! Not too sweet or over powering and just enough flavor. One of my best dinning experiences ever! I can’t wait to go back! I just hope they can at least match the first experience I had there…

Awesome service! Great atmosphere! Amazing food! Need I say more. We enjoyed the roasted asparagus appetizer, wedge salad and shrimp po boy wrap! Wanted to try everything on the menu. We will definitely be back. A must try when you visit Block Island! Highly recommend!

Very disappointed with the buck-a-shuck oysters here. Huge pieces of shell and lots of sand. I don’t know anything about shucking oysters but apparently neither did the staff here. I know they were $ 1.00 but I shouldn’t have to work harder to get them clean enough to eat than the guy that’s shucking them. On the other hand, the waitstaff was friendly and attentive and the mudslide I ordered was top notch!

Awesome location, great service and tasty seafood. We visited the restaurant on our way back to town from a full day of biking and were able to grab a seat and a cold brew right away which definitely set the right tone. We had 2 of each of the 3 types of oysters each of which super fresh and tasty although very different in flavor. We also shared the clam strips which were crunchy and delicious. What surprised me the most though we’re the steamed vegetables we substituted the fries with. Garlicky, crisp and so delicious you can tell that these were not the typical frozen veg you get at most restaurants!

Quintessential beachfront restaurant. Fried clam strips, a Blue Point lager, a friendly waitress, and a sweeping view of Old Harbor made for a pitch-perfect lunch on a day trip to Block Island. There is nothing especially innovative about the Beachhead, but at least they’re smart enough not to get in the way of fresh seafood and cold drinks.

Downhill slide over the years– quite unfortunately Beachhead has gotten worse with service over the years. The clam strips rival a box of frozen supermarket clam strips, a far cry from the Islands best. They may run out of your favorite beer and your server may be the bitchy Kelsey M.- who will make YOU feel like the idiot when she messes up your order. Lobster mac and cheese is good but there is way better on the island. It is not offered on their lunch menu because they need time to defrost it. The grilled oysters are very good and prove that ordering carefully here counts. That and not being in a rush to get your food help immensely.

Came here for a late afternoon brew, and didn’t have the chance to try the food. Ambiance was pretty cool, with some good tunes playing and the cute Adirondack chairs circled around a gas fire-pit outside. Only thing that was less than awesome was the glasses and beer bottles that were left behind and not cleared after another couple left… and they remained there for almost an hour, and were still there when we left. Beer selection was good, with a wide variety to cater to everyone’s interests. Would definitely return again to eat.

This joint had delicious seafood and is in a perfect location on the island. The Beachhead is across the road from the beach and boasts magnificent views of the ocean. My family went for dinner and we all loved our meals. My husband says that the clam strips were the best he’s had and the portions were great. I had the crab cakes and they were one of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had as well… they were topped with sauce, corn, and bacon– yum! My mom loved the haddock and my dad loved the scallops. Our server, Zach, was extremely welcoming and kind. He brought me a side salad even though I had ordered the crab cake appetizer(Because I wanted a smaller portion), saying, he didn’t want me to feel left out since the rest of my family had side salads with their entrees. It was a sweet sentiment and we appreciated how friendly he was. We will definitely come back.

Had dinner there few nights ago on Sunday… mudslides were tasty tasy. Wife had Shrimp w/English peas & pancetta with a cream sauce over spaghetti. …phenomenal!!! At least 8 very large and tasty shrimp good well and the cream sauce was very good with the pancetta mixed in. I had simple fried clam w/fries & slaw… to say the clamps were sweet are an understatement & there were plenty! Fries seemed hand cut, very crispy but tender inside. As dinner cooled down the clam’s n fries still tasted great. The slaw was also delicious… Will try to hit them up again this week, maybe for lunch during yet another great day on the beach.

