Always fresh food. Always a welcoming atmosphere. For the best in Greek food this is is the place to be.

Not so great — The waiter was very pushy and every time we ordered he said«may I suggest this instead». That was extremely frustrating. I ordered a large horatiki salad(tomato salad) and the waiter told me «no one ever orders the large. It’s too big for most people. May I suggest you get the small?» So, I got the small. My boyfriend ordered the lamb kabob and my mom ordered the musaka. Apps were good, and the ONLY good food we got that evening. My horatiki salad was not only VERY small(I should have ordered the large like I wanted), but it was all cucumber, no tomato. My boyfriend’s kabob had 4 tiny pieces of lamb and the rest was all veggies. You only get one kabob with virtually no meat for $ 22! Ridiculous. My mom’s musaka was made with cinnamon and sugar. She liked it, but it wasn’t your traditional sauce or what she was expecting. We won’t be going back.

The food was OK. The right lemon potatoes are cut small and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nothing like the ones in Greece, at all! The gyro platter was ok and the stuffed chicken breast was extremely bland. The customer service was good.

Came Saturday and it wasn’t crowded at all! We were surprised, my folks and I. We could tell instantly that this is one of those homey family-owned places and we saw the authenticity in that and liked that very much. A very welcoming inner ambiance full of Greek pride welcomes you in, with cute little Greek flags on the walls and little statues of figures from the Orthodox Church. The food portions, of course, were generous(an understatement), and the quality was needless to say, generally flawless. We ordered many appetizers, only qualm I had was that I like my dolmades chilled in the traditional and stuffed with olive oil rice. The dolmades we were served were cooked and hot, filled with an orange rice. Still very tasty, just not my preference. Entrees were spot-on, my folks loved their spanakopita and moussaka. Service was very attentive at first, but then dwindled a lot as customers began to filter out and the staff started to close up shop for the evening and clean tables and stuff. Granted, we came for a late dinner. My mom wasn’t crazy about the baklava for dessert, but generally, we loved this place and will be back! There’s a liquor store right next door, very convenient since it’s BYOB! I bet that place makes tons of business off people eating at this Greek place and the Italian and other restaurants next door who want wine with dinner. Opa!

This is one of my favorite Greek restaurants. As a Greek, I think I have enough credit to say that this place feels like Greece. Its intimate and full of energy. The kitchen is open, and adds to the atmosphere. The food is superb! While the main courses are delicious, I recommend that instead of everyone getting their own meal, to just order several appetizers and share them among the table. This way you get to experience each of their amazing dishes. The kalamari, octopodi, saganaki, macoronia, and Greek salads are all sensational. They also offer lunch specials during the week. Naturally I must mention that there gyros are delicious(and reasonably priced). Be sure to try galaktoboureko or baklava for dessert. Both are made on site, and make you feel like your sitting on the Mediterranean having dessert. There is a tv, and plenty of parking in the back. They also have BYOB, and there’s a nearby liquor store a few houses down to make it convenient.

Have always wanted to check this place out and finally so glad I did. Came here on Easter and order a ton of food. The waiter was very attentive and patient despite our indecisiveness. We thoroughly enjoyed the plate of pita and olives while waiting for our appetizers — stuffed calamari, salad and tzatziki which comes with extra pita. For our main course, we shared Moussaka and Gyro. We couldn’t eat it all although we were tempted. Ended up taking a doggie bag home. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions given. Also the location of the restaurant is easily accessible to the Garden State Parkway and down the street from Brookdale Park on Watchung Ave. One issue I have with Stamna in Bloomfield is that they don’t honor the GrubHub coupons that they distribute to their customers. I was given one with our bill and tried using the code that wouldn’t take. Although it wasn’t expired, when I called the restaurant(multiple times and days) I was unable to get any help from the general staff and the managers weren’t present to assist me in making my delivery experience as enjoyable as our dining experience.

Came here to try greek food for the first time. Waited for about 15 minutes while there were tables available but we waited. Then we were seated and had to ask for our own waters repeatedly on the hot day say. The hummus was completely delicious! By far the best part of the meal. We all ordered our platters in the mood for some rice for a side. After 40minutes our waiter comes out and says our dishes are ready but there’s no rice… That was the whole point of our meals. And why did they wait until last minute? I thought this was bad on the restaurant, there needs to be more communication. The place has potential but just because the place is small doesn’t mean you should have 1 waiter serving the entire place. Get more help.

I came here on a beautiful Monday night so I loved that outdoor seating was an option. Our waiter was great, super attentive without being in your face. We started our meal with the hummus– super creamy and delicious paired with fresh pita. My date had the lamb kabobs while I had the stuffed calamari. Surprisingly, my favorite part of the meal was the lemon potatoes. We really enjoyed the complementary dessert. I’d like to come back to try the gyros/stuffed chicken.

I came in here on a Saturday for a late lunch. The place was pretty empty, so we sat up front near the windows. We ordered the Easter lamb special and an order of okra to split. The lamb was good, but the okra was amazing! Generous portions, plus they give you pita and olives to start. Everything was really good, service was good, and I got a baklava to go that was delicious. Tons of pistachios. :)

I’m a huge fan of Greek food so when a friend suggested that Stamna would be great for a small group dinner I was excited. The exterior is very typical of Greek restaurants in the U.S. But inside you get a very authentic Greek food experience. There is a somewhat open kitchen that bustles diner style with cooks speaking in a mixture of Greek and English. The place is always packed with locals and folks for whom this place is a destination, and rightfully so. The kitchen is quick and the no nonsense servers get to the point and expect you to do the same. Needless to say, the food is delicious. I recommend the moussaka and Greek salad. I wasn’t fond of the grilled octopus but that has a lot to do with the red sauce. I prefer it sans sauce. Worth the trip.