Stopped here for lunch after hiking to the north light house. Service was great(thanks Rachel!) and the food was excellent. Had a great view sitting out in the front deck. All of our meals are recommended: grilled Cajun blackened tuna, crab cakes, California chicken sandwich, seafood nachos, lobster bisque, and garlic shrimp. Yummm!

The happy hour buck-a-shuck was so worth it. The oysters here are delicious! After a long day at the beach we were looking for something nearby with a beachy atmosphere and seafood. This place was so great and right across from Fred Benson beach. The mojito I ordered was a little weak — the waiter was happy to remake it for me. The clam fries were also very memorable! Would definitely return on our next trip to block island :)

This is my favorite restaurant yet on Block Island. Service was absolutely impeccable. Our server was so good, and everyone else on the waitstaff was around to help with drinks and clearing our table whenever we needed anything. I loved my little Block Island oysters! They were small but full of flavor. The lobster roll was amazing too. Huge chunks of lobster on a perfectly toasted bun. The lobster to bun ratio was right on point. And the view is probably the best part. It’s right on the water with a huge patio. I can’t wait to go back next summer!

The Beach Head is a MUST go to if you find yourself on Block Island. A short walk from the beach with an amazing view of the ocean. My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years and it has never disappointed us. The staff is awesome and Becky and her husband are extremely welcoming. They are extremely dog friendly and allow the dogs on the patio and will even bring them water! The Bavarian pretzels are to die for! I cannot rave more about their lobster roll. A toasted bun, and lobster… perfect amount and AMAZING. I literally dream about this lobster roll its that amazing. Don’t come to Block Island without coming to The Beach Head!

The staff and owners were very friendly and the seafood was excellent. I had the lobster mac and cheese and my girlfriend had little neck clams and their chowder, which was served in a white broth. Great drink selection too. Definitely worth a stop while visit Block Island.

This past summer I made my first visit to Block Island, and the group ended up here for lunch. I was seriously impressed. First, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had multiple people with food allergies, and they were great about making sure the meals were correct with no issues. I we learned later that it was actually the manager who served us, as the staff was short-handed. We never would have guessed, since the service was timely and accurate. As for the food: I had the clam strips, which were the best I’ve had anywhere. Perfect amount of breading, solid amount of clam meat, and not overly greasy. The seafood nachos were interesting, with Thai flavoring and seaweed(yes, seaweed). It was a unique flavor profile. My wife had the fish and chips, and loved them. The pricing was excellent on top of it all. A definite recommend.

This is Beach Head restaurant. It’s a restaurant near the beach. It’s nothing fancy. However neither is it a dirty divey restaurant too. It’s just right if you ask me. It’s located at a very nice location, directly across from the end of Block Island State Beach. When I visited most customers were either sitting outside on the patio or sitting outside on the porch. Food was basic comfort food with a slant towards seafood. My clam chowder was excellent and had a nice slight spicy punch to it. My salad was excellent too. Service was great, and prices were pretty darn fair. I didn’t order one, but a burger platter will set you back $ 9. The staff was top notch by the way. I’ve been to other restaurants on the island and the others can learn a thing or two from the staff here.

Great view, can’t say that enough. Come in the evening and enjoy the sunset over a meal with a nice breeze. You can’t beat that. The food isn’t bad, and the service is friendly. Was here with a larger group and they were quite accommodating, food didn’t take too long for the number of people. It was worth the visit.

Not a tourist trap. Can’t beat the view! Love the colorful adirondack chairs out front facing the beach. Easy jaunt from the beach for a cocktail & lunch or take the short walk/bike ride out of town. The location is prime beach front :) Decent menu offering burgers, seafood, salad & typical beach food. The asparagus Oscar was good but the bearnaise sauce was not & there was literally like a teaspoon of crab meat on the plate. That’s just lame. But the fish & chips were excellent– beer battered flounder(not cod or haddock) & the fries were fresh, crunchy, golden — no old frying oil here. The portion was huge & the price point was great. Average service. Decent prices. Private parking. Clean restrooms.