I have only been here for lunch — the lunch specials are very generous portions for the price, and I’ve yet to try something I didn’t like. My favorite is the Greek salad with gyro meat. The fresh vegetables and feta cheese work perfectly together, and they are very generous with the amount of tender tasty gyro meat. Side of tzatziki is worth the extra dollar! Service is friendly and atmosphere is laid back — a perfect lunch spot and the best Greek food in the area.

I’ve been here at least a handful of times and I’ve never had a bad experience. I usually go with the gyro platter, which is fresh, filling and very reasonably priced at $ 14. Love the lemon potatoes. Their baklava is also delicious. Limited seating up front facing the street, but that’s where I recommend sitting. Otherwise, the ambiance is very, very casual. Parking in the back if you can’t get a spot on the street. BYOB!

Been going here for years, an all around great restaurant. I like the atmosphere inside and the kitchen is open and next to the tables so you can smell the food and see it being prepared. Staff is friendly, and service is prompt, I fortunately never feel like i am wondering where our server is. Street parking if you can find a spot, otherwise there is a nearby side street and a lot in the back is huge(behind all the stores in the side of the street) and a back door entrance of you part in that lot. During the winter they close up the patio to make additional space. I was surprised how warm they keep the patio area in winter, it is very comfortable to sit in in case you’re thinking its going to get cold inn there. Food wise, I must recommend the octopus, had it last two two I went since I never had it and it delicious, and grilled perfectly. Although I will say it was better cooked when I went on a sat night instead of a sat afternoon. I’m a big fan of the feta cheese they serve, the keftdedes, and most of all their lemon potatoes! Get the lemon potatoes no matter what you order! Pretty much any chicken or gyro platter is delicious too, you can’t really go wrong. The only thing I’ve had there that was a winner in my book was the baklava. Could a been a bad day or something, but it was ultra sweet, and not to my liking. Overall, a wonderful and delicious place to eat for lunch or dinner. I know they opened up another one in little falls, but I have t been to gay location yet.

I’ve only had takeout once from here so my review is strictly on the food and it is 5 stars. Everything we ordered(gyro, dips sampler, pita, spanokapita, etc) was all delicious! The real star is the lemon potatoes, really incredible. Check it out!

So happy to have this around the corner from our new house! Their lamb gyro and lemon potatoes are SO good. Their tzatziki is some of the best I’ve tried, made with Greek yogurt(so it’s thick, not runny) and plenty of dill. Salads are good too and they have many varieties. I like that you can add gyro meat or other toppings onto any salad for a healthy option. I also tried the dip sampler, enjoyed the Skordalia(garlic & potato) and Taramosalata(caviar) but didn’t love the rest. I wish you could select which 5 dips you want in the sampler. Portions are large, service is extremely friendly, prices are fair, delivery is fast. I haven’t dined in yet but look forward to making Stamna one of our go-to local dining options.

My review may not matter considering all of the positive reviews. I’ve ordered here a few times and the only thing that deserves more than 2 stars is their Loukoumades. I had the Pastichio with lemon potatoes and it was super salty. *Delivery takes FOREVER *Costly for the portion size you get

Local Greek Taverna is a winner with me! Had dinner here tonight with my wife and really enjoyed this place. We sat outside and were really comfortable. Good waiters that are friendly and attentive. They first brought us a plate with lightly toasted delicious bread with some green and black olives. We both ordered the $ 14 pork souvlaki with Greek salad and tzatziki with warm pita bread. I had a side of lemon potatoes and my wife had the rice. Good sized portions all very fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed the meal nd will be back to try other dishes on the menu. Really good value and a great local place!

Wow, another winner on your restaurant list, Bloomfield! My bf and I were here yesterday for dinner and was utterly impressed with our experience. Now, Greek food is never really on my rotation of cuisines to eat when I want to eat out. I wasn’t looking for anything too heavy to eat for dinner last night, so by bf suggested Stamna. Verdict? Holy Baklava will I go back! I’m a huge seafood eater, so I had ordered the BRANZINO dish. I’m a sucker for fish, especially when it comes on the bone. I had the option of it being served whole or de-boned, but as I would see it, nothing thrills me more than working for the food on my plate. Ha! For my side, I had ordered the OKRA in tomato sauce with dill. My other half had ordered the HALF-CHICKEN with LEMONPOTATOES. For desserts, our server had suggested EKMEK so we of course rolled with it. Everything was wonderful. From the well marinated olives that were initially put on the table, to the flavor of the vegetables, all the way to the dessert. My fish was perfectly grilled and so delicate! The grilled half– chicken was super tender. The best part of the night was when we had ordered dessert. We were settled on eating EKMEK, but before it was brought out, our server gave us a complimentary order of LOUKOMADES(Greek Donuts topped with sesame seeds and cinnamon). So much for trying to eat a healthy dinner, but hey, I wasn’t mad! *super grin* VALUE4.25 SERVICE5.0 FOOD4.5

My recommendation to anyone in the area looking for good Greek food would be stamna. For sure. Nice spacious spot with outdoor seating available and a warm staff that was super nice. Took mama there for a dinner date and we were immediately seated right before our reservation time. Wine got opened and chilled on the spot. The bread and olives we got were clearly fresh. We had the roasted eggplant app and it was awesome. Not tomato based like most I’ve had but it seriously hit the spot. Also served with pita bread that was good(not knock ur socks off) but yummy. For dinner we split the mixed seafood grill. Yum! The octopus was awesome as was the calamari and shrimp. I love that the shrimp were served head on since I got to suck the juices out(just like my boy Anthony bourdain does) haha. So good though. We were too full for dessert but if you’re in the mood for Greek I would highly recommend you pay stamna a visit.
